You don't... You need to "dump" the whole CAB contents (folders and all) then use the appropriate CABARC or MAKECAB programs. "CabPack" uses Makecab and should work for you (GUI interface). Temporarily unavailable? http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/cabpack.htm You can also get it here - http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2056&sid=2347ec2364e2bfd07947340482072eea Above doesn't work for me. You can try if you want. Look for "cabpck14.zip" here - http://ftp.sunet.se/pub/simtelnet/win95/compress/ Version 1.4a name is "upgr_14a.zip" - haven't found an alternate for it yet BUT it's inside the "SUPP.CAB" within this - http://www.htasoft.com/u98sesp/ edit - AHHHH! Good old Wayback! http://web.archive.org/web/20110717101929/http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/cabpack.htm

There was a v0.36 (Alpha) and the one above is ALSO "Alpha", so.... This is from the ReadMe I don't have any accounts anywhere to upload. Maybe someone else would be willing to make a ZIP with the files in it and upload it.Not me... Sorry... edit - To be honest, I'm not sure that would be allowed anyway. As I said, all that I can find points back to the Author's website so one might assume that the Author has no intentions of allowing redistribution and doesn't state anything about that in the ReadMe. Contact Information here (France + email address / semi-confirmed) - http://dailywhois.com/domain/winreducer.net Oddly, the Server appears to be in USA - http://wsdata.com/2012-10-08/winreducer.net-domain-information.html

I'm actually afraid I cant give you the link. It has Imagex, Oscdimg, and Setacl in it, besides 7-zip (both x86 and x64 of each file). It also includes Reshacker. Here's the name of the file - winreducer8_v0.38.1.zip There's both and x86 and x64 version - WinReducer8_x32 and WinReducer8_x64 as well as two PDF's (ChangeLog and ReadMe). edit - All searches point back to the original website. Sorry...
-
Works for me. - http://www.winreducer.net/download.html I now have a 6mb file that I have no need for. Also see this thread - P.S. - Remove your email address.

"Strange error" is NOT a good Topic title! 1 - What was and now is the Disk Layout? Normally, Win98 is FIRST (C-Drive) and 2000/XP is SECOND (D-Drive). 2 - What SIZE are the Partitions (Partition 1 = C-Drive / Partition 2 = D-Drive) 3 - You said FIRST an IDE Drive and Replaced with SATA Drive - IDE mode, correct? 4 - Win98 SHOULD be booting via the Windows 2000/XP Boot Selection screen, since BOOT.INI, NTLDR, and NTDETECT.COM should be on the C-Drive. Correct? 5 - Where did you put the 2000/XP PAGEFILE? You SHOULD have moved it OFF of the C-Drive (if that's where it put it).
-
Try here - http://www.filehorse.com/download-silverlight-64/ Edit - And AFAIK, the x64 Windows has BOTH 32-bit AND 64-bit IEXPLORE.EXE Edit2 - DOH!!! Well that SAME PAGE has a link to the 32-bit.

? The link inside is for v1.0. Get it here - http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/

@ricktendo - Dude! Chill! Like/dislike anyone you want! I just found it "interesting reading". The posts weren't MEANT for anything else. They DO have a tendency to knock any other Forum - and NOT just a "single user". Google told me that. Personally, I frequent what I consider "useful" Forums, almost exclusively this one. Others are Reboot, RVM, Wincert ,(etc) - you know, those that HELP you with CORRECT info and nifty tools/tips. The POINT was the hateful attitude found over at neowin. (paraphrased example - "HAHA! MSFN doesn't have news on their front page like WE do!" Childish, yes?) Indeed, at ONE point in time on MSFN "neowin = <<spam>>" and vice-versa. (see last comment on the given link before it was locked for attitude example). Google msfn spam site:neowin.netand the filter was (as at MSFN) finally removed. Who knows (and who really cares) what the "deal" was? I've already (troll) posted in this Topic already as follows - http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=155290&view=findpost&p=1000896 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=155290&view=findpost&p=1001207 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=155290&view=findpost&p=1001636 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=155290&view=findpost&p=1001845 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=155290&view=findpost&p=1002366 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=155290&view=findpost&p=1028206 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=155290&view=findpost&p=1029243 It SEEMS as if you may have misinterpreted my post comment based upon the content of yours. Please be so kind as to not take such offense. Personally, I admire your expertise and have learned a few things from you and thank you for it. Until such time I actually encounter Windows 8 "hands on" I guess I'll just bow out.

