  2. Hey "Ponch" No insult intended. Just this After another Installation the Drive Letter Selected by the O.S. setup can not be changed. The Problem is this: I have multiple Computers in my home that I use all the time, and this particular one is my Main system Network PC, used to sync and backup files from all of my other systems and itself. No matter what O.S. is running (on this box) I setup the BU and Sync software I use to maintain all files. If the drives are not configured identical on all the O.S.'s the sync programs fail. "spacesurfer" states I have looked into this option on a number of but have not found info that states this capability, Yet. Any Ideas?? Thanks LarryLaser
  3. Sorry "Ponch" But that is not true, Even with all but one Hard Drive's Disconnected, On the first Install the first partition is recognized as C: but any others are randomly recognized, On the second Install the OS decides what the Drive Letter will be. Example: For the second OS Install, with only one HDD active (Connected) the OS calls partitions; 1st Partition - C: (primary) 2nd Partition - L: (primary) 3rd Partition - M: (primary) 4th Partition - E: (logical) 5th partition - I: (logical) On this computer I wish to install Windows XP sp3 (x86), Windows XP sp2 (x64) and Vista Ultimate sp1 (x64). What I wish for is 1st Partition - C: (primary) 2nd Partition - E: (primary) 3rd Partition - F: (primary) 4th Partition - G: (logical) 5th partition - I: (logical) What I have on this system is 7 Hard Drives (Total of 3 TB's - 5 SATA's, 500 GB's ea., and 2 IDE's, 1 300GB's and 1 200GB's ea.) 1 DVD/CD burner and a Card Reader that is recognized as 4 Removable Storage drives. Is there any possible way to control the partition recognition on any Operating System's Installation process?? Thanks for your response. LarryLaser
  4. Tough Question. Is there a possible way to control the Operating Systems recognition of the existing Hard Drives on your computer during the Installation?? The reason is Multiple Operating System : During the installation on my computer, the Windows Start_up recognizes the drive letters different than what I wish. I wish to set the drive letters to my desire. Is that possible?
  5. It says it's Windows XP SP3 compatible (x86 I assume), not x64 compatible. x64 libraries require specific x64 patching. By the way, for x86 XP I prefer XPLite, as is also not free software. Yes, but I want to fully disable WFP, like nlite does. But now I don't want to reinstall windows with an nlited copy. It must be some other way. Anyway, thanks for the help Any more suggestions? I googled but I don't find any specific x64 instructions. Hey XibaD From the Yamicasoft Site **note** always check the FAQ's and any other info source. Believe me, you will find the answers. sincerely LarryLaser
  6. mattofak Nope, it does not show up in Word, Word Pad, Web Pages or any e-mail, I can highlite (Edit, select all) and see the text but that is all.
  7. Hey mattofak Yep I have tried. Does not overwright, (have duplicate font files in the fonts folder). When I try to remove the old I get "Access Denied". Haven't figured out how to remove without removing Sys Attrib and turning off "WFP". Talked to MS ts, they said if I turned off "WFP" I would violate the EULA, and not get support again. If it were my computer I wouldn't care, but It is not Mine.
  8. Hello everyone I am Larry Armitage. I have been using computers since the mid 70's, comador, trash80 and the like. for the past 30 years I have been in the engineering business (mostly construction). I have used and worked on computers from proprietary, commercial and personal types both in my work and as a hobby. I am currently changing my career field to computer science. I have 5 different computers, each running different OS's Laptop, Toshiba A25-S208 WinXP Pro sp2 Desktop, home made, Soyo P4IS2, P4 2.4GHz, 1.5Gb 133mhz mem, 4HDD (total of 400Gig) Multi boot OS (Win2ksp4 {2ea one for testing}, Win2k Adv Server, Win2k3 Ent server {eval}, WinXP Home sp2 and Win XP Pro sp2. old desktop running a cyrix 150MHz, running Win 98se. and an iPaq5555 and a really old apple 2e (don't use any more) I am learning all the time how much I don't know about computers and programming, just learning how to hack files for analsys and repair.
  9. I have been a computer user since the mid 70's, Tried most OS's and lots of hardware. I am a big MS. fan, find it the most versitle and sometimes the most challenging. Lately I have been working on a career change from construction engineering to computer science. I help many in my community with their computers and operating systems, I also volenteer at a local school to teach basic computer science, including teaching Teachers how to integrate Technology into the Classroom. (nuff of the yada yada...) My challenge: I have a teacher running a Gateway 1.6 GHz© 256 MHz Windows XP Home SP2. For some reason Times New Roman (ttf) only, (alphabet) is not visable on her machine. In the font viewer on her machine the alphabet is not visable, numbers, special characters and copyright info all show up (and this is only true in the times.ttf file). All other files view correctly. It is the proper size (399 Kb), have checked for maulware - none. I can copy the file to disk and view on a different machine and it views fine, have compared to my sys (win xp pro sp2) and found a diff in (hex) lines Difference 17709h 19B0h 17709h 19B0h and Difference 169E0h 7CEh 169E0h 7CEh. Does anybody have a clue as to the cause of the problem and cure. Could there be a registry setting that is hiding the alphabet on this font file??
