Outlook always creates a new .pst even if I connect to the old one
submix8c replied to bookie32's topic in Microsoft Office
If Outlook (have and don't used it because... using OE6) is anything like OE, then a "default" is always created. Why? "Outlook For First-Time User Dummies"? -
-
Could you describe the "no joy", which doesn't say much?
-
WLM=Windows Live Messenger. I assume you "saved" them. BTW, ".EML" is not unique and OE6 should be able to import them. "*.EML" has nothing to do (directly) with IE. http://www.softspire.com/how-to-locate-windows-live-mail-store-folder.html http://www.vistax64.com/live-mail/173915-import-eml-files-into-outlook-express-6-windows-live-mail.html You may be chasing the wrong rabbit. But good luck with your endeavors.

I asked for clarification OE6 isn't included in the IE7+ Packages. It *is*, however, included in the IE6 Full Package (MAILNEWS.CAB) *and* in XP.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Explorer_6 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outlook_Express According to the above (and confirmed) OE6 was the last OE to be issued. So if that's your intent then you're SOL anyway with IE7. "Recover some old messages and other stuff" isn't very infomative. What *exactly* are you trying to do/"recover" and how?
-
??? The only diifference is one is Beta, the other is RTW(RTM). *BOTH* are "updates" to the IE6 that is *included* in XP. No magic here and you should be able to double-click the EXE and voila, the "update.exe" runs, just like any other update/hotfix. IOW, there -is no- IESETUP and nothing mysterious about it. BTW, there was *never* a filename "IE7-B1-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe" - you were misled by whatever website you found that name on. The correct name is the name inside the RAR and is exactly the same as RTW(RTM). Again, nothing mysterious - remember that it was *only* available to MSDN subscribers for Beta Testing? http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/beta%20test And -no- there's no reason for anyone else to integrate this on a CD. nLite integrates IE8, whether it will integrate IE7 (particularly a Beta) I have no clue and don't care to try. You do it to yours and be happy with your obsolete/beta IE7 Update.

No, I didn't. I said Now that you've given an example of what you're "problem" is, it can be investigated. I can get to "Windows Update" (https) but can *not* get to that one (and had checked the box *and* added the website to "trusted") and get the same symptom you get. I *can* get to it through FF12. As to "rendering", you're getting a tad confused. This is *not* a "rendering" problem. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_page#Rendering Something about that site and an IE setting is preventing display. Why would you need to access the website anyway? The question is just out of curiosity?
-
Must have been glitch Web Archive (I tried it and came up "flat"). Well, good luck with that (CSS apparently had failures?).
-
(sigh...) Is the box at the bottom tick-marked or not? "Require yada-yada..." and there's a "?" in upper-rght you can click on then move to that line and clck again for Help explanation. Whether it has anything to do with *rendering* I don't know. I was simply giving reference to your "tangent". There are *two* SSL tick-boxes along with TSL, BTW. You're *initial* question was... what? Was it not answered? You *did* ask about "interfering" and *not* rendering. Please clarify *exactly* what your problem is. Post#4 (along with "tangent" Q) - http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/enable-third-party-browser-extensions-t951372.html They're called BHO's - Browser Helper Objects. Install Spybot then set Advance in it and look at what it displays, m-kay? Indeed, if you look in Tools->Manage AddOns, you'll clearly see what "type" of add-on it is in a column of the display. Now, if you're having a *rendering* problem, you're clearly asking the wrong questions.

Hmmm. haven't yet tried it - slipstreaming unaltered POSReady 2009 Update into XP via nLite. You're asserting that nLite ignores the requirements noted in the harkaz topic link? Just trying to get confirmation here without my doing it (if someone else already has).
-
Not quite that simple - take a look at the link to harkaz' topic. It "finds" them but some (?) get "blocked" because of the checks. They may install from MS (with "bit" set), but won't "integrate"/"install" -without- the "bit" set for it. IOW, to Integrate/Install - without- bit set, the Installers -must- be altered, hence the "not included" in UDC. It would require a bit of Script Magic (like e.g. MU/WU creation). JS...

