(sigh...) NEW TWITTER SPAM ON STATUS UPDATES!

"lite-ing" = RT7LITE = removing/"lightening" Windows 7 = You still may go "boom". That post you linked to was NOT about RT7LITE. Reread that post and the one previous. BTW, did you see this? See post #3 then post#7 (a "better" software). From Google cache IOW, it's very similar to nLite/vlite. If you at those subforums, you'll find lists of "what not to remove".Basically, you're using a "defunct" and "failure-prone" "lite-ing" software. It's a dead project... And... apparently you CAN directly integrate Updates (ignore post#10) . ...THEN "lite" it. HTH Somewhat Off-Topic - installed Win7SP1u last week (someone else' PC recovery) and "manually" installed the Updates, just because I didn't want to "Integrate".

[SOLVED] Office 2000 Professional SR-1, DRM?
submix8c replied to bpalone's topic in Microsoft Office
??? Hosed registry??? Have you tried directly clicking (e.g.) WINWORD.EXE? Yes, it IS true that certain programs "self-alter" via the Product Key. The "original" version of "copy protection". -
Create a bootable CD/DVD from a set of floppies
submix8c replied to Multibooter's topic in Windows 9x/ME
(again O/T) ARGHHH! Just tried using an older Free Membership. Apparently, DriverGuide tracks the # of downloads and limits the direct downloads. Still.... seems to be a moot point. Opt out (like the "autorun" thingy). Seriously, nothing is "secretly hiding"... -
It proves nothing. Try this one instead"DMA tab" disappeared chipset drivers integratedEight (MASSIVE) hits. Your google was WAY too generic. Now try THIS one - "DMA tab" disappeared "chipset drivers"Never heard of using "quotes" to narrow the search (SIX monstrous hits)? Hilariously, THIS may be what you "believe" to be true (your google) - http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/52162-32-advanced-turn Another of the exact same reference - http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=998414 ...and ANOTHER with the SAME mentioned! http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=1110076 Seems the "tab" was moved to be "controlled" by the IAA. Additionally, the BIOS apparently has to be set to ACPI -AND- you have to have the CORRECT "HAL" installed. (Is that what happen to YOU?) So you have no other "proof"? Just a "generic" google, correct? "I would never lie. I willfully participated in a campaign of misinformation." - Fox Mulder - X-Files Now, let's get back on topic...

Did you see an intervening post? If a 3-way conversation is "physically" taking place, person#1 speaks, person#2 speaks, and person#3 speaks, then person#1 speaks, who do you think they're speaking too (unless you're high)? Here ya go - (smartaxe...)P.S. <--Gold Star over there. Along with "purple" words. Go ahead and try to change yours.

Why would you say that. Do you have some PROOF of that? Besides the Topic linked to was about an "altered" source, not so?

Create a bootable CD/DVD from a set of floppies

OK, agreed... I am, however, a "free" member and it makes nada. 1 - In this case, yes 2 - In this case, yes 3 - In this case, yes 4 - Unless you want the crapware, change that to MUST 5 - In this case, NO (at least for now) - I had just done it and absolutely NOTHING "changed" except I got said File As far as being a "free member", you simply don't get a "downloader" and none of the "do you want to install/change/etc" stuff. The result is exactly the same in either case. Side note - I will proceed to upload the "downloader" to VirusTotal. Symantec (what I use) said (sic) "Nothing bad found". Here are the results - https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/c338021c42681a55788b140115b28fcd6ae47e7a63e39f52fd2115aeb33623d3/analysis/1363544895/ Be aware that REAL "Trojans" don't allow an opportunity to "opt-out"... P.S. - Kaspersky in this case found nothing. 3 out of the 4 Well, YES, so true! Opt-out "No Thanks" - case closed.Multibooter said this I vehemently refute that as I have clearly shown/proven. There is WAAAAY too many "freebies" out there that have this stuff in it. Anyone who clicks "Next" without PAYING ATTENTION deserves the stupid toolbars ( like my daughter used to ).Paranoid much? Well, YES, but I've used DriverGuide since 1998... In this case the paranoia is waaaay overblown! At any rate, Multibooter found an alternative/direct download. -

Create a bootable CD/DVD from a set of floppies
submix8c replied to Multibooter's topic in Windows 9x/ME
Yep, that's the one AND the method! Solve the "Captcha", get a SETUP_nnnn.EXE, run it, and it downloads said file. I do use Driverguide occasionally... "Download Now" button + "Use DriverGuide's Installer" ticked = "Captcha" = Downloaded "Installer" (that installs NOTHING without your explicit consent). Run it, UNTICK anything that has Tickmark Selections, DECLINE any "offers", and the file downloads - nothing is installed at all. Found it in - C:\Documents and Settings\<MyUserID>\My Documents\Downloads as filename "Mats***aUJDA310.ZIP"... (WHOOPS! "bad word" filter!!!) Not really sure of the Foldername for Win9x. You just have to know how to "work around" the crapware... edit - see my above edited post for link to SATA topic. -
(sigh...) I don't believe YOU read the entire thread! YOU in your haste to ""attack" did NOT realize that I was responding to the POST IMMEDIATELY ABOVE MY PREVIOUS ONE. You know, the one made by - MIKEP56!!!! YOU are the Original Poster - I was the FIRST to respond! I REALIZED you had "passed" the files to "DarkRats". What planet did you LAND here from??? I recommend this Topic be closed as it has links to links to WAREZ anyhow!!! That I GAVE!!! DUH!!! You guys are playing with FIRE publicly informing you're passing PROPRIETARY software! (P.S. See the Gold Star under my name? How did that get there?) If it IS closed, I will hope that my LINKS be removed! Maybe I'll do that now!.

