Per the "link" - wow! It worked when I posted it.Maybe it's NOT the Paging that's the problem. MAYBE you have a PROGRAM/TASK/SERVICE running eating you "alive". In Task Manager, click the PROCESSES tab, click in the CPU column TWICE to see which PROGRAM is using the CPU. You may be misguided thinking it's all about the RAM/PAGING which gets USED by a running Program(s). -AND/OR- use the first two programs listed by CharlotteTheHarlot, which will give more detailed information. You could very well have a Trojan/Virus instead of a legitimate program that's in "runaway" mode. In addition, CCleaner and/or Spybot will list anything that's RUN/RUNONCE/Startup/(Services) listed in the Registry to give us a clue ("generated" program names may mean you have a "bug").

First, I've been following/reading this Topic since its inception. Second, the link I gave about "backups" was simply an FYI, and not an implication you are "stupid" (touchy, aren't you). Third, the "google" was also an FYI. Fourth, the topic in question is here. You COULD have "cloned" the Original to the second rather than a complete reinstall. Your choice... Fifth, there's this nifty tool called Grub4DOS that can "flip" a drive designation, be it on the same HDD or a different one. I can "flip" between Server, XP, and 98 SE with just a reboot. There's also something called "LiveXP" and willing to bet the same method can be used to make a 2K one since they're in the same "family". Voila! No problemo! Finally, I'd say that you've flung a couple of disparaging remarks yourself - see posts#14 (bragging)->#16(getting "touchy"). AAAAND before you make any remarks about "1983" better stop - been handling computers since WAAAY before that. "Why in MY time we had to use CARDS..." Summary - Want help? You got it. Want to argue when help is given? No-go. Simple as that. We've had MANY a "leap to conclusions and do the wrong thing and then complain" folks. How could we know otherwise with you? Does that clear it up? Addendum - This ain't our first rodeo with your types of scenarios. HTH... ( Oh, and WTH are you talking about "Archive Bits"? Where? Oh and those "drivers" you had a hard time finding - did you know there are free Driver Finder/Backup softwares? Guess not. )

Interesting read! http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/file-backup-terminology-what-do-terms-differential-incremental-mean-and-how-will-they-help-m Now for the "backup" - should have google'd harder differential file backup freewareNot that I care about using any, but there ya go. That is, if you stray back this way. BTW, you flubbed up when you "created" that second OS - there's a Topic on creating a GOOD "clone" that would have save you the initial problems you had. Jeez, I love it when someone verbally spars with you, jaclaz! Reminds me of back when we sparred!

I think that's proprietary info and is controlled by the OS. You COULD search for some old Intel Assembly PDF information files that MIGHT tell "how it works". A smattering of info (and links) here - http://www.help2go.com/forum/computer-help/95142-page-file.html You ARE aware that only those parts of Real Ram are being swapped in/out and will PROBABLY not be a FULL program in Memory unless it FIXES the Page there. So, it's kind of doubtful that any "utility" exists for that. Why would you want to do that anyway? Something suspicious being "executed" or "hiding" there?

Huh!!! A followup (based on -X- above). Yep, the OTHER file does nothing! Inside the INI file is this InstallRun = MakeDisk.exe Thank -X- for being so kind as to make it easy for you.
-
Ummm... NO! That attachment is NOT the file(s) - that's the (an) Installer. I'm not going to run that. You have two variations (apparently) - JMicron and nVidia. You provided an EXE from (apparently) the nVidia package. http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=P5N-E+SLI&p=1&os= It APPEARS like you have to (for the nVidia) have a blank Floppy Disk and run the "makedisk, exe" and point it to the Floppy Drive Letter. I just did and it "extracted" the files to it. All of them, including the "TXTSETUP.OEM". Hmmm... also did the same thing with that file attachment (also found inside the ZIP file from Asus link above). Gave the same result. Bottom line - you need a Floppy -OR- (the way I did it) a Virtual Floppy Driver and a Full Floppy Image that you Mount in the VFD, format it, then run the EXE (either one). Go here and download "W2K Pro - Disk1" (a zip file) and inside is an acceptable IMA to mount in VFD for the process. If you need assistance on how-to for the VFD (driver) in case you DON'T have a Real Floppy, post back. edit - forgot to mention - that's a rather OLD set of files. Newer ones MAY be available here on MSFN. edit#2 - WOOHOO!! An EXCELLENT way of getting Boot Disk Images from the link above for any of the OTHER Boot Files (the EXE ones). The EXE would "overwrite" the Mounted Image. DO NOT FORGET TO SAVE YOUR MOUNTED IMAGE after "extraction". edit#3 (dang it) - Only SP3 Slip is necessary - don't bother with the SP2 as it's unnecessary. HTH

