  1. Haven't been on for a few days, so late reply. Right-click and Run As Administrator?
  2. Nope, sorry, I don't. And yes, I know "Groove" is a pay service. That's why I said "need I say more" because it's about MS' OS+WMP+$$$. That was the whole point of indicating using (if possible/found) direct links to a given music file that can be "streamed". You did read the links saying as much, didn't you? The given websites will have a server streaming the file directly into WMP. MS tossed the MediaGuide (free) and instituted Groove ($$$). Did you note that Groove is also available for non-Windows OS Media Players as well? Again, it was about the $. Good luck in your search for an alternative "free" media guide. If you find one, let us know.
  3. Which Flash version? I assume the latest? Did you get the Full Installers from here? https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
  4. re - MS Update Catalog - indeed good news. FireFox uses it's own DL manager instead of the stinky MS one.
  5. GUI Front-End v7.0 plus QEMU v0.11.1 (older, apparently from 2010) - http://web.archive.org/web/20110513140959/http://www.davereyn.co.uk/ Also, unless you really want to Upgrade (to keep DOS/Win3.x), you're aware you can force your version (RTM) to act like a Full (to Clean Install) via an MSBATCH.INF, right? I guess I could dig around to see if I have an old Cirrus driver that may work for you. Please note that I *do* have QEMU (0.9->0.11) but have never used it because I generally use MS-VPC/Windows-VPC. I'm also unaware if the above Manager will work with later versions of QEMU.
  6. Windows 10 - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/groove Need I say more? As a matter of fact, this link has a link to old site which redirects to Groove. http://www.tenforums.com/software-apps/44143-windows-media-player-media-guide-not-present.html Unless it can be hacked to another "Media Guide" somehow you'll have to "work around" directly linking (I assume) a given song from a given website's streamed selections. https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/3882c42d-47be-42e8-8957-46405764c80c/internet-radio-on-windows-media-player-12?forum=w7itpromedia
  7. Well! I was *assuming* that Win-X Free was over, but apparently only for Auto-Update and for any/all (Retail/OEM). This says you can still get it if have a legit Retail key. http://www.express.co.uk/life-style/science-technology/696537/Get-Windows-10-Upgrade-Free-Download-After-July-29 Not that I *really* wanted it, but... More info (re out of luck, with previously posted screenshot) - http://www.zdnet.com/article/what-happens-free-windows-10-upgrades-after-july-29-2016/ According to that, there's still 56% of PC's running Win7 (until January 2020 at least), so... And whatever "Assistive Technologies" is... http://bgr.com/2016/08/02/windows-10-free-upgrade-late/
  8. @2635599 ARGHHH MY EYES!!!! I'd appreciate it, too. (P.S. the link to your MemberID at the left is automatic).
  9. ? Was there any *other* specs listed from Everest (the SUBSYSTEM-ID part defines EXACTLY what it is)? There are several variations of EMU10K1 (etc etc). I found this - http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=43433&p=422042 that references CT4830/CT4832. There's one set "EMU10K1.INF (uses VXD's not, WDM) I have and the mentioned in link one uses a different one WSII10K1.INF (uses WDM) that I also have. Hang loose - still digging. But seriously, the FULL Ven/Dev info would have made it easier *and* any OTHER markings other than just what you gave. *** I'll note that the on linked to in the above link is NEWER and does NOT apply, so don't bother downloading (as I already did). OK!!! I found what MAY be yours. There's even a file inside called "CTCQ10K1.INF" with the following inside of it (note that I'm assuming that the CQ part stands for "Compaq"). ; Description ; This inf file contains the following device for installation ; a. CT4830 - SBLive! Value (PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0002&SUBSYS_80261102) ; Date : 7 Oct '99 ; Revision : 1.05.000 Note the SUBSYS value. Go back into Everest and see if it matches. If so, then that's the one you want. Be aware that the download is 30.2mb and is from DriverGuide. A "downloader" will be given - go ahead and download it and RUN IT, and DECLINE any extra "junk" it asks you if you want (DUH, nope, just the Driver, Dude!). It's a self-extracting WinZip and you'll find it in your UserProfile's "Download" folder (or maybe the ROOT, e.g. C-Driver Download folder). http://www.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=119014 If that's the one, we're done. If not, back to the drawing board.
  10. 5. Too old. There's a newer one to get to the new MS WSUS Servers (they change over a while back). http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?/topic/9907-official-windows-update-agent-767600320/ 6. "The error code 0x80072EFF means ERROR_INTERNET_CONNECTION_RESET." The Server is busy. 7. AFTER reboot? By AU??? (see #6). 8. Um-kay... 9. -EDIT- That will screw you up! POS trick is ONLY for Standard XP Pro. MCE is a SPECIALIZED edition for "specific" hardware. MCE2005 should already be at SP2. BTW, MCE2005 is just an "update" to MCE2004. -EDIT- MCE2005 is "Symphony" and stands alone (above MCE2004) and the UR2 pulls you to MCE2005 "Emerald". Theoretically, SP3 should have been offered next. BTW, MCE2005 should have automatically installed dotNet (AFAIK), so why would you install it from the folder? -EDIT2 (all of the following)- It appears that "Symphony" automatically installs dotNetv1.0.3 (v1.0 SP3) - that's what's in the "CMPNENTS\NETFX\I386\NETFX.CAB" (basically, v1.0 with the KB867461 "merged"). So, you installed dotNETv1.1 (and the NDPSP.EXE, which was v1.1-SP1), which WAS correct. Now, the UR2 would be Emerald and SHOULD have been a little bit less than 30mb. The procedure you used was confirmed against my Dell MCE2005+UR2 DVD (it has extra "goodies" in the OEM folder). Anyhow, SP3 should have been the very next thing, aside from any dotNet updates. Currently do *not* have MCE2005 (Dell-branded) installed, so I'm afraid I won't be able to make heads/tails of your "problem". Directly download IE8 and install it as well. WU doesn't like IE6 much anymore. -EDIT- And install that LATEST WUA as well.
