  1. SM, We are getting some really inconsistent 403 reports from your IP. The latest ones look like the request and referrer are reversed. I can't spot a trend and am, quite frankly, stumped as to why this is happening to you. I've successfully downloaded all files with three different browsers on two different hosts. You aren't the only one who has had a problem, but you ARE the only one kind enough to report back so far. Anyone else having issues? I changed the referrer checking code around a bit...please see if you get different results now.
  2. Try another, preferably shorter, cable and see if that helps.
  3. Which router port is the server connected to? The other workstation's connectivity is OK? After the laptop gets the IP, can it ping the gateway address? The router's IP will be taken from the broadband device it is connected to for internet access. On the SETUP tab you probably have "DHCP" in the first drop-down box and that tells the router to get its IP from the internet/WAN port.Make sure your DHCP server's scope is using the same subnet as the router.
  4. Side note: if you wanted to go wireless, you could try dropping the speed to gain better connectivity through the walls. The latest WiFi chipsets have longer range at slower speeds because they actually have quite a bit of processing power and by dropping the speed more processing power is available to help resolve the signal. Think about the difference between 54 and 1 mbps in terms of available processing power. And since the broadband signal you are trying to use is generally less than 1mbps, there isn't much reason to ask the AP for more unless you are trying to game over it. Also try using the lower WiFi channels. Lower wavelengths have a better shot at making it through walls since more energy is going forward horizontally instead of vertically. In the case of WiFi, the channels are so close together that it doesn't matter terribly much. But every little bit helps! I've used these tactics in what amounted to Korean War-era hardened shelters and they helped me get connectivity in that very challenging environment. Special thanks to Bob Cringely for teaching me some of this stuff.
  5. Welcome to MSFN When you say that "it doesn't see the modem" do you mean that you aren't getting an IP? Or are you getting an IP but not able to reach the internet? Can you ping the gateway IP?
  6. A proxy can also affect referer logging.

  8. New version (0.4) is uploaded. The link hasn't changed.
  9. Hi Welcome to the community!
  10. Sure, send it over. It is no trouble.
  11. SM, what browser are you using? This is what you are reporting as your referer: ...and some other similar reports.A valid referer should include the domain name, and this is what we check.
  12. Some browsers have a setting that will let you disable referer checking. In Opera, for example, it is on the F12 menu near the bottom. Please enable referer checking/logging for hfslip.org.
  13. I have the same board+cpu and I use nvidia's drivers on Win2000. Performance is great. Sorry, no experience with XP.
  14. The file is here.
  15. You can attach it here or I'll host it for you if you email it to me at tainspamatyahoodotcom. Do NOT remove the spam

  17. You can use http://www.dyndns.com/ to compensate for the changing IP. I got about 50kb from your site, but was downloading some other stuff as well. Your site is neat. If you want feedback on it you should consider posting in the websites forum.
  18. I'm no Office expert, but I would try giving the people permissions to send the email "on behalf of" the mailbox you want to receive the replies. And then teach them how to use it. That oughta do it, but test it first.

    Codec slipstreaming

Yeah, I am on-line...been trying to post this message for half hour or so. Trying to help a guy with his network issues via IM To install the MSFN pack: On an existing machine: unpack to some folder right-click on codec.inf and click INSTALL On a pre-HFSLIP setup (OS not installed yet): Replace contents of HFEXPERT/CODECS with this pack We are just trying this out to see if it can help us find a problem so go ahead and overwrite the files.
  20. Here is a guide from a dreamhost user.
  21. Is Active Directory in mixed mode? Native mode doesn't support NT.
  22. Seagate makes decent drives but their support is hit-or-miss. I recently had a really tough time getting a replacement drive from them. WD is consistently the best with product AND service, IMHO. Maxtor is horrible. Make sure you check the warranty before you buy a new drive. You can tell a lot about a company and their products by the warranty they offer.
  23. ABET-accredited programs get lots of respect and tend to be more difficult than non-ABET programs.
  24. That looks like a neat app. Their "other links" page has a good list of national agency links for a bigger perspective. Wikipedia has a nice overview of the hurricane season.
  25. Welcome to the community! Hopefully you get the help you are seeking.
