  1. Kill the versioncheck on and fix the ME version and release that. Supposedly M$ has already corrected some small bugs in the ME version so you won't need to do as much
  2. Why would they want to make such a patch anyway? Well... Firefox is open-source, so if it doesn't work for you go ahead and change it...
  3. cd "program files" pkunzip -e marbles.zip
  4. Indeed. explorer.exe resides in \windows and not \windows\system. If you do find an explorer.exe in the sysdir, it might be malicious.
  5. I'm still figuring out how to unpack the installer and install this thing manually, since I have a system with a 945GM but they only want to support 945G. I want to force the 945G drivers on it, I think it should work fine since the two are very similar. (It says "unsupported chipset" when run). There already is a modded Scitech SNAP Graphics video driver that supports the Intel 910G(ML), 915G, 945G, among other video chipsets, around the net, it seems.
  6. That grey bar is the initial kernel memory image load. I really think you should check your hard drive for physical damage. That initial load should only take a few seconds. Tried BootVis?
  7. Well, M$ is still selling XP so OEMs aren't going to be worrying anytime soon...
  8. It depends where you are, since if you're farther away you'll get higher latencies.
  9. Need I repeat myself again?
  10. No Start learning. http://www.computerhope.com/msdos.htm
  11. Is IE set to accept cookies?
  12. If you don't know any DOS commands you should start learning. http://www.computerhope.com/msdos.htm
  13. What I need I'm afraid is a step by step guide, in which all concepts are explained - in other words, assuming no prior knowledge (of DOS and configuration files). I want: 1. Do this using this (which is this) 2. Then do this (this means this - it is just a kind of that) 3...... Etcetera. Step. By. Step. Please. By the way, if PROBLEMCHYLD and I can't get our heads around it, then probably others can't, too. Perhaps you're not worthy of using it if you can't understand it
  14. Might be some process running in the background and loaded at startup that's doing it.
  15. I don't know if you can call into the API with VBscript, but... ...and...
  16. http://hddguru.com/content/en/software/ Run some of those diagnostic programs on it to check for defects.
  17. Install, then copy all the files over to D: ? You might have to change some paths in the registry that are related to it (use Regmon during installation).
  18. Now that one works fine. Some files were seemingly undeleted, but their content is not. I suppose that's just because it was overwritten already and not because of a flaw in the program itself.
  19. Any heavy hard disk activity during this? What's the CPU usage?
  20. What about reinstalling DirectX 9.0c itself?
  21. Official drivers: http://www.ovt.com/products/usbdownloads.asp XP seems to be supported, not sure about 64-bit...
  22. What kernel do they use? If they're custom floppy images that don't have standard filesystems (MemTest86+ is an example) then I can see the point, but if they're all DOS utilities or something similar then having a DOS kernel on each floppy image is just a waste of space, not that it really matters... but still, IMHO it's a bit better to have everything "unified" and accessible from one command prompt.