Didn't read that page fully? Seems they don't like us much, especially "Charlotte". I had done a Google msfn site:neowin.netto show another user how "useful" they now are (not very). Doing the reverse yields a lot as well. My point being, since "Charlotte" popped on them about being "Windows 8 Fanboys", I thought I would chirp in about it. Funny, they look to US for Win8 "fixes" too, not to mention MANY other tools, tips, (etc). Seems our website is NOT to be discussed over there (note the LAST post and topic LOCKED). Just funny that the REAL techie sites (like RVM, MSFN) get the recognition, but not "high hit counts" but Fanboy Websites do. Oh, well, who cares - found an MSFN thread that basically said (sic) "ignore them - they send non-Fanboys to us". (Main Forum "Affiliated" - no RVM...) P.S. I have no burning desire for Win8/2012 - have only "battled" (de-trojan'ed) someone else' Win7 so far (will go for that one or maybe 2k8).

How to edit registry so that it doesn't need to restart before ins
submix8c replied to Gibbs's topic in Windows XP
Sorry, I don't understand this then... If you mean after nLite, they're Slipstreamed into the I386 Folder, just like the Service Pack 3 is Slipstreamed. (Slipstream = Integrated)JFYI, RyanVM has (after you search for them) "Add-Ons" for the "other" UPGRADE Packages (e.g. DotNET, MSXML, etc) that more than likely will include all of the associated "Updates" (the ones MS Update "found") that will probably (if it says so in the description) be nLite Compatible. (SEE MY PREVIOUS POST - LAST LINK GIVEN) Example (dotNET) - http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8316 Directly found via google "net framework" site:ryanvm.netdotNetv4 - http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8317 Page #2 gives a link to "onepiece" Add-Ons. Google "net framework" nonno site:ryanvm.net Likewise google "msxml" nonno site:ryanvm.net Being aware that the ISO will expand in size to MAYBE DVD size. I'm not really sure why you seem so confused. -
Interesting thread - (see last post). www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1112185-msfn-forumite-calls-neowin-fanboy-central/ One wonders why there's an affiliation on our Main Forum page when clearly RyanVM is affiliated... Even Wincert is more useful. (apologies for interjection - stumbledupon)