VLC will install Codecs. WLE -may- have messed up some since it has the "Movie Maker" and -may- install those Codecs as well. I have Pro and the tower is currently unplugged, so... "Features" is different from non-MS listing (what you "found") http://windowsitpro.com/systems-management/q-how-do-i-add-and-remove-features-windows-7 and appears to only "turn on/off" (?) http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-add-or-remove-parts-of-windows-7.html
-
FWIW, NX also goes by (AFAICR) two other acronyms in various BIOS.
-
Doesn't some (many/all) of them need something modded to allow install in Normal XP? http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171814-posready-2009-updates-ported-to-windows-xp-sp3-enu/

Media Player 12 is included - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/windows-7-starter-top-questions -unless- it's "N" or "KN" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968211 So try uninstall/reinstall from the Features (if it's the non-KN/N version). Otherwise, who knows how you got it? As I said, something may have been "corrupted". You need all the supplied un-corrupted Codecs to play a variety of filetypes. Othersise... Also no DVD Playback - http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht004425
-
No. And don't even know what you mean by that.
-
Sorry, that's the best it gets. Not sure what you mean by "old messages".
-
And why don't you just install SP3 and all Fixes up until EOL? Any reason not to? Seriously, it's bizarre to ask for a Beta of an insecure browser, in addiion to having an insecure OS. FWIW, you can get Beta2 here. Still, these require WGA. The IE7 RTM and IE8 RTM do not but require SP2 at minimum. http://filehippo.com/download_internet_explorer_xp/history edit - Also, it was only available to MSDN subscribers but "leaked". All links are dead to leaked "Internet Explorer 7.0 Beta 1 Build 5112.0" (the one you want).
-
You can't. You can find (many/most/all) the fixes here though HTH
-
FWIW, sounded more like something corrupt in your Media Player. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/download-windows-essentials No Media Player in WLE for Windows 7. Also noting that Vista has been "dropped" and (as usual) XP is completely ignored. The same is true for many other XP "Updates" (e.g. go try to find IE8 now.)
-
No, there is not. BTW, IE8 will directly integrate with newest nLite. Here's your Greek IE8 link http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/D/E/7DE51A86-DB86-4F38-8D9E-FF3A37EA6FFF/IE8-WindowsXP-x86-ELL.exeNow, if you'd have paid attention in this thread and given what was asked for, you would have gotten much further along, no? Start the back-and-forth here - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/156533-experiment-of-how-nlite-slipstreams-updates/#entry1087495 Integrating IE8/WMP11 (only WMP11 now requires this) http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/162279-how-to-integrate-basic-updatesie8wmp11/ See "Change Log" at "August 31, 2013" http://xdot.tk/ No, there is -no- list of links to Greek Hotfixes. Use the list given in above link and change the Language at the appropriate place in the Microsoft Download Pages. The script at the above website downloads -FROM MS DIRECTLY- for English Only (DO NOT USE IT). For Greek, you're on your own getting them based on the list and links given. HTH and good luck. (Notice - MSFN is an English forum. Other language assistance given is a courtesy.) Edit - FWIW, this topic also has all IE8 (-and- IE7) download links for all languages - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/172103-microsoft-at-it-again-playing-with-ie8-download-for-xp/ (courtesy tomasz86) Also many/most/all(?) other fixes are here (also tomasz86) Match KB# in -X- website to KB# in above to your language. That's the best it gets. Sorry.

Your "tangent" - Internet Options->Security->Trusted Sites->Sites See the check-mark at the bottom?
-
(sigh...) You're doing it again. This does -not- tell me what you've done in reference to the Add-On's. What part of I WANT THE INI FILE is failing to get across to you? That Error Log tells me -nothing-. You -yourself- said you did -more- Add-Ons! MOVING TARGET. Does the Install work -without- doing -anything- to the Source Install, in other words Directly From The Unaltered CD? I'll (and nobody else) will help if you do -NOT- provide what's requested. PERIOD! Right here at the top - http://www.msfn.org/board/forum/89-nlite/ This applies to -ANY- run of nLite -regardless- of whether you remove or not -in all cases- that file is -required- to better assist. Sorry, that's just the way it is. Further, here's another topic having YOUR ERRORS! In other words, you may -NOT- be using a completely Unaltered XP Install -or- one of the -UNNAMED- Add-Ons is FAILING because it's NO GOOD! http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/139191-some-os-error/

FWIW, you might -carefully- check the RAM contacts on the MoBo. I've used an -extremely- fine grit piece of sandpaper (folded) and run it through the slot to clear off the contacts then blown the residue out. It did help. Remember, -carefully- since they're -spring-loaded- so make sure they fully contact/"spring". Just a suggestion.
-
Apparently, you've been misled. There is no option where you indicate. They're in Internet Explorer "Tools->Manage Add-Ons" http://forums.techguy.org/web-email/925606-pc-getting-hanged-opening-ie.html You can enable/disable Add-Ons (plug-in's) there. I have several "useless" ones disabled. It's up to you to decide/test.
