  1. Thanks, I've never heard of this either, I'll just tell him to delete normal.dot. Thanks again Paul
  2. My friend is having problems with his MS Office, he has had it installed for about 3 months but all of a suden when he creates a new document (or spreadsheet) and tries to type it tells him that the document cannot be amended, also it has a lock icon at the bottom of the page. Any ideas anyone?
  3. We have a Windows Server 2000/3 network but have an NT4 server on another site with a different subnet, the NT4 server can browse/ping the 2000/3 servers and everything seems fine but when a user changes their password on the 2000/3 server it isn't synchronizing with the NT4 server, thus users not being able to browse the NT4 server as it thinks the users logon credentials are incorrect and locking their account. The weird thing is when we put the NT4 server on the same subnet as the other 2000/3 servers it replicates fine Any ideas guys?
  4. When I receive a new email is isn't displayed until I click on my of the previously received mails (if that makes sense) which is a little annoying
  5. How would I change a computer name without actually visiting the machine?
  6. You really need to follow the guide thoroughly. the unatended.txt should be simply renamed to winnit.sif & placed in the i386 folder one level below the root of your disk. This has been documented here many times & sure a simple search would have revealed this for you good luck & welcome to MSFN. Sorry I'm new to the unattended thing and didn't know what to search for, I tried what you suggested but still get the message saying that \windows already exsists and do I will to delete it, in which iI have to press 'L' to confirm
  7. I can't find any winnt.sif, it's a batch file called unattend.bat that runs and their is a txt file call unattend.txt which has all the passwords, keys, etc in it. Unattend.txt has 'AutoPartition=1' in it which surely means I don't meen to tell it which partition to use?
  8. I have used the XP deploy tool to create a Win XP unattended answer file which works fantastic but I still have to select the partition from installation at the 'blue screen', if their anyway of making this automatic?
  9. How do I build an .msi file? I've searched on google and technet but can't find anything
  10. Thanks for the reply, how do I add RunOnceEX to the registry keys? Sorry about this I'm not the most technical
  11. Hi Guys, I'm new to the unattended thing but basically I want to install software onto a PC across our network without actually attending the machine, I was hoping that their was some cheap (or free) software that I could specify the software, the PC name and a username/password and it would install it. Our network consists of 4 Win 2000 server machines, 1 MS SQL 2003 server and XP/2k PC's Please help