[Data] AutoPartition=0 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" [Unattended] UnattendMode=ProvideDefault OemPreinstall=Yes OemSkipEula=No Repartition=No [GuiUnattended] OEMSkipRegional=0 [UserData] ProductID="ABCDE-FGHIJ-KLMNO-PQRST-UVWXY" [Identification] JoinWorkgroup=WORKGROUP [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=Yes Do NOT tell me this doesn't work! I have ALREADY TESTED IT! Please don't come back with any BS that says "don't work" because it will be just that - Bee-Ess! The ONLY way it will NOT work is if the KEY you provided is NOT VALID (also tested) in which case the Key Screen will be BLANK (see next statements)! The Key -WILL- display and you -MUST- click "Next". You -WILL- have (NEARLY) every single screen displayed. You will -NOT- have any option to select "Repair" on the first screen with an Unattended WINNT.SIF in the I386 directory (the location where it MUST be). See the Second Screen that will NOT appear unless you have a CD -WITHOUT- a WINNT.SIF. In addition, the EULA will be accepted during MiniSetup (the GUI) and -NOT- during Text Mode (Fourth Screen). The THIRD screen did -NOT- appear for me. Screenshots of a Non-Unattended Install - http://www.techish.net/2011/09/23/windows-2000-installation-screenshots/ SO... if you need to do a "Repair" (which is REALLY just the Command Console), having the WINNT.SIF file in it will NOT ALLOW IT. See -THIS- A nice reference (-X- posted also) - It APPEARS that the parameter "OemPreinstall=Yes" is REQUIRED for older os (like Windows 2000) because testing with it set to "No" did -NOT- work. Addendum - I was mistaken about REF.CHM - the actual Help Document with -ALL PARAMETERS- is "UNATTEND.DOC" within "DEPLOY.CAB". I would say "HTH" but I know for a FACT that it's correct, so I KNOW it "helps"! (razz-berries to you!) Have a nice day...

You might have a look-see here too - Basically, the same process even if you used WUD, which is, BTW, WAAAAAY outdated (STOP using it for XP - NO LONGER MAINTAINED!). The link (instructions) I gave is fail-safe. As far as the "other" software "Add-Ons" (that you don't specify), we STILL are CLUELESS as to whether they conflict. Start from "basic (per the link) and THEN try the add-ons. Fix/Add-On Dates (order of) matter. (IOW as an example, that's the reason SP3 comes BEFORE Post-SP3 Fixes AND you don't want to "force" integrate PRE-SP3 Fixes.) Failure Summary - - You used to use WPI along with a combo of "software" (unknown) and "fixes" (from WUD) - You now want to Integrate using Add-Ons (unknown if other-than MS) and "fixes" (still WUD and/or "created" Add-Ons?) - You use outdated MS Fixes (from WUD) - You more than likely Integrate with a "failing" method (see proper method in link) - You are working from the Desktop (bad juju - do it from a folder elsewhere)
-
@#$%^&*(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "UnattendMode" has MORE than just "ProvideDefault"!!!!! You have tried NONE of the others! Use nLite, select "Unattended" and select "Help" for that value and you will see EXACTLY how it will react for EACH VALUE! READ, man, READ!!!!!!!!!!!! (Jeez, dude, "REF.CHM" file!!!!)

NEED HELP: INSTALL WINDOWS XP FROM USB
submix8c replied to congnt92's topic in Install Windows from USB
Cdob is absolutely correct! And there's a REASON for that (read the links). You've been comparing FILE lists as opposed to a BINARY COMPARE of each file in the File List. There are ABSOLUTELY differences between "some" binary contents of some files. Sir Congnt92, better do a little reading of each and every link given before INSISTING on "help". Afterward, maybe there will be some forthcoming. -
Sorry, but we have no clue about 1 - Any Hotfixes etc you slipped 2 - What software you previously used in WPI 3 - How you created the AddOns Insufficient information... "Need Input" <-Johnny 5
-
??? Makes no sense... which is it? The other Topic doesn't mention an SSD. Are you saying that's the Setup that USED TO BOOT and now DOES NOT for some reason? Can you elaborate?
-
(sigh...) You still didn't read that LINK I gave. There are MANY different values for THIS!! Please read it or don't bother complaining... (in the "DEPLOY.CAB" REF.CHM)

