I don't think it is possible - but you never know, with all the abundance of geniuses around here.

Does it still crash even if you forcibly eject the CD-tray (by poking a pin into the emergency eject hole) ?

Either you have made your XP CD from an upgrade pack of Windows XP, or you are missing the idents in the root of your CD: get the CD idents Or if you tried following flyakite's multi-boot guide here, check if you have synchronized the files lying across your CD - i.e., maybe the txtsetup.sif or setupldr.bin in your PRO1 boot folder is different from your "SETUP\PRO1\I386\" install source. I suppose Bashrat here is in a better position to help you by understanding the above and translating it into dutch for you. You'll just have to wait until he comes by.

prathapml replied to bardugu's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
You might like to set the regional settings to your liking, and then go to the registry and export the below keys: ; Set "Location" to India [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International\Geo] "Nation"="113" ; India-specific Regional settings [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International] "iCountry"="1" "iCurrency"="0" "iDate"="1" "iLZero"="1" "iMeasure"="0" "iNegCurr"="0" "iTime"="0" "iTLZero"="0" "Locale"="00000409" "s1159"="AM" "s2359"="PM" "sCountry"="United States" "sCurrency"="Rs." "sDate"="-" "sLanguage"="ENU" "sShortDate"="dd-MMM-yyyy" "sTimeFormat"="h:mm:ss tt"That was my registry values, you'll have a different set of values once you have it set to how you want. Also, note that those tweaks listed above (for HKCR) will need to be imported through cmdlines.txt. If you don't understand how to do something, then have a proper read of the guide here: http://unattended.msfn.org/ -
Maybe you did something wrong while doing your DVD - follow the guide linked to by MCT above. Then test your ISO in vmware - only then burn it to DVD.

It doesn't matter in what order these are installed - I don't have any of that "00x_yyy" nonsense and my drivers install and work just fine. I have an nForce2-based MoBo.

Must be the beta leaks, I think. The final isn't even out of the CD fabs (atleast that's what we're led to believe).

Office Shrinker [reduce source of o2k3/xp/2k]
prathapml replied to buckeyeXP's topic in Microsoft Office
Did you bother to search at all? http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/office2003_advanced.htm Use the CIW (Custom Installation Wizard) found as part of the ORK. -
Yes, by default, new profiles are created for each user, the first time when they run Ff and TB. So you are saved some effort on that count. From what I saw, that was your only question left unanswered. Anything else?

Hotfixes For Windows XP Professional SP1
prathapml replied to Aaron's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
No, that is not okay, because the SFX will de-compress itself and autorun the "dxsetup /silent" properly - but as a different process. So your svcpack.inf assumes that the directX install has already finished (when it has only just begun) and moves on to the next item - which will clash with your directX install. Use cmdlines - it is the best option for non-hotfix packages. Get the SFX to *ONLY* de-compress to a pre-determined path silently, and then have your next command install directX. I hope I was clear enough to put the point across. -
Multi boot option Custom CD setup questions
prathapml replied to `Felix`'s topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
You can use either of these two (not the only ones, but these are ruling, currently): CDshell (freeware)- http://bootscriptor.cdshell.org/ EasyBoot (paid) - http://www.ezbsystems.com/easyboot/ -

Service Pack 2 is going to be released in a week's time. But if you can't wait that long and if you want a pre-release copy of XP SP2 (quite stable), here you go: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechn...sp2preview.mspx

Well, I don't know the Punjabi language thoroughly, but I do know a bit - "Mundian to Bachke" would mean "Beware O young men" (from attractive girls, I would think, in the context of the song). I suppose it's a humorous way of telling to the men in the song, what would in English be translated as "Don't let them own you". A pleasant surprise that someone living in Spain should have heard a Punjabi song! OK, dudes - we've gone sufficiently off topic, now back to the subject of discussion. I'd make a guess that we're standing not more than 1 week away from release of SP2 final

