  1. Here's a quicktip to make Cool'N'Quiet work with actual overclocking, while also being able to use the feats of cnq. Download a program called RMclock, i believe that was the name. In there you can set what clock frequencies your cpu should run at when idle, medium speed, and full speed. Or you could even add more steps. Combining this with other potential priority software you could have a clock set for 99% cpu usage(archiving/backup), and one for 100% (which would be gaming). And of course you could decide the lowest clock and thus have the lowest clock match the lowest voltage needed. So you dont give too much voltage, nor too little. Takes some time to set it up, but when its done its done. Also RmClock can be used as a portable program, as you can have setting files exported to whereever you like.
  2. Well i have said this before but i think x-setup is very straightforward. Just start record mode once in program, do changes as you like. export to registry files. F.ex 1 registry file for each category for easier maintance, ersfd spelling, and have nlite run from guirunonce, cmd /r regedit.exe /s mytweaks/appearance.reg , where appearance.reg is registry tweaks for icons, desktop, start menu etc. "Mytweaks" would then be a folder found on root of windows cd. Make sure to look over registry file before applying it to root out any duplicates or errors.
  3. I really like this idea of taking vista components that are of newer version then of those in xp, that works on xp, and thus being able to use them on xp as well. In short: This is a major kick a** good job sir. More please! =)
  4. That's an adsl router right? Why do you need drivers for it? Can you not configure it via web gui or telnet?
  5. Well that is the file.. It should contain path\file names. What do you mean by strange code?
  6. I really doubt you are including *ALL* hotfixes for xp x64 sp2. I have gone through all of them, and counting just hotfixes/security updates, comes to 142 unique fixes in total. Thats excluding IE, remote desktop, and other MS tools. I have only found 3 hotfixes out of those 142 fixes, that doesnt integrate with nlite. 1 of them is the european expansion font pack, and a update for that, plus one other. I described it in the nlite thread.
  7. I dont have it enabled so i cant check the filename, but as i recall there should be a .ini file in prefetch\ directory along with the prefetch files. This file will show you in what order windows loads prefetched files. It will also show you if you should clean up some prefetch files. Also startup menu directories etc are prefetched, usually.
  8. Since it doesnt exist, how can you then expect someone to give it to you? If you have prefetching active you can check that log for seeing what windows loads in what order.
  9. I was just thinking out loud on the .net 3.5sp1, and i like to do things that way. Only way to communicate. I noticed some problems with playing some flash movies yesterday with flash player 10 so it's not a keeper for me atm. I noticed that on xmllite too, tho it's funny that MS has packaged the same version with IE8. For no good reason then. Weird. msi.dll : I am fully aware nlite, more correctly windows hotfixes installations will not overwrite newer version, tho its marked as optional, im happy. On KB944043 i think it contains so much new things (newer versions of services etc.)it would be shame if you decide its not worthy to integrate. All this considered, i am running with every hotfix here mentioned, and then some, tho i havent installed that xmllite thing (was just noting it down). I am going to do a really nice reinstall today with everything, ie7 and wmp11 and all these hotfixes (after i have checked all wmp hotfixes) I will then check logs for eventual errors and so and report back if i find anything worthy of mention. update: i am currently going through all hotfixes i could download from hotfixshare, well over 100, now deleting duplicates and finding new versions. I will post a list with eventual findings. update2: few hours later of going through 150+ additional hotfixes or so, i've ended up on (142), correction 141 as of 21aug2008 , in total, hotfixes/security updates, not counting IE, remote desktop, xml and other things. That's a lot.. update: Amd has released amd dual core optimizer 1.14, new version after 2 years or so. Direct download link The MS XML 6 version inside .net 3.5sp1 seems to be newer then the one on microsofts KB article for it. At least the Security certificate for the one in .dot net was newer. I found it strange that the one downloaded manually was 2006 while .dn3.5 was 2007. Could be i was at wrong kb article tho. in old news: Visual c++ 2008 sp1 for both x86 and x64 was updated on 9th of august. I was sure i had updated already, but somehow i hadnt. Files are almost double in size 2mbish vs 4mbish.
