  1. Dead, end-of-line, nada, no more, zilch. It works as good as it gets. 2008 was the end of the road as far as AutoPatcher. Not much new except some odds-and-ends (see the USP98SE thread). I should knw because I participated in the development and have had no real desire (or time) to "improve" it. Sorry...
  2. +1 Any BAD stuff still in the registry and BAD stuff on the OS remains. JUST the WinXP Files and Registry from the Install Files. Done this multiple times. Just did it on a friend's computer LOOOO-ded with trojans/viruses (pr0n-dog). Still cleaning up the non-OS stuff as "we speak"..
  3. re - post #26... "Go to first unread post" is there at the top! I MAY be inadvertently blocking it though. Just I was used to "automagically" going there.

???<-I'm confused. We don't have an Emoticon with ? above a head or I would use it. I suppose I could have used but "huh" means something like "Huh?" or "Huh!" Not very expressive as "I'm confused". They ARE exclusive. 1 = Are you going to do a clean install and update aftwerwards?2 = Have you ALREADY done an install? (link then give to "apparently", but no mention of Updates except Drivers) (Option)3 = Slipstream the Updates and perform 1 instead of updating afterwards. Pretty clear and all in a row on separate lines. "IFTHEN ELSE" logic. OR I could have expressed it in (Mainframe) Assembly - (Issue MSG) (Receive Response into storage area Q) CLC Y,Q BE NEXTQ B DOIT Q DS C Y EQU C"Y" MSG DC C"I have a question - did you...?" NEXTQ DS 0H (whatever) DOIT DS 0H
  5. July 12, 2013 - *** REVISION (new File added to UDC and is WMP Version-Specific and NOT a CAB) NOTE! The Attachment has NOT been revised! Be aware! See Post #1. All the "Red" changes.
  6. Still have to get the "last post that I viewed in Topic and GoToNextPost" when opening the Topic. ATM, it goes to the First Post.
  7. xper, you crazy Dane! Just have to get used to the changes and wait for tweaks. Bug-shaking period. Always happens in Production environments post-Upgrade.
  8. See Post #14 above. Repeat posting by same person "scrunches" them without intervening header/footer since it's the same Member, thus reducing the number of pages. Edit - Huh! Nope, they're there! Maybe because the header/footer of posts has changed size? Errr. was this the one that had some posts split out to another Topic?

    XP Questions

Um, no... I asked 2 questions in reference to the Original Post. 1 process 2 process Then proceeded to refer to them as "options" by referenceing "2" linking to the possibility that it was was done (never knowing whether or not Updates were applied). Then proposed (using the word "option") 3 (where all the Updates are). If, in fact, NO updates were done then "3" would be viable, otherwise WINDOWS/MS Update or Manual Install (my notation). Sorry, but I don't see why it wasn't clear, but if you say so it must be
  10. Word of caution.... After selecting the Updates form -X- UDC, select ALL (Including the IE8 Add-on) but the IE8 Updates, sort by Ascending Date, THEN select the IE8 Updates. Rationale - 1 - nLite woks best when Updates are installed oldest-to-newest 2 - IE8 needs integrated BEFORE IE8 Updates (also in date order but may be unnecessary). Ref - Simply ignore the part about WMP11. The link I gave is "Integration For Dummies" step-by-step detail. You should understand what I just said though since you've already used it.
  11. Recently gave one (two?) up to recycle for $5USD each. And a 386.

    (garf!)1 = Option#1 2 = Option#2 * = Non-numbered, yet suggested Option#3 Logical conclusions.
  13. 512 Decimal = 200 Hexadecimal Where did you use that value? Please give sufficient info.