Create a bootable CD/DVD from a set of floppies
submix8c replied to Multibooter's topic in Windows 9x/ME
Just (re-)noticed this thread (jaclaz' great posts about MKISOFS) and have to interject about DriverGuide - NOPE! The Downloader don't "secretly" do anything - you must be getting the "full-blown" one. The only thing I ever get is to have to solve a "word-game" to get a single file, which then downloads the single requested file to wherever I select. YES, you may OPTIONALLY be bugged (deselect it, right?), but I have NEVER gotten what you claim - repeat NEVER! Edit - and I've not yet tried this method for SATA-connected but I believe that "somewhere on MSFN" I specified "how-to" for them (DELL Dimension E521) with the specified file links. Here is the thread - -
Have you actually tried Google? (You should REALLY try it sometime, dude!) silent "sql server express" 2005I found this right away - http://blog.sqlauthority.com/2007/04/10/sql-server-2005-silent-installation-unattended-installation/ For the downloaded one, it's a SFXCAB.EXE-type, requiring additional setup parameters, so just "unpack" it with (e.g.) 7-zip and you'll see the files referenced. Download can be found here - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345154.aspx#sseover_topic12

Sure! It's called (for want of a better term) Cabinet Spanning. If you look in the documentation (heavy reading for sure) about the Cabinet SDK, you'll see that SOME files are only PARTIALLY with a CAB-1 and may have the SECOND part in CAB-2. In other words, there is ALSO a Precopy1.cab. When you "dumped" Precopy2, it only "dumped" the Full Files that are listed by Name within. For your purposes, DON'T BOTHER putting the file back into the CAB. Juts leave it in the Install folder. All of the Original Cabinets are created with a very specific version of Diamond.exe. As for the "spanning", did you notice that there exists xxxx1.cab, xxxx2.cab, xxxx3.cab, xxxx4.cab (where xxxxx is "whatever")? That's done via the "template" field and "limiting" the CABS to a specific maximum size (thus forcing the "spanning"). In fact, you'll "break" the Install because you have to know EXACTLY what order to insert the files in so that they go into the CORRECT CAB (see LAYOUT.INF, LAYOUT1.INF, etc). LoneCrusader can tell you a LOT about the ins/outs and purchased a special toolset just for doing what you want to do (but don't need to). edit - Actually, I'm unsure of why you'd even want to do that. You already have Win98SE, don't you? edit2 - and here's a reference to show what I'm talking about (same "problem") http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=de&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cc-community.net%2Fwie-womit-file-ms-cab-datei-t12865.html Post #32 -

(sigh....) HERE is the point - 1 - They are Beta (i.e. not RTM) 2 - They are (most of them) Patched 3 - They require a special Emulator DLL
-
I repeat - 1 - I expected as much since it was obvious 2 - I have no "Download Website" accounts 3 - Not going to CREATE one anywhere either - maybe someone else 4 - I don't want to "irk" the MSFN staff and get chastised or (worse) banned by attaching/emailing/messaging files 5 - REMOVE YOUR EMAIL ACCOUNT FROM POST #1 You should really read the MSFN Rules (see top of this page). Again, Sorry, but I'm not going to - CONTACT THE AUTHOR - I gave the link to the information already. Tell HIM your dilemma!
-
HOLEY KROWS!!! Sorry to bump this but SILLY ME went nutz trying to figure out why files/paths weren't being found! HERE is the reason - I had a "!" (exclamation point) as part of a Folder Name! DO NOT DO THIS since SET ENABLEDELAYEDEXPANSIONspecifically EXPECTS to use that as a Variable Delimiter, same case as CMD.EXE "/V:ON". Do NOT use that anywhere in any Pathname/Filename. (wasted time via experimentation...) HTH some poor idee-yut that does the same thing.
-
Same files as listed in the links given? Beta versions? Patched? NOT RTM?????
-
Nice! But bear in mind that the OP's OS is Windows 98. In addition, some certain CABS (depending on what reads it) uses MSZIP and I notice in the link that you don't have much control over the CAB creation.
-
The IE6 Update is in the Archives linked to from the LINK given above "Windows 2000 Download Archive" (Dropbox). Follow the yellow brick road.
-
Nice! The same thing I said above - the Download Link leads you to the Website that the OP can't access!
