LOL, just change your RAM size, and VGA card to see a different set of detected values in System Properties.

Like, for example, /ME /ME /ME /ME............The baby is expected shortly (despite the denial that it is being given out today. Those denials were actually that SP2 won't come on Automatic Update or WU on Aug5. But the RTM/RTW is on schedule. For Once ). It might be out anytime, from now, we'll just have to see.
-
That's actually one of the attractions about SP2. Slip-stream it, and you have got all updates you need! Now, that's a question, whose answer will differ from one individual to another, depending on their connection speeds. The final release of SP2 is going to be approx. 260 MB. If you assume that MS' servers are able to give you your download at your maximum ceiling speed, and you had the following connection speeds to the internet:dial-up 56k = 20 hours (or less) DSL 128kbps = 7 hours Cable 1.5 Mbps = ~1 hour T1/T3/higher = you obviously won't have all that bandwidth to yourself!

KiXtart-scripts instead of Batch-files
prathapml replied to xolox's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
So the issue's settled then: KiXtart is far better than CMD. -
Well, my name+initials merged.

And it can't either, because that info is detected and shown On-the-fly. With win98, you could change it bcos it would detect at startup, and then store it to registry - and display the same whenever you opened System Properties - so if you modified that registry entry, you could display what you wanted until the next re-boot. But with winxp/2k, you can't edit the System Info displayed by windows.

Probably, not everyone who comes by is voting.

I know that! That's why I replied only in this thread, despite you cross-posting the same content across 2 different threads.

Oh well, I didn't count on the presence of Doom III madness in this thread.

Install didn't copy $OEM$\Installs files. why?
prathapml replied to r4esh's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
LOL , 2 answers, one after another, both saying the same thing! Do you think the solution could be anything else? Did you bother to read the website link that jrzycrim & I gave (in the 1st 2 replies)? -
Install didn't copy $OEM$\Installs files. why?
prathapml replied to r4esh's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Nothing you keep in "$OEM$\Installs" folder will get copied over to HDD. Look here for detailed info. -
No, it won't (sadly). The content of that folder is lots of files, not just the 5 that you find when you extract dotnetfx.exe. Moreover, the folder contains .NET 1.0, whereas the one you have would be v1.1.

If your windows server 2003 is less than licensed/legit, then you will start having problems like these with the release of every new Service Pack. Either don't upgrade, or go out and buy a proper version.

Using registry code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ;logs in user "User_Name" the first time [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "DefaultUserName"="User_Name" "DefaultPassword"="password" "AutoAdminLogon"="1"Copy and paste the above into notepad, and save as "auto-login.reg". Of course, edit the User_Name and password to what your real ones are. Then, double-click on the .reg to import the key into your registry. Now, it will auto-login from the next boot onwards.

That doesn't look like the most reliable source of information. I say so, because these cracking/foreign-language sites have a strange urge to fudge information. FYI, try jumping onto any of the warez sites, or P2P networks, and you'll be amazed to see that many of them claim to have "Windows XP SP2 FULL-retail.ISO" and "WinRAR 3.4 final.exe". But on downloading it, they are just RC1, and beta2 respectively, both not even the latest available from the official site.
-
Then how about many of us who have done it for: build 1213 build 2055 (beta1) build 2082 build 2096 (RC1) build 2120 build 2138 build 2149 (RC2) build 2162 (pre-RTM) LOL No offense meant towards anybody, just reminding myself of all my SP2 struggles (slip-streams).
-
Firewire is not "crippled" in the way you seem to think. Instead, support for it is rather limited in the pre-release builds of SP2, so that you won't use SP2 RCs on a long-term basis. They'd like you to upgrade to SP2 final, whenever it comes out, as soon as possible - in order to use firewire normally again. So, it is not as serious an issue as you thought!
-
There's no such thing in existence. You can have them installed through svcpack.inf method, but that's not exactly "slip-streamed".
-
If that's true, then its going to be pretty dis-appointing.
-
I don't know about you people, but I am gonna stay awake and get the **** thing to my machine, before I get even a wink of sleep. SP2 status is going to be reported live from here. @Tbone2 Yup! It's been a long wait - too long prolly, but no more.

Well, the retail/OEM versions of the CDs (SP1/SP2) have that function usable. The Retail CDs have an extra "DOTNETFX" folder in the root of the CD, which contains the setup for the .NET framework. When an SP is slip-stream into a standard VLK (SP0) source, the resulting distribution lacks that extra folder, but still has the function accessible from autorun - which ends up doing nothing. If ever you tried editing resources in setup.exe (autorun) with Resource Hacker, you'll find the directory path (which clicking on that option runs) in the "Text Strings". I hope that satisfies your curiosity. The above thing (a non-working option to install .NET) was actually very mysterious for me, as well, when I saw it for the first time. @1Bowtie- Join the party. *POP* :opens a champagne cork: You're not alone, as you can see. @all-the-others You're welcome as well! BAM (above) has provided a virtual version of "nice cold beer". Enjoy yourselves.

A year passes by (almost), and we still haven't got to see what that theme is like!

If your EXE_to_be_run is located at "%CDROM%\install\apps\app.exe", and your .js is located in "%CDROM%\install", you don't need to use any special environment variables. Just use the relative directory paths. For example, in the above example, you can simply run "apps\app.exe /Q" directly.

how do i put my own pictur in winxp setup?

Cosmetic surgery for Windows Setup, is what you want - and big_gie has pointed you to the right place to start from. -
A "husband shopping center" has just opened where a woman may go to choose a husband from among many men. The store is comprised of six floors, and the men increase in positive attributes as the shopper ascends the flights. There is, however, a catch. As you open the door to any floor you may choose a man from that floor, but if you go up a floor, you cannot go back down except to exit the building. So a woman goes to the shopping center to find a husband. On the first floor the sign on the door reads: Floor 1 - These men have jobs. The woman reads the sign and says to herself, "Well, that's better than my last boyfriend, but I wonder what's further up?" So up she goes. The second floor sign reads: Floor 2 - These men have jobs and love kids. The woman remarks to herself, "That's great, but I wonder what's further up?" And up she goes again. The third floor sign reads: Floor 3 - These men have jobs, love kids and are extremely good looking. "Hmmm, better" she says. "But I wonder what's upstairs?" The fourth floor sign reads: Floor 4 - These men have jobs, love kids, are extremely good looking and help with the housework. "Wow!" exclaims the woman, "very tempting. BUT, there must be more further up!" And again she heads up another flight. The fifth floor sign reads: Floor 5 - These men have jobs, love kids, are extremely good looking, help with the housework and have a strong romantic streak. "Oh, mercy me! But just think... what must be awaiting me further on?" So up to the sixth floor she goes. The sixth floor sign reads: Floor 6 - You are visitor 123,456,789,012,345 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please. Thank you for shopping at HusbandMart and have a nice day.