Felix's post above is right on the mark, and that's what you need to follow if you want your quicklaunches for all users. -
Does the Windows XP cd HAVE to be SP1 intigrated?
prathapml replied to r4esh's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Exactly, and it saves time and headaches too! Here's a nice guide which is easy to follow: Universal Windows Slipstreaming and Bootable CD Guide -
That's called going overboard without knowing about what you are talking. Firstly, India is not the the pitiful, miserable country mired in poverty that some people seem to think. Secondly, India is not a shark preparing to eat up foreign jobs either (as propaganda in the US seems to suggest). It is a normal country, with as many problems and good points as any other democratic nation. I suppose forums like these are what open your mind to a global outlook, and picking up good practices is an option we all ought to exercise - instead of continuing to stereotype people. I am proud to be Indian [END OF RANT] OK, now I ease up. As for why there isn't an Indian-ised version of Windows: 1. There isn't a mono-language called "Indian". We have a multi-lingual culture, and each region here speaks its own language (Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, etc.) - 80 languages in all. 2. Predictably, each of the above languages have varying number of speakers, the largest being Hindi with 350 million. 3. Now, let's see how many people speak one of the smaller european languages - that fact will tell you that, Microsoft in its arrogance never bothered to localise their software for India (unlike their arabic/spanish/french/german/japanese editions) despite the presence of numbers. 4. The language of elitism has been english since a century (because of the legacy of british rule) - and common-sense says that computing was the preserve of the elite at first. Although now the common people have access to PCs, the supremacy of knowledge of english is re-inforced by MS's blatant profit-motives. 5. The average man on the street would still prefer to not pay for his OS, and pirate it - and he knows english. The man who doesn't know english, is, well, not in a position to buy a PC at all, nor visit an internet parlour ("poverty" as you said). So MS doesn't have an incentive to develop "Windows for Hindi" and such editions. But then, I guess they haven't heard of the concept of corporate responsibility either (after sucking the blood out of the Indians they employ as slaves - sorry, programmers).

Hotfixes For Windows XP Professional SP1
prathapml replied to Aaron's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
My dX setup is only 13.5 MB, and these are the files I retain (for win2k): dxnt.cab dsetup.dll dsetup32.dll dxsetup.exe As for winXP, just wait a week and slip-stream SP2 (which has integrated directX 9C) into your install-source. Attached is an icon for directX - which is nice to use if you are SFX'ing your directX install (winrar allows you to use an icon for the resulting SFX). dx.ico -
can anyone upload an unattatedt xp cd

Now, it's not only prathapml! But: prathapml visaversa Bâshrat the Sneaky MCT mazin You all got together to raise this thread from the dead, I suppose. (LMAO) Why I replied to this post? 1. Maybe the author of this thread hasn't found the answer yet (very unlikely, I know, but still it doesn't hurt to help). 2. heh heh, spamming around a little bit to do what I call "maximize" post count Ok now, coming back to the topic: Using a CD-RW is certainly a good idea, but VMware doesn't require all that "fighting with" (as maxXPsoft describes) either - I found it pretty easy to use, and a better option for preliminary testing in most cases. It won't harm your real hardware/OS in any way, and you can always use your real machine once you are sure that your CD will work fine (after testing in VMware). -
Yup, lots of people would be interested *IF* only you could commit to releasing a new installer on every new official release. Your idea of the "modify" capable installer sounds good too! This would be too much bloat. Of this, I'm sure. I'd rather not waste 180 KB on something as unimportant as an icon (even if it is going to be compressed). On my unattended CD, even 100 KB is very valuable - and can tilt the scales as to whether I use something or not.BTW, the images of the icons that you have posted above, are on inaccessible links.
-
Do you want better compression? Check out 7-Zip I compressed my 42 MB Firefox+Thunderbird folder, added an SFX module to it, and ended up with an SFX archive of just 6.5 MB (at ultra compression).

You might be having an active desktop element as a wall paper - change your wallpaper, and see that there's nothing else looking wrong in display properties. Try re-booting.
-
Ok dudes, forget my post above. This is the penalty I pay for using an old version. The newer version (which was most recently linked to by the first post here) is able to make the quicklaunch shortcut in the right place - it works for me. I don't know about the other things, though.
-
Landslide, huh? Oh well, that's right - yet another vote for the predictable here
