  1. ROFL... owned.
  2. Those links need to be fixed. Lol.. bandwidth indeed...
  3. Start -> Search What, you never knew that?
  4. Their Ghost is rather nice though...
  5. Microsoft Installer Why not... it's what M$ uses and besides, you're packaging M$ files...
  6. What exactly are you downloading from? The servers on the other end have to be able to supply the data at that speed as well, and in the case of websites they usually serve several hundred to several thousand users at once.
  7. ATA33: 33MB/s (deprecated) ATA66: 66MB/s (deprecated) ATA100: 100MB/s ATA133: 133MB/s SATA (1): 150MB/s SATA (2): 300MB/s DDR RAM: 1.6GB/s and above
  8. That's because part of that loading is loading BootVis itself... Have you defragged the hard drive? That could be another cause besides physical damage.
  9. Have you tried doing it yourself?
  10. Do they occur for all file types? If so, start the registry editor and go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\ Delete any additional context menu items you don't need from there. If they only occur on certain file types, select the extension's folder in the left, notice the default value on the right, then scroll down on the left until you find the folder with the same name as the default value mentioned earlier. Open it, open the shell\, and continue as above. ...and since when did ZoneAlarm add a context menu entry?
  11. You don't need an antivirus or firewall if you secure your XP installation properly and be cautious of downloaded executable files. http://virusscan.jotti.org multiscanner is best for downloaded files.

  13. If it's not something very confidential and you don't want to have to install anything... http://www.pdfonline.com/ Adobe themselves have a self-service online converter at http://createpdf.adobe.com/ but for some reason their site is unusably slow for me.
  14. Disabled? That's a good thing. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=86132
  15. 1. I wouldn't mind a blank bootscreen, since I think almost all of you would agree with me on the point that the less time you spend looking at it, the better 2. The scrollbars look unfinished, since the buttons appear to be missing. Definitely not too encouraging, as the only time I've seen scrollbar buttons disappear is when the GDI runs low on resources and it doesn't draw them. The sidebar also looks unfinished. Maybe they plan to add more lines of text to it... but I agree, the background graphic is just distracting and the colors aren't too pleasing either. Note also the background image and color scheme of http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/ - it looks depressing. 3. A separator would be nice.
  16. One word: ramdrive. Maxes out an IDE or SATA interface and nearly zero seek time.
  17. Google a program called "Proxifier". Proxomitron only works on HTTP, while Proxifier works with all types of connections (and uses SOCKS proxies).
  18. In my experience Intel mobos seem to be of lower quality than some of the other low-end Taiwanese brands. Their CPUs are fine, but most of the other hardware they make is just... low-quality. Why didn't you buy Asus?
  19. I don't use any anti-* programs constantly running in the background either. Downloaded files can be scanned with http://virusscan.jotti.org which uses many different AVs. With a secured IE and a user's brain that isn't stupid, nothing has happened to me so far
  20. It might be a hardware problem...
  21. Wow... looks like they made it really easy this time for the pirates...
  22. ActiveX, you say... If anyone has a link to a malicious site using this exploit, I would appreciate it. This isn't scaring me at all. Learn to SECURE YOUR IE!
  23. It has happened.
  24. Yes, a versioncheck can be done with the MSI. See the (freely downloadable) MSI SDK documentation for more information.