[SOLVED] Office 2000 Professional SR-1, DRM?
submix8c replied to bpalone's topic in Microsoft Office
We don't have that kind of setup here. BWAHAHAH! You so funny!!! (Quick, Trip, set the flag!)@bpalone - YOU must change the TOPIC TITLE in the First Post! It's YOUR topic... e.g. SOLVED! Office 2000 Professional SR-1, DRM? -
[SOLVED] Office 2000 Professional SR-1, DRM?
submix8c replied to bpalone's topic in Microsoft Office
What does that mean? Did you have a point? Is EVERYTHING "interesting" to you? Checking.... How odd!!! Your country flag says "AU" and not "US"... You are starting to look like a spammer/spambot... -
Exact same info here - http://web.archive.org/web/20120626114833/http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article02-011 You say the error is in "EXPLORER.EXE" (Polish, apparently). What version does it show? Did you "modify" it?
-
I can find no x86 by that Version you give. One might wonder why you say the OP needs the x86 when his OS states x64. They CAN be found here http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=5.0.21.0BUT, the ones I checked all come up as "AMD64" (64-bit).

In addition, you did NOT read the SECOND link! It specifically tells you what options to use or not use for any given action. Example is the Skipping of the Eula Display. YOU DID NOT READ! And I have to ask as well... WHAT COMMAS? You mean THIS? ;That's a Semicolon and tells me you already HAVE a WINNT.SIF since the example -X- gave has NONE. You're not following instructions are you? BTW, if you have a REAL CD, there is a folder there named "SUPPORT\TOOLS" (just like XP has) and contains your DEPLOY.CAB which contains (of all things) SETUPMGR.EXE (the Official MS "generator") and a couple of Help Files (CHM and DOC) which is where much of the info is from. The answer given was correct for "just the key and nothing more" - your FIRST POST. Please do a little reading BEFORE you say "doesn't work".
-
??? Inside a "Package" there's usually a "whatever. INF" file. Go to Device Manager, right-click the Device, Properties, 'Update Driver", make it point to the Folder where you have the files and "Do It". Are these the files? http://www.mediafire.com/?0hyzoqdrdv4y2bhLooks like them to me.... Found via Google RAlink "5.0.21.0"First link led to the above link. There IS NO INSTALLER! You have to do that manually...

Changing device latancy and IRQ used?
submix8c replied to caps_buster's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Check the BIOS settings... "PnP OS Installed" or something maybe? -
Last post - http://www.911cd.net/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t4017.html Notice it references "REF.CHM"... ...and look here - http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/19/ HTH

Any hope of getting Windows 2000 running on my PC?
submix8c replied to Brahnix's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
JFYI - the Japanese Website... Go to http://translate.google.comand copy/paste the website address link into it and tell it "From Japanese" and "To English". Any links found to actual "software" should not be clicked on, instead do it from the ORIGINAL webpage. HTH (a little...) -
[SOLVED] Office 2000 Professional SR-1, DRM?
submix8c replied to bpalone's topic in Microsoft Office
Gee, wish I could help, but I have O2K-SR1 (Word only) installed on an XP and the "shortcuts" aren't of the "standard" type. "Target" is grayed out, but other fields (e.g. "Start In") are "open". As jaclaz said, NOT DRM-(software)Related, since you can USE them directly and tend to agree. Check your Registry for the string you'll find in "Target" in the shortcut. There should be several (one) for each in the "Classes". (suspecting Options #1/#3...) edit - Opening it in a Hex Editor "tosses" me to "WORDICON.EXE" inside of C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{00170409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}ALL of the "icon" files are there (even the ones I didn't "optionally" install). Something is amiss as that "foldername" is appearing in the Registry with a POINTER to the Filename (a value within "LocalServer32"). "ProgID" points to "Word.Document.8"... -
Gotcha! Guess the alternative(s) is to put it/them in the "runonce"-style Unattended-method or "SysPrep" it as another post indicated. Just to point out, you did NOT indicate that you weren't "altering" anything. It's all good now. Glad you figured it out. In case someone else needs this, per Member steven4554 (from your given link). by whatever method of Integration.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2603229 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2533552 Applies to both RTM and SP1 so two "update paths" (GDR and QFE) so may get "confused" ( ) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2506143 Kind of explains it, doesn't it?