How to edit registry so that it doesn't need to restart before ins
submix8c replied to Gibbs's topic in Windows XP
You typed that BEFORE my Edit (go back and read it - just before your post). I see dotNet and XML... Clarification - UDC is NOT an "Update PacK". I thought I explained that/ These are FULL MS UPDATE FILES, unlike "Update Packs". Each File that MUST be made into an Add-On due to some "glitch" that MS presented -OR- that nLite doesn't handle properly (e.g. MediaPlayer) -OR- MS didn't provide the LATEST -OR- MS provided ONLY a CAB file (no installer) -AND- Adobe "SWFLASH" Player (NOT updated by MS), then THOSE are "reconstructed" into CAB "Add-On" files by the "UDCxxx.BAT". You just KEEP confusing the two. Don't do that! WITHIN that "UDCxxxx" FOLDER is EVERY SINGLE REAL "FILE.EXE" from MS and ALL "FILE.CAB" are LITERALLY constructed from ORIGINALS! Based upon UDC Downloader Files -AND- the SPECIFIC Instructions given in my "How To" Tutorial (see link) -AND- nLite, you will have a FULLY INTEGRATED CD, sans any "extras" like UPGRADES (which IE8 and WMP11 are), which INCLUDES but is NOT LIMITED TO, NET Framework, MSXMLv4, etc etc. AND "Update" is NOT an "Upgrade" or "New" Component. Didn't you notice you needed NETv2 to run nLite/WMP11? NOT included in a Clean Install from CD!!!! Notice that IF you were to Install from "scratch" on an Empty HDD, and use "Custom" at the WU-website, you WILL see a BUNCH of "Optionals" (see the keyword "Optional"?). Alternatives for Full MS Files are "Windows Updates Downloader" and "Autopatcher". They are sometimes haphazardly "updated" (if at all), whereas -X- always is and RyanVM "Packs and Add-On's" usually are (but REMEMBER they are PACKS/ADD-ON's). HTH edit - With all due respect, QUIT USING AUTOSTREAMER! BTW, many RVM Members are "frequent flyers" here and vice-versa. We tend to ignore Neowin (fanboy website). Additionally, you probably could "toss" a MESS of those "update" files you stored long ago (already Superseded...). Start burning some "may be junk" backup CD's/DVD's. edit#2 - One might Wonder if all of those "failures" found in your Registry (fixed be Post #69 link) caused the Repair (actually UPGRADE) Install to hork up. edit#3 - re - Neowin - google msfn site:neowin.netNow google neowin site:msfn.orgnow google ryanvm site:msfn.org(see last edit for the RyanVM website) ---- EDIT (one..more...time...) ---- Unattended Guides http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/ Also note that nLite website speaks of "Add-Ons" as does RyanVM. Go here and see what happens - http://www.ryanvm.net/ -
How to edit registry so that it doesn't need to restart before ins
submix8c replied to Gibbs's topic in Windows XP
(Heh...) Post #68 meaning "look at post #69". HOW MUCH do you want to BET that a Repair Install -MY WAY- will completely CURE everything now - INCLUDING all of that "cleanup" I told you about. Betting that ALL of those Updates are in the UDC Download. GO CHECK/COMPARE THE FILENAMES! IOW, you have USELESSLY downloaded and installed a BUNCH of Updates via WU! EDIT! Nope, those APPEAR to be dotNet and "sundry". NOT ONE OF THE FILES IN WU LIST SHOULD BE IN -X- LIST!!! P.S. - Try "Custom" instead of "Express". "Express" sux! ( @#$%^& - having a REAL problem with saving the Pic Attachments - locks FF.) -
@PinkFreud - May be true, BUT (direct Copy/Paste of the Footnotes) - *4 - If you're slipstreaming IE8, replace WindowsXP-KB2761465-x86-ENU.exe with IE8-WindowsXP-KB2761465-x86-ENU.exe. *5 - If you're slipstreaming IE8, replace WindowsXP-KB2510581-x86-ENU.exe with IE8-WindowsXP-KB2510531-x86-ENU.exe. *6 - If you're slipstreaming IE8, replace WindowsXP-KB2797052-x86-ENU.exe with IE8-WindowsXP-KB2797052-x86-ENU.exe. An "error"? Seems like a "combo-fix", kind of like that stupid "Kernel-Mode" fix that I played bejeebus tracking down WTH MS did. (Krap, Now I have to track down another booger...) edit - KB2799329 was a post-Jan-Patch-Tuesday Update. I don't have it (used the Original UDC script before that was added). BWAHAHAHAH! A "FixIt" provided. Betting it's a stupid REG entry! http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2799329 NOPE! FixIt is a "workaround" - (sigh...) Replacement has "MSHTMLED.DLL" changed instead of "MSHTML.DLL". Here we go! @!#$%^&!!!!!!! Looks like they were SITTING on KB2792100! Compared the two and INDEED they have changed (dates only?) for all BUT "MSHTML.DLL" (apparently). So... what we're saying is that the -X- List for IE6->IE8 need changed for FootNote#4? Certainly APPEARS that way!!!! (Cumulative Update) Old - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2761465 (KB2799392 came in here...) New - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2792100 IE8 link here - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2ab64eac-8ecf-4178-9a01-5f10fc2f049e

