  1. The user who's the OP in this thread http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=85377 apparently used it but it didn't help him much...
  2. You were right, i just tried settings of 40000, 50000 and 60000. After a lot of reboots and narrowing my personal maximal MaxPhysPage value, my system boots with values up to 48AE4(hex), while a value of 48AE5 and above leads to "Insufficient memory to initialize Windows." A very strange number imo. Changing the AGP Aperture Size or MinFileCache and MaxFileChache values does not affect this MaxPhysPage limit on my computer. MaxPhysPage=48AE4 yields 1161MB Ram. Please post your hardware configuration.
  3. If most CHMs are fine then there is nothing wrong with your system as it is the fault of badly written CHM files.

  5. I usually format and partition drives with FDISK *before* actually installing XP...
  6. Is there heavy hard disk activity during this?
  7. ROFL You actually encountered this? Also... wrong forum.
  8. Lol, liked the 'shop on that box there. Any idea what it was originally?
  9. Program(s): Various text-binary codec filters. They were intended for use with PDFs but I find them useful for the occasional decoding/encoding of URLs, cookies, and other miscellaneous things. Description: - Encode16 - Decode16 - Encode64 - (I didn't write a Decode64 for some reason...) - Encode85 - Decode85 - rot13 Language: Asm Usage: filter < infile > outfile cat infile | filter_1 | filter_2 | filter_3 > outfile etc. Self explanatory. bincod.zip
  10. Isn't the Manifest resource just a text file? ...and also, why is the help file nearly ten times the size of the program itself? It doesn't seem to contain that much info...
  11. Could you explain a little bit more, and also how you're doing this? (Global hook, injected DLL into systray, etc.) A small image showing what you intend to change the color of is also appreciated.
  12. In other words, this is more of a "see, it can be done in VB!" than anything truly useful.Probably could be done in VB. Like the post above, you'll have to handle a *lot* of window messages yourself, instead of letting Window's own window manager do the work for you.
  13. No, that's why most DLLs have relocs. They can be relocated somewhere else, and usually that somewhere else is immediately next to the previously loaded one.Of course, I'm talking about small lesser-used DLLs here. Rebasing the kernel and shell DLLs is just pointless, since their load addresses are fine as-is.
  14. Are you using Admin account?
  15. Hmm... http://www.google.com/search?q=644749864&a...tart=0&sa=N
  16. Actually the main format I'm using for archives at the moment is LZH/lh7... compression is better than ZIP, comparable to RAR and decently fast.
  17. Get a bigger antenna?

    ready boost

Bad idea to use a flash drive like that anyway... as noted numerous times, flash memory has a relatively short lifetime.
  19. Serve from your own connection and hardware if you have the bandwidth to do so. ...and adding extra storage is particularly easy, as well as fixing problems that you encounter.

  21. ...and if they're blocking sites and trying to "correct" DNS queries then I'm definitely not going to use them.

    Bad Modem *2

Make sure it's really the modems that are dead and not the computer killing them!
  23. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subpixel_renderingNot that it'd be a good idea anyway, since text turns funny colors.
  24. You have 10° more.http://www.gen-x-pc.com/cputemps.htm - 65° maximum.
  25. Is that really such a serious problem? I didn't even see any differences between the two images until I looked very carefully. Most of your site's users are probably going to think the same way.