  10. well that could be because of many things. How much software do you have in startup? Do you run anti virus? memory scanning on boot? those kind of things. Check for driver conflicts, event viewer logs. Prefetch enabled ? There's like a billion reasons. bootvis x64 doesnt exist google says, which is weird. I could have sworn i used to use it some years back.
  11. -DM- : download x-setup, among some 2000 tweaks or close to, i know that tweak is in there. Nuhi : Hotfix integration failed (Source XP X64 SP2 english/US, applied booogy's wmp11x64 with all hotfixes to that end): KB948046 New Printer drivers. 0.3.6001.22116 This fails to install with nlite, installs on manual. Reason why is probably because nlite will *not* integrate Windows European Union Expansion Font pack, which is just fonts, so also weird =) Temporary solution, install via batch file with updates. There's actually v2 of Win E.U.E. Font pack which includes them drivers as well. KB941602 Veritas® LDM diagnostic utility 5.2.3790.4235 This installs on manual install. Not really needed, not many of us has 1024 volumes or more on computer xD Still, it wouldn not integrate with nlite. Funny, because it is just one exe file update. KB947186 Client for NFS service 5.2.3790.4297 This hotfix installs on manual, even tho it should not according to KB article (says it for 2003 R2 only). Should also add i runned that nlite run with 150+ hotfixes/misc. I would be very happy if the euro font pack was doable, tho i have workaround for it. 2 last hotfixes here mentioned, DO INTEGRATE if all hotfixes are renamed so name is only KB123456.exe, strange.
  12. First off: why are you installing to D:\ ? Dual booting? And floppy for installing windows? That's last century kind of install. Changing those paths to winnt.sif would work, but changing them with nlite would not, in my setups anyway.Well it would work, tho there will be need to replace some entries in registry manually afterwards, so it isnt really a universal fix to it. I have successfully used \PF and pf(x86) and pf\cf and pf(x86\cf (program files\common files) Windows will determine if program to install is 32bit or 64bit, so no need to have extra long names as you illustrate, tho for someone it might be more satisfying with more informative names. Otherwise i suggest you post in windows x64 category instead, as these questions dont matter to this thread. I'm curious to how you will use the floppy in the install to what end though. I dont see any good reason for it. Except if to tell unattended setup to use settings on floppy disk, if floppy disk is inserted.
  13. Beta 2 due this month.
  14. You could always enable maximum 5000ms for closing programs and services. I've runned with those tweaks for years on end, no troubles. I'm sure system needs more time sometimes, but screw that.
  15. Well that's a gawdamn shame =) I like avast, but it does halt startup-process somewhat i think, even with memory scan on startup disabled.
  16. On another topic, sigh no one responds. How can i insert my key for Avast antivirus program in unattended?
  17. Sure, check out bootdisk.com they have a good handful and more of possible usb/flashdisk booting suggestions.
  18. Well i just read through from basic to intermediate to advanced and spent a couple of hours in total, writing down things as i went along. I was hoping the guide would go in more detail on runonceex but it doesnt =( I suggest some reference material reading which you should find on the same site.
  19. I use CDImage as well, i havent noticed if it wont boot from dvd. What boot image do you use? I use a self captured boot image from my x64 xp cd. You can capture the boot image with nero.
  20. Different, tho much the same. Echo Launching DirectX installation. %Source%Silence\directX.exe /t:"%temp%" /q pushd "%temp%" start /wait DXSETUP.exe /silent popd Suggest deleting temp dir after reboot instead, common practice. Wrote about this in Kurt's x64 thread, and it's the one method currently in use.
  21. That depends on the keylogger, how does it run. Does it need a setup/installer to be installable/runnable? How does it integrate in the os? Does it launch from logonui.exe is it msgina, possibly launched as a boot driver? This all depends on how advanced the key logger is, and without this information, it would all come down to guess work. Not that one can't make good guesses, but it wouldnt be wise to suggest things not known what one are referring to. Which i dont know.
  22. I think you have missed some important reading in that guide. And repacking? The whole point as i see it, is to not do any repacking, only creating new iso file of directory and burn it to install windows. Which is the beauty of it.
  23. Read post #2
  24. Why? Most people need it anyways, so bad idea.
  25. Sure it is really disabled? Try adding a shortcut to its directory manually. Or download TweakUI program and customize it from there.
