  1. Most likely it was some sort of malware that got picked up by your anti-virus but it left its entry in the start-up items. Glad you solved your issue
  2. Click on the Start button, go to "Run..." and type in the new box "msconfig" without the quotes. Now go to the start-up tab and un-tick the box that says "auto1.vbs". Restart and you are good to go Good luck!
  3. That fluid would be a special liquid for computer water cooling, distilled water with active ingredients to protect the pipes against corrosion and various deposits (dirt, lime, etc). It comes in various colours, mine is U/V black, for example, but there are also, red, blue, transparent...
  4. AFAIK SteadyState *does* work with x64 systems... Have you tried it?
  5. Nice, but how did you secure the pipes onto the CPU block? I don't see any fasteners or anything... Did you just plug them in and that's all? If so, get yourself some screw-driven fasteners (you can find them in any car parts shop) and secure the pipes! Anyway, nice set-up
  6. I know Auzentech make good cards although I would go for this M-Audio card (even if it costs $29 over your budget)...
  7. You can try a repair from the Vista disk. Hope you'll fix it, I know how it feels to lose important data... Good luck!
  8. Happy Birthday, Punto!!!!! Have a beer for me too
  9. I'm using one of these: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseand...ls.aspx?pid=043. Great keyboard, quite silent and has all the media keys I need. And as CoffeeFiend and dencorso said, YMMV...
  10. This might be a dumb question, but did you try a different keyboard?
  11. the DMP files are NOT stored in the Windows folder, nitropuppy. They're stored in the \Windows\Minidump\ folder as I remember correctly. could be a mis-behaving or corrupted device driver causing that BSOD. had that a few times on my XP machine. replaced a bad driver that caused the problem with a clean one and the BSODs never came back. I was NOT talking about minidumps As cluberti already said, there is a sticky on top of this section where you can learn how to set up your machine for a complete memory dump. Cheers
  12. In the main BIOS of your computer. Good luck!
  13. As cluberti said, that`s a misbehaving driver, but in order for us to pinpoint the culprit we need any .dmp files you may have in C:\Windows\ folder. Please upload them somewhere and come back with a link for us to download and have a look-see
  14. I believe the OP is talking about some sort of software that was installed on XP (i'm talking about the keyboard driver here)... Try looking on the keyboard manufacturer's website for a Vista-compatible driver. Good luck!
  15. In IDE mode, the transfer rate is limited to IDE-speed If you want your thing to go faster, you should check your BIOS for the AHCI option and enable it. There is a sticky here that will help you jump to AHCI from IDE mode without reinstalling your whole OS. Good luck!
  16. "You are .jpg You are very colorful. Sometimes you forget things, or distort the truth. You like working with pictures more than words." `nuff said
  17. In this topic you tell a different story... What's the issue in the end? Unless you provide real info, we can't help you
  18. When you select the file(s) to be copied, press F5 then F2 and in the new window at the bottom you can set the transfer speed in kb/s. Hope this helps
  19. It does make a difference for me too. And that's on a 21" Viewsonic wide.
  20. I've found on some laptops that unless you install the proper sound drivers, the modem wouldn't show up.
  21. Hello and welcome to THE forum! Please take some time to read our rules and enjoy your stay here!
  22. neo is right on this: the sidebar will open one process and some (third-party) gadgets will open their own process(es).