How to edit registry so that it doesn't need to restart before ins
submix8c replied to Gibbs's topic in Windows XP
Placeholder (see post #68 and #69) - Will be back in about an hour. Proceeding to "stomp" on my "Sysprep Work" Computer. Please note that I have installed ALL fixes, Updates and ADDITIONAL SOFTWARES (e.g. Nero) on it MANUALLY, so it SHOULD "mirror" your Scenario EXCEPT the failures you speak of. Additionally, I will INTENTIONALLY uninstall WMP11 and INSTEAD install WMP10 to "proof" the scenario. DO NOT SCREW WITH YOUR PC! WE NEED A STABLE "TESTBED"!!! You DO want it completely "repaired", don't you? -
How to edit registry so that it doesn't need to restart before ins
submix8c replied to Gibbs's topic in Windows XP
Placeholder- I'll be back - taking grand-son to preschool. Still a couple of unanswered questions. Forget "placeholder". - X- below has pointed to a Topic that indicates two other Keys/Values that MAY or MY NOT be causing the WMP11 to "fail". I will NOT swear to this but WILL test the "Repair" using the "corrected" How To Integrate IE8/WMP11 instructions and MY Preferred Method. Those folders should be GONE GONE GONE!!!, Generally speaking, "Upgrade Install" should WIPE all files that are present ONLY ON THE CD, Delete all of the Folders I had specified (as they will NO LONGER APPLY), RETAIN the Registry (thus keeping ALL Installed Apps settings), and Reload ALL CD FILES to their appropriate place AND Reload all CD Registry Settings. Now, back to WMP11 - Unpacking JUST the Installer leaves SEVERAL OTHER FILES that are ALSO Installers! That's what the WMP11 Integrator takes care of. Didn't notice that, did you? Maybe you did and THAT is why you tried to use the "setup" AGAIN (pointless, as the Original does the same thing, but PASSES PARAMETERS as well). It's KIND of looking like that "WMP10" Install/Uninstall you had done FAILED and that MAY have been what horked it up (Reboot Required). Now, as for the WPA.DBL, the Date/Time should (as I said) show the LAST BOOT DATE (WPA rechecks itself to see if you radically changed hardware, requiring Reactivation). The "WPA.BAK" file had to be done by YOU at some point in time ("Method of retaining Activation" found from searching on it). As far as the MSOOBE" "trick", I had CORRECTED how to do that (and I specified it in the New Link on "How To Integrate"). Now, as for "Repair Install", as I said above I will use "Method C", which I had recommended YOU use. And as for thos FOLDERS, see Second Paragraph. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO UPDATE SQUAT (e.g. IE8) MANUALLY AT ALL! YOU WILL MESS UP THE TEST BED, DAMMIT! Continuing - 3 - Did you try the ORIGINAL fixes (the VIDEO) that I provided? 4 - You said "issues with installing certain MS products" - can you specify? * - There is ALSO an MSUPDATE FIX THAT YOU DID NOT DO (clean the MS Update "brains") Again, your LOG files that you previously provided tell a "story" of what you ATTEMPTED to do. FACT! In addition what's your deal with "Autostreamer"? http://www.pagestart.com/slipstreamsp3.html http://forums.windowsforum.org/index.php?showtopic=12480 http://www.ubcd4win.com/slipstream.htm It's a "Neowin" (fanboy) product - http://www.neowin.net/news/autostreamer-1033-released Are you aware that the First Link given that speaks of nLite is total BS? If you do NOT use anything OTHER than Service Pack and Hotfixes, it's FAR superior to Autostreamer. In addition you MAY not be aware that "the word on the street" is that Nuhi (nlite Creator) now works for Microsoft? ADDITIONALLY, can Autostreamer slipstream Drivers (bet the answer is NO)? This clearly demonstrates that Autostreamer is incapable of doing what nLite -OR- RVM Integrator can do. http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/575995-what-steps-to-take-to-get-fully-up-to-date-xp-cd/ -
How to edit registry so that it doesn't need to restart before ins
submix8c replied to Gibbs's topic in Windows XP
