  1. I too am trying to integrate the .net runtimes. Which .net 2 runtimes are you referring to? These here, click me. Just install them whereever, i install them to nlite directory itself.
  2. I use 64k clusters here on xp x64, but when trying to change cluster size on c:\ with vista installed breaks vista installation. Tried it with acronis disc director suite, and while conversion to 64k on system partition went successfull, it wont boot or anything. Average copy here exceeds 100mb/sec. The nice thing with large clusters is less chance of disk fragmentation.
  3. Flashplayer updated : http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Macr...nload_locations or: http://www.free-codecs.com/Adobe_Flash_Player_download.htm also Microsoft Directx August 2008 Redistributable is finally out:
  4. First off: Try with newer version of nlite. Secondly you could try searching for any file with contents of "nlite_os" and see if you find your file and check path is valid.
  5. i have exaktly the same problem but ,next time iam not gonna tutch it.maybe it shuld be so ? If done correctly with nlite or other winnt.sif manual methods, these directories should be empty. Just test your next iso build in a VM and check that they are empty, they should be. Then just add somewhere in your setup to delete them automatically echo Removing Incorrect Program folders rmdir /S /Q "program files (x86)" rmdir /S /Q "program files (x86)(x86)"
  6. More DevilMayCry4 checking: Did a clean real install of windows, had removed wmp and wmp compability but kept "acm core codecs", so i know it isnt that. Game wouldnt start so installed wmfdist.exe , "Windows Media Format 11 Runtime" . So game needs codecs basically. It worked without wmp11 player installed. So it would be nice with a pack that includes all wmp11 codecs, but without any of the services and other crap/bloat that it installs. Google away. Windows Search 4.0 vmware: deleted imapi service with imapi 2.0 being installed, error showing up in event viewer The protocol handler Search.Mapi2Handler.1 cannot be loaded. Error description: Class not registered Searching still seems to work tho. i've only removed partially imapi files (1.0 files, not 2.0)
  7. Volatus: I agree whole heartily nlite needs more lovin' However, there are ways to improve xp beyond just using nlite to remove components. What i suggest is you read up on gosh's method for removing upgrade installation part. The quick way: go through the first steps, but skip the multi boot steps, and just copy i386 and amd64 folders from c:\, that the install process generated. copy back dosnet.inf from xp with your service pack slipstreamed. Now nlite does this also but i feel it does the process more dirty On my xp x64 i have created a source with xp x64 sp2 and unpacked all *.**_files, and updated them manually, then did same with sp2.cab and driver.cab, and any other files you want. With update i mean to take hotfixes and extract them with winrar. For x64 use "wow" folder to find files for i386 and non-wow folders for amd64 files. This way you can create a truly 100% updated windows source. I've tried this and it works awesome! You will need some tools tho, like directory opus for file version checking, virtual machine for tests, and set off a good day's work to get it done, and patience, and long nails =) Just remember to use a patched sfc file and tweak and you'r good 2 go. Otherwise there's activation hell beyond belief. =)) edit: I'm so going to create some icons for p-serv.cpl =)
  8. Gawd im good. Sounds like microsoft material to me =) You should apply for job there, they had many problems with organizing teams programming on vista
  9. Read the forums, ryanvm is good as well as nlite applications sub forum. unattended.msfn is nice as well as gosh's site. For everything and more please visit www.google.com It will provide you with everything you could possible hope to know that everyone else knows. Almost.
  10. Well its not a nlite bug i think. I had same problem always, googled it, its microsoft.
  11. On topic: Nlite 1.4.8 doesnt remove modem drivers and service pack messages for several languages on xp x64 sp2. Checked with source that is decompressed (un-cabbed *.**_ files). Anyone care to confirm? Look for ww03*** files and mdm*** files. under both amd64 and i386 folders. catx: Looks like error yes.
  12. well i've done x64 installs of xp since it came out, i've already asked for preset, so dont know what you to expect. Im not doing mind reading, sorry. =)
  13. Hm i installed .net 3.5 successfully pre-login on nlited system a couple of months ago. No troubles, just keep printer service on automatic, and voila. At least thats what i remember, wrote about it in kurt's x64 thread i think. or nlite what to not remove perhaps. I got memory like a goldfish, almost.
  14. Well i figure he works at microsoft or something =)
  15. Happy-Dude: Exactly what kind of programs do you develop? Dont take this the wrong way, but i'd be scared of using em, lol. =)
  16. If i have an account named administrator, and make a new one and a folder exist with administrator name, then it will be named administrator."computername". Which is basically what i said already.
  17. While possibly, technically, doable to reverse sp when slipped and not installed, i wouldnt recommend it anyway. Too many things altered to reverse most likely. I would just forget it.
  18. wait a moment, do u mean you name your computer for USER?? "Administrator.USER (Administrator dot computer name) "
  19. catx: do you still get messages in event viewer as normal?
  20. Devil May Cry 4 = needs wmplayer codecs. At least Wmvcore.dll, i will perhaps do a new install to check this. btw: I had removed wmplayer and shell media handler and everything codecs from install, even wmplayer compability with nlite 1.4.8, but wmplayer 11 would still install, and game runs fine. Wmplayer even plays files. Im sure some parts of it is broken, but nothing that is visibile per usage so far. edit: Needs windows media format 11 runtime.
  21. Happy-Dude: I am now going to make you very very very happy. Simply download X-Setup. Start recording mode, do any tweaks you like, stop recording/export to a registry file. import regfile with cmd /r regedit /s yourregfile.reg or any method you like otherwise, batch or inf. HAVING SAID THAT, if i were to do that, i would first try to verify any registry tweaks im not sure about if is true or not. ALSO: Remember that registry locations and names may be different from various versions of windows, service packs, and even hotfixes. edit: if you do this, ill be happy to look over any tweaks if they'r valid or not, or make general recommendations.
  22. Well i know you can have cleanup.cmd called with runonceex.cmd at least. It kinda depends on what unattended method you go with. I've gone through the unattended.msfn from basic to advanced, and it is a bit confusing imho, but hey it works =) I'd just read on the reference there first. But imho the info there seems a bit outdated, and not really complete either, not that it was ever meant to be complete. edit:By confusing i mean that it isnt a true process, it tries to cover to much ground. I'm going to read on gosh's unattended in while. In fact, for anyone reading this= good recent links on runonceex inf method=most welcome.
  23. No it isnt corrupt. I have simply removed files not needed for a normal windows installation. It's nlite that wants the files. I ran the install and vmware, and while i got error messages, the install went thru. I then added back dosnet.inf for x64 sp2 source, and no other changes, and nlite gave no errors and no errors during install. So i know what i am doing =) (Btw: i am not the guy who was trying to do x64 slipstreaming from 32bit, even tho i say that that works, you sound confused.=)) I just think its weird that nlite relies on this dosnet.inf file and cant use txtsetup instead that windows itself will work with. It might be that an real install would fail, i dont know, and dont have an extra hd to test on atm, but i am intrigued.