??? 1 - Doing a "clean" install and updating afterwards? 2 - Already done the Install? Not sure, but I think you have done Option#2 (based on topic). You COULD have done Option#3 and Integrated using -X- Updates/nLite (see his signature). Oh, well... edit - FWIW, I'm working on a "Post Clean Install" (Option#2 without Updates) Script that utilizes -X- Files from his script (his signature) to install all of his Updates afterwards (his doesn't include Java). NOT there yet.
  15. ^^^This. I did this with a Gateway factory OEM laptop & got a perfect Windows 7 install, activate by phone using Key from COA.DO NOT USE THE COA!!! There are "certain" files AND the INTERNAL key that allows for Pre-Activation and ALL of it is on the Factory Image (and maybe the USB Stick).WHY would you "waste" the COA key AND have to go to the trouble of Activation? IF something goes "wrong" AND you Activate then you LIMIT yourself to how many time MS will Activate without an "already used" message! Do what MagicAndre said AND "build" a Pre-Activated (MSFN has all of the info on that). (side note: build one with all of the Updates "integrated" and save the hassle of Updates download - extra work. See Windows Updates Downloader and other Topics. Browse around.) Your option. (Just sayin'...)
  16. Looks like only the ATI was supplied with your Model. Do the nVidia Drivers given in the link NOT work? If not, just get the latest nVidia drivers from the nVidia Website. No it's NOT in the BIOS, it's the Drivers for the nVidia Card (?). YES it will "kick in" and over-ride ANY built-in video (if it has any) and ONLY the "AGP Aperture Size" will be have any effect in the BIOS (if it exists). Inserting Add-In cards when built-in-video ALWAYS over-rides (AFAICR - may be "special cases"). Bottom line, you need the appropriate nVidia Drivers for your GeForce 6200 (available from nVidia website). Look here - http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us If you "search" at the top of the screen for geforce 6200it indicates Geforce 6-Series. Also not at the bottom that the "nView Desktop Management" software is available.
  17. FWIW (having used Mainframe SQL), it MAY involve Full Knowledge of the Structure and some "slick programming" to "recreate" the database1->FlatFiles->CrossCheckFlat->database2->test->database1 to "fully fix" the errors. A daunting task. As it is, the battle will be uphill by inspecting the log files(?) and manually correcting. It APPEARS that re-clicking a Topic after the failure succeeds (so far).
  18. Right there on the same page, left hand column, is every link - right clink and "Open in New". Change the Language to Dutch (NLD). You can change the UDC Script with the links on the "Thanks For Downloading" page because it gives the Direct Link. Right click on that link and replace the corresponding "WGET" lines with YOUR language. REMEMBER to "cancel" the download since you will be using/replacing the Direct Link in the UDC Script. Note the following (from my notes) === 1 - The following are Language Neutral WindowsUpdateAgent7.6.7600.256.cab rvkroots.January.2013.cab Adobe.Flash.Player.cab === 2 - The following is generated by the UDC Script (ENU) === or Onepiece's DX Universal UpdatePack/Addon Creator - GUI version === for ANY other Language. See Post #4 in this MSFN Topic: === www.msfn.org/board/topic/163398-nlite-ie8-hofix-integrated-error IE8-WindowsXP-x86-ENU.OnePiece.7z === 3 - The following Generated by the UDC Script (ENU) WindowsXP-KB905474-lng-x86.cab WindowsXP-KB975254-x86-lng.cab WindowsXP-WindowsMedia-KB952069-v2-x86-lng.cab WindowsXP-WindowsMedia-KB954155-x86-lng.cab WindowsXP-WindowsMedia-KB973540-x86-lng.cab WindowsXP-WindowsMedia-KB975558-x86-lng-fix.cab WindowsXP-WindowsMedia-KB978695-x86-lnU.cab WindowsXP-WindowsMedia-KB2378111-x86-lng.cab === 4 - All others are direct integration except Media Player 11 === refer to my "How To Integrate" Topic for details.Download ALL except the generated ones above in YOUR language. Side - note - it APPEARS that the WindowsMediaPlayer Updates can be replaced in the Script as well. HOWEVER the Add/Remove Description will be in English. Take a look inside one at the "ENTRIES_KBxxxxx.INI" (Language-specific stuff). PLEASE NOTE that following the Instructions in the "How To Integrate" Topic for WMP11 will eliminate this "problem". HTH edit - google this EXACTLY "WindowsXP-WindowsMedia-KB2378111-x86-NLD.exe"There are only a few "hits" one of which is an Excel Spreadsheet (XLS) that appears to list ALL languages and MAY include most of the fixes Direct Links (Up to October 2010). The remainder use the procedure I gave above. USE ONLY THE "NLD" ONES and ONLY THOSE IN THE UDC SCRIPT! edit2 - scratch the above - ONLY Oct. 2010. edit3 - MAY be useful - list the stuff I "scratched" above. Oldest is March 2010, newest is "current". Both XLS and XLSX Spreadsheets. BUT the problem is you have to sift through it. http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-9638/version/
  19. Nope... Posts #2, #5, and #6 are relevant. We usually keep Topics anyway "for the record". Glad you found someone.
  20. Talking about this "newish" Outlook? www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2407888,00.asp Accessed via "Live"... (just tried it). AUTOMATICALLY changed me over! (THAT sux!) WOOHOO! I have NO CLUE! There IS a FAQ, though... http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/forum/mail-email/frequently-asked-questions-for-outlookcom/806676a2-ec0b-4fb9-bdfe-fc23c5596738 Is THIS how you tried to do it? It's an Add-On of some kind - https://col0-sec.mail.live.com/mail/MailMigrationSelectAccount.aspx?mms=client I have NO DESIRE to transfer my stuff for a "test" since I have LOADS of GMAIL stuff in my OE6. Sorry, but you're kind of on your own (at least by me).
  21. Have you seen this? We have no clue if you did things "out of order". You CANNOT Integrate IE8 DIRECTLY! You need to create an Add-On. Also (right at the top) IMPORTANT!You are NOT required to use the "Windows Media Player 11" part. It can be skipped.
  22. Apparently you did. Try this. Google "outlook 2007" ebookGood luck!
  23. LAN is internal and speed will be whatever your LAN allows, both directions. Other Speedtests are for WAN connections to determine if any Tweaks can be done for Internet (WAN) connections based upon your speeds give for your ISP (WAN). They are two different things. SpeedTestDOTnet is for WAN and LAN has nothing to do with PC<->PC LAN connections. Having a Website on one and accessing it from another on LAN is "immediate" (LAN/NIC/Router) speed. Try this - 1 - Create a Website on PC-A - set it up with (e.g.) NO-IP (for dynamic IP updates) * - don't forget to Port Forward on your Router 2 - Access it on PC-B using "HTTP://n.n.n.n" (replace "n's with PC-A IP) 3 - Now go "elsewhere" and access the Name (given in e.g. No-IP) Amazing the difference in access time, isn't it? Clear?
  24. Hmmm... did test and changed Display to 1024x768. Still no "sidebar" using FF12. Links indicate collaboration NewFF<->FB. Try "Downgrading" FF and see what happens.
  25. "How does it work" - http://www.facebook.com/help/484698331587524 Also do search on "sidebar" in that link. Apparently, mine doesn't show because I use 800x600. This refers to removing the "chat" sidebar - https://www.facebook.com/RemoveNewChatSidebar Something specifically in reference to FireFox - http://mozilla.6506.n7.nabble.com/Facebook-for-Firefox-update-td45616.html You have a NEW version of Firefox? Apparently, FF "teamed" with FB to give some of this junk to you. Google this facebook sidebar remove firefoxThank you, Facebook (NOT)! Since mine doesn't "show", I have no clue.