  11. @Kippykip - yes. AFAIK, there's 3 pertaining to 98SE, of which this is one of two "Service Packs". The other is called USP98SESP3 (Unofficial Windows 98 SE Service Pack v3). A third is called "Autopatcher 98 SE" and installs the individual Official/Unofficial fixes instead. Second one - http://www.htasoft.com/u98sesp/ I'd have to dig for a link to the last AutoPatcher. Here - http://www.mdgx.com/web.htm#AP98
  12. If you'd have gotten the Ven/Dev for it, we could have pointed you at it. AFAIK, I have all the "Live" drivers and may be able to pount you to where you can get them. Run from MS-DOS Prompt -or- from "Run" in Start Menu "REGEDIT.EXE". Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\PCI and you'll see the VEN/DEV and under that will be BUS/DEV with descriptions (etc).. VEN is the Vendor and DEV is the Device. Look for "PCI Multimedia card" and the corresponding VEN/DEV will (should) be the value above it. According to this, the VEN value should be 1102 (e.g. VEN_1102&DEV_nnnn). Confirmed (looked in a Creative INF) so we just need the DEV part. http://pcidatabase.com/vendors.php?sort=id HTH
  13. Um... you might want to pop that in there. That's the Drivers for the PC, They aren't integrated into the Reinstall CD. If that board has SATA (instead of PATA/IDE) drives, chances are that those drivers are integrated. But not any of the others. And yes, that "PCI" one is part of the Modem (Conexant - see link below). Edit - Hmmm, seems that the NIC is a Broadcom - it's not going to be on the OS Reinstall, but should be on the Driver CD. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/optiplex-gx280/drivers Look at the above and note the hardware you have (or variations). Also not there's several variations of the ATI Video, and AFAICR, the original Built-In connector is still right there (under the COM port, to the right of the PRT port). The ATI is an add-in that automagically overrides the Built-In Intel one (see drivers link above).
  14. Methinks you don't have "matching sets". OEM's will "strip" and/or modify the WIMs, leaving only the Edition they installed. The only difference between Retail and OEM is the EI.CFG, otherwise they're exactly the same. Enterprise is Volume License and the EI.CFG is also different. Be aware that x86 and x64 are definitely different between each other. Wiki gives a (kind of) pretty good basic explanation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7_editions Also here. Note the "electronic" also. http://winsupersite.com/windows-7/windows-7-product-editions-comparison My OEM Install DVD is binary exactly the same as the Retail except for that single file. As jaclaz said, if you want to see what's going on, open them up. Better yet, the EI.CFG will tell you what it's set up for. Indeed, see if there's an XML inside the INSTALL.WIM. If not, there's probably only one edition for that DVD's architecture (x86/x64). HTH
  15. FWIW, AFAICR, there are two variations of the driver. Maybe the wrong one? "I installed drivers by myself. If i remember right then i need 2 drivers to get it working. (Renesas Electronics drivers)"
  16. I assume you checked "Remember my credentials"?
  17. Should be included in Vista. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/339-xps-viewer.html
  18. XP x64 is a subset of Server2k3 x64, the same as the 32-bit variation, so no, you're understanding is backwards. This is the case for all Server products - always "more", not "less". As for a "slim version image" somewhere, no, and even if there were we aren't allowed to link to it. Start from unaltered and nLite/slim it as you wish. Here's a link to a big list of post-sp2 fixes, disregarding "removal" of components (in which you're on your own) -
  19. Riptides were commonly used in HP OEM machines. You may or may not have a good driver for it, noting that several variations of Riptide existed. (Note - I have one or two of them myself.) They're not really that good. And that buzzing/crackling sound like it may be kaput, i.e. the outputs are bad and/or simply extremely dirty (riptides are old).
  20. As do I. As well as NoScript. Clean as a whistle for me. Although I'm really confused as to why (even without the two addon/plugins) it would mangle your display.
  21. JFYI, the VHD has MS-specific OEMBIOS.xxx (and MS-key), the same as any other OEM and if the pseudo-BIOS doesn't contain the correct character string, you'll have to "mod" the BIOS. AFAICT, both VirtualBox and VMWare allow for that (somehow), basically "inserting" it in. I've read about this before. You'll have to "activate" it within 30 days (AFAIK). You can run XP-Mode in MS-VirtualPC also but the same applies. Windows7 has the "built-in" (the Pro/Ultimate?) but there's also the Windows VirtualPC that has that "built-in" to it as well (AFAICR) and I believe I tried it in my Win7 machine. JFYI, I believe there's a "trick" to allow it to install on "other-than Win7" (e.g. Vista/Win8). Also about that. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3702
  22. Not yet trying SP4, fully-up-to-date, no POSReady updates, FFv46, and here's the link. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/06/160614114410.htm Looks like the "header" part is somehow misplaced (that block of code).
  23. No. It only downloads Updates. There's two parts - 1- The WUD Program 2- The UL that it uses as a list The idea with it is to "integrate" or manually install. BTW, the UL is out-dated (obsolete). Go to the last page of this topic and get the link to the latest. Remember, THE LAST PAGE!!!
  24. Still alive and well, Still alive and well,

YEESH! Made it work. Had two guys (roadies/assistants) help me. Dunno what I'll get paid. Thank God for Pixie Dust, since the PA owner (dude who set the job up) *never* gives correct info. Good band, though. cincyrockersDOTcom/music to see what they sound like. Our mix wasn't too far off, except live.