I will assume you did it EXACTLY as I said (post #62) in the linked post prior to the above. For some strange reason, FF was locking trying to get/save the image. I used an alternate method (software). (Adobe stuck in Memory/eating CPU...) 1 - I'm REALLY unsure as to WHY the "setup" program is "hi-lited" (as far as I can deduce, seeing as how it's BEHIND the Error Screen). Is that the Media Player Folder you're in? If so, why didn't you click on the Media Player file instead of the Setup File? 2 - Did you try to access it from the "Programs->Accessories->Entertainment" Menu? 3 - Did you try the ORIGINAL fixes (the VIDEO) that I provided? 4 - You said "issues with installing certain MS products" - can you specify? 5 - Did you try Windows Update yet, and if failing, the FIX directly from Microsoft? 6 - Have you checked to see if those "$NT*.*" Folders "magically" deleted? (see BAT file I provided) 7 - Have you checked to see if the ServicePack Folder got "cleaned" ("magically deleted")of the I386 folder (the one YOU installed loooong ago)? Those Folders should be LONG GONE!!!! and there should be nearly NO LOG files (the OTHER BAT I gave you) with a date AFTER the Repair Install WHICH method of Repair Install did you use? I RECOMMENDED Alternative #1 and gave my PREFERRED Alternative #2 (that I ALWAYS use). a - Boot to CD <-What you kept doing b - Autoplay/Setup from Running <-Recommended c - "WINNT32" from Running <-My Preferred I notice that you NOW have an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT SYMPTOM for MediaPlayer!!!! AGAIN, WGA comes into play EVEN WITH WMP11. Double-check the "Windows\System32\WPA.DBL" file for last-boot-date/time and run the MSOOBE command "for fun". You SHOULD be good on that AND running WMP11. We're not done yet, as you can see. -
There exists "Unofficial Add-Ons" that could be construed as a "Service Pack" over at RyanVM website. Here is an nLite Guide for getting everything directly from Microsoft and Integrating, including IE8 and WMP11. www.msfn.org/board/topic/162279-how-to-integrate-basic-updatesie8wmp11/ There will (probably) NEVER be anything more than that. Why reinvent the wheel?
-
No resistance - The Questioner asked about a (sic) File that you can't just "download" except perhaps in the Service Pack 1 or 2 and, AFAICT, the INF file has not changed "versions". The confusion was "why" due to the vein of the thread. Dencorso reiterated such a query. The Questioner then responded accordingly and questioned the purpose of the thread. I responded in kind. Bear in mind the Questioner obtained the File(s) originally found in the above Links and it specifically states "Windows 3.11 VESA plus a patch". They also stated that "AFAIK" the SERVER 2003 file(s) "should still work on 98SE". I find this to be dubious at best, otherwise Tihiy would have used a different file (maybe XP) except that APPARENTLY he "found" the Solution. I also pointed out that in Safe Mode the Value will be "fixed" to what the Driver (whichever) supplies. Simple and no problem. As for the File(s) in question, you know as well as I do we can't supply it. It's up to the Questioner (files were named by me) to "get" them and experiment to their heart's content.
-
Hmmm. not really sure (haven't looked into your MoBo BIOS settings) but the Memory usually can't be changed above the range of the CPU (AFAIK, depending on MoBo) - http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Bulldozer/AMD-FX-Series%20FX-6300.html It says that DDR3-1866 is supported. USUALLY "Auto" correctly sets it to the "slowest' Memory Stick. This should be moved to the "Hardware" section by a Moderator/Supervisor for more visibility.
-
Different Screen Resolution in Safe Mode, which is FIXED (go ahead, try to change it).
-
Huh! Maybe a comparison is needed to see what's broken in the Official ones, if that's truly what's causing the error.
-
@rulman / "bearing" - Why have you put a Turkish Translation of the Original Post? What's your point(less)? Remember the RULES say this is an ENGLISH Language Forum! http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?app=forums&module=extras§ion=boardrules Did you not SEE Posts #7 and #8 immediately before yours? Please don't do that again! Thank you.

? As long as it's recognized, my impression is that Win2000 and up supports up to 2.2tb. Maybe Win2K isn't mentioned because it's an unsupported OS? Notice that MAC OS doesn't show older either (and unsure IF older would support it). Someone will correct me if I'm wrong on this.
