  1. So what if I need to set up 2 wireless networks? I have a WPA2-PSK network at home and my university has a standard WEP network on campus. Any way I can add both with any of these?
  2. Well, you could always try consulting the MSFN unattended guide... http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/8/
  3. The affected JVM versions are 1.3 and 1.4 according to the KB article. 5.0 (aka 1.5) is said to be unaffected. Besides, the issue mentioned is completely different from the one BoardBabe has brought up.
  4. It doesn't matter. Though I might suggest that since you're an English XP user that you just use my Update Pack instead
  5. Yes, svcpack.inf is always processed (if it weren't, you wouldn't have those logs in the first place...). How many hotfixes are you trying to install? The fact that it's erroring out on the CAT file makes me curious. Windows Update merely checks file versions when it determines whether or not a hotfix is installed. QFECheck uses registry entries created by the hotfix to determine whether or not it's properly installed. Since you're using /integrate, the file is being changed in i386, which makes Windows Update happy. However, the EXE is failing, meaning the registry entries aren't created. Hence why QFECheck errors out. (BTW, this was one of the reasons I created my update pack in the first place - if you're doing an English install, might I suggest you look into using it?)
  6. I'm pretty certain that installing from svcpack.inf is plain impossible.
  7. Check the KBxxxxxx.log files in your Windows directory to make sure things aren't erroring out for some reason or another.
  8. Nice answer to the question, SmartAssEdit: Added SmartAss I aim to please EDIT: But if you feel like guiding him through the entire process, be my guest.
  9. , making a WMP10 is way too complicated to show somebody who's never made one before. Learn to crawl before you learn to walk, Hayat.
  10. Assuming you're extending your desktop onto the second screen (and not mirroring it), wouldn't you expect the screensaver to treat both screens as one big one and therefore it would be behave exactly as you showed?
  11. Forgive me for not fully understanding nLite's logging, but does the sheer presence of the usbpoll entry indicate that you've changed the polling rate? I ask because 125 is the default so it wouldn't make sense if that were the case. However, if you did in fact change the polling rate, that would cause USB drivers to become unsigned which would probably explain why the hardware won't automatically install.
  12. In my expert opinion, your install CD is horked . Start over fresh and do one thing at a time and test. Also, try using the Integrator to integrate the update pack and any addons instead of nLite. Make sure it works OK, then use nLite. VMWare Player is free, so there's no reason to not be testing things in a virtual machine step by step.
  13. Sounds like a case of missing ident files to me. Do you have Win51IP.SP2 on the root of your CD?
  14. You can absolutely have it partition things automatically. As you were already linked to, you can set AutoPartition to 1 in winnt.sif. Combine that with the Repartition setting and FileSystem setting, and you can automate the entire process. You can also use the OemSkipEula setting to skip pressing f8 to accept the license agreement. Seriously, what of that doesn't accomplish what you're looking to accomplish?
  15. There's always ways to get around limitations in the XP install scheme. For example, you can always just add files to txtsetup.sif to be copied during textmode setup rather than using $OEM$ folders. You can also make use of svcpack.inf, which gets executed regardless of whether or not setup is unattended. And you can edit the registry hives with runonce entries which would then be exectuted during windows setup. Or you can create an INF to be executed when sysoc.inf is called during setup to do a lot of work for you. I use a combination of a little of all of those little tidbits to accomplish a lot of fun stuff without requiring an unattended CD
  16. I'm not exactly sure what it is you're asking for if the MSFN guide's timeline isn't good enough, but I'll attempt to clarify. If you're not sure what's meant by T-9, T-13, etc, it's referring to when Windows setup says it has X minutes left (so that would be T-13 refers to when the little status bar in the bottom left says 13 minutes remaining). It's particularly useful to know when various tasks are performed during Windows setup so you can properly time various things you may have to do (for example, if you need to import a specific registry tweak for a program, you want to make sure the program is installed first). Is that what you were looking for or was it something more specific? I've got a pretty good idea of when most events happen during XP setup through a lot of screwing around, so I can probably answer more specific questions if you've got them.
  17. I don't know how I missed this thread when it was first posted, but that's one heck of a great idea! I miss Aaron
  18. It's basically the fallout from two competing standards which got caught in the middle of a p***ing match between rival groups. Pretty much any modern DVD burner and DVD player should support both formats without issue. Older ones may only support one or the other, however. In that case, you'll want to check the documentation that came with the unit to see what it supports. (And just for kicks, we get to repeat the entire process all over again with HDDVD vs. BluRay - goodie!)
  19. mwahahahaha http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1936
  20. Thank you, thank you very much. I'll be here all week. Try the chicken http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1936
  21. Nah, it probably falls under fair use since it's just a clip
  22. When you say "when the text mode is complete", are you referring to the file copy stage? Because it seems what you're really saying is after the initial drivers are loaded and it gets to the partitioning & formatting screen that the drives aren't found. Again, more information is extremely helpful
  23. If someone wants to send it to me, I'm willing to mirror it for awhile. PM me a link.
