  1. @mazin (or anyone who knows) I've been using WinINSTALL and followed your directions to a tee for Adobe Acrobat. I've kept the acropro.msi and the data1.cab and am trying to install it from a shared network drive. \\%networkshare%\acropro.msi /QR but this merely opens the location of both files on the network. It doesn't actually install acrobat silently. Is there a work-around - I am fairly new to this so it could be something fairly simple, but any help would be great. I originally started this silent install by using the InstallShieldTuner which turned out to be a nightmare. Thanks in advance. Updated: When I type in the msiexec.exe /I \\%networkshare%\acropro.mst /QR it starts the installation and then I get this error: "This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."
  2. I am having this issue as well. I cannot join the domain - due to error during setup. "Setup was unable to change the password for user account Administrator. Please enter desired password again." Not sure why it is trying to change the password. And after pressing enter it doesn't allow me to enter the "desired password." I tried Dahi's solution of keeping the local and domain admin passwords the same. It doesn't work. Can someone take a look at my SIF file let me know if you have any solutions. Thanks much. 3. Hello again... I am getting an error at T-33: "Setup was unable to change the password for user account administrator. Please enter the desired password again." Now in my .SIF file I am only adding the applicable parts to save space - if someone needs more information let me know. I don't want to change the password, I just want to log onto the domain as administrator. Should I change the Full Name? Is it interfering somehow? [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword="insert password here" EncryptedAdminPassword=yes AutoLogon=Yes AutoLogonCount=1 OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=35 OemSkipWelcome=1 [userData] ProductKey=*****-*****-***** FullName="Network Operations" OrgName="GDC" ComputerName=* [identification] JoinDomain=GDC.INT Thanks in advance !
  4. Well what I did was use Nlite for tedious things such as integration, for SP2 and all post-SP2 hotfixes. From there I used setupmgr.exe to create the .SIF file and added drivers this way. Then I jumped back to Nlite to create the ISO and burn. Works like a charm. I, however, do not.
  5. I didn't mean the Windows SP2 setup screen. I am talking about the screen immediately after you hit a key to boot from the CD. That blue Windows Setup screen, where you create/delete the partition, etc. I didn't see anything on the page you linked referencing that. Let me know if I am blind. Thanks for quick reply.
  6. Finished creating Unattended CD - is there a way to bypass the windows setup screen, after all it isn't really fully unattended when a user has to delete/create the partition and set to NTFS. Is there something in the .SIF file I am missing that will automate this section of installation. Thanks.
  7. LOL - yes. I am still learning much about Unattended installs but I do have the correct drivers. Like I said they do go to the appropriate folder on the local drive after the CD finished installing, they just do not install. ** Maybe it's because I did not make a direct path to driver and just pointed to the folder instead? ** ** I have a big hunch that is what it is. I will burn and try it again. I figured it was something dumb ** So instead of OemPnPDriversPath="Drivers\000_Chipset;Drivers\001_Network;Drivers\002_graphics;Drivers\003_Sound" it should be OemPnPDriversPath="Drivers\000_Chipset\xp;Drivers\001_Network\WinXP;Drivers\002_graphics\Win2000;Drivers\003_Sound\SMAXWDM\W2K_XP"
  8. Hey all, I created an unattended CD pacthwork-like by using Nlite for SP2 and hotfix integration. To install drivers however I followed the unattended.org .SIF method. Here are my files: In my $OEM$\$1\Drivers: I have 000_chipset, 001_network, 002_graphics, 003_sound. **Problem? I didn't put setdevicepath and watchdriversigningpolicy in this folder as it says to do when installing drivers via CD because I did the .SIF way.** Let it be noted that the drivers ARE on the local machine after I use the CD I created they are just not being installed. My .SIF file: ;SetupMgrTag [Data] AutoPartition=1 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" AutomaticUpdates=yes [unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=Yes UnattendSwitch="yes" DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore AutoActivate = Yes TargetPath=\WINDOWS OemPnPDriversPath="Drivers\000_Chipset;Drivers\001_Network;Drivers\002_graphics;Drivers\003_Sound" DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword=* EncryptedAdminPassword=NO AutoLogon=Yes AutoLogonCount=1 OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=35 OemSkipWelcome=1 [userData] ProductKey= * FullName="GDC" OrgName="GDC, LLC." Thank you.
  9. Ok still same problem with Intel PRO 100 VM. However, I have discovered that the .SIF file in I386 is not used - only the one in I386\templates folder is applied. I also noticed that only the drivers in the I386 folder are applied to the client computer - NOT the drivers that I placed in the I386\$oem$\$1\nic folder. Little confusing even though I write the OEMPnP Drivers path in the template .SIF file. I am very much new to RIS deployment so its a learning process for me. So please excuse my ineptitude. Thanks for any advice\help.
  10. Hey all - I am running RIS on a 2000 Windows Server and am deploying Windows XP. Recieved the above-mentioned error after attempting several times with several variations to drop Intel Pro 100 VM drivers on RIS server. I have been working on this for a week and am making snail-like progress. This e100bnt.sys file error is not really recorded anywhere - at least I haven't found it. I basically make it to the screen where it starts installing the setup files and then shortly after it abruptly stops with the Error: File e100bnt.sys caused an unexpected error.. in D:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\setup.c Please help. On another note I have another question below: Now I have noticed that there are two ristndrd files - one in templates folder and the other in the i386 folder. Are both these necessary? It's getting annoying to constantly edit both. One last thing in the ristndrd file or .sif file when describing a path - such as: OEMPnPDriversPath = drivers\broadcom are quotation marks around the folders and sub-folders needed? such that it would be : OEMPnPDriversPath = "drivers\broadcom"
