  1. hang on...is this just an optional purchase? or are all EU versions of W7 going to have it "removed"? SO if I buy the bog standard Win 7 Ultimate..i WILL have IE as normal? But if i buy Win 7 E then it will be "removed"?
  2. "Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer" Another simple level of protection, so I like it.
  3. I certainly will be. Been testing it on my laptop, work PC and home PC, and havent had ANY of the problems I had with Vista, and its so much quicker etc etc, people should learn by how good W7 is to how pathetic vista REALLY is!
  4. I do love XP - have formed a long lasting relationship..., BUT Windows 7 could be that new build to take me places I've never been before....lol
  5. You could try the Vista boot manager: http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1 which basically lets you edit the boot up option, as Vista and Windows 7 doesn't use boot.ini, this programs lets you edit it, and that MAY help you out. I assume the Hard Drive still exists and shows up as a drive in the Bios, as well as showing in Windows 7? If the drive itself has exactly vanished from the bios, then would be either a hardware or bios configuration.
  6. Yeh, read a similar article the other day, sommit like it will be released to manufactures in August, then ready for October/Christmas release. Similar to that of how XP got released.
  7. Need more than the results. Show me the system specs. Windows 7 has higher requirements, esp. for ram. So, yeah maybe with 512-1024gb ram, it might be faster in XP than Win 7. Tried it yourself? Who cares what others install times are. You should try it yourself on your own system and see the difference. On my system, no noticeable difference. Personally I think the article is pointless... did he sit there with a stop watch and time how long each application took? I'd prefer benchmarks, but nothing beats; as you said spacesurfer, testing it yourself. Real world testing on your own system and configuration is the best way to make a comparison for yourself.
  8. SO FAR i am VERY happy with Windows 7, NOTHING like vista in style of performance, and anyone who can't see that is blind! I will definatey be pursing Windows 7 for my next OS.
  9. Man...way to many to remember! My username is always the same unless its stolen by someone else...ggrrr Yet there are only a handful I vists regulary.
  10. Some at work with 7100... Ultra VNC 105 Unlocker 1.8.7 DJC Thumbnail Viewer (VNC viewer) Rainlender 2.5 Terminals 1.7e BORGChat 1.0.0 Macromedia Studio MX (but goes to Windows 7 Basic theme due to compatibility, but works) DeepBurn 1.9 KMnet Viewer 5
  11. thats easy...its just easier for people to say, and the fact that any good technician will know that saying VGA means SVGA in technical terms - as you said, VGA hasnt been used for years. Its an "inherital" term, well, has been everywhere I;ve worked, peopel dont tend to kick up a fuss about a terminology. Like saying, "yeh, the VGA socket" "pass me that VGA cable" - yes, we know its a SVGA socket or cable etc. you dont need to be all "technically correct" by saying, "yes, its that SVGA socket" its almost like people being "politically correct" lol Anyways, side not over

  19. Hey guys! Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction here. At work we have a load of laptops that we book out to students for classes. At the moment we just get them to write there name name with the coresponding laptop they have taken. This is a very old fashioned way of doing it. So what we want to implement is a solution similar to that of say a Libary booking system, so studnets have a laptop loan card, and then when they come for a laptop they scan there card in, scan the laptop in and then we can see who has what laptop and where etc, obviously reducing paper as well! If anyone knows of any software that can do this, please point us int he right direction! We keep looking, with no luck yet, maybe someone uses a similar system else where? Cheers guys!
