  1. did the format last night. deleted the raid, low level format on both drives, then rebuilt raid using 128k chunk cluster thingys instead of 64, and has made a big speed increase! anyway, time will tell now...lol
  2. already ran similar cpu and mem tests, defo aint cpu or ram, not nivdia drivers, using 8800GTS card with latest drivers, and has been doing it for x2 driver version updates. Got my updated XP CD ready, so going to flatten it this week and re-build raid etc...see what happens...sigh
  3. yeh, both came back fine. just need time to do what you suggested, re-doing the raid etc.
  4. bah, didnt make a difference, lol I've reverted back to my CD version of my SATA Raid drivers, possibility/..
  5. ok, different approach... didnt tihnk of this b4, so giving it a shot, i flashed my bios to a beta bios ages ago, and have just read of problems with it, so ive flashed it back to the last stable release...see wat happens
  6. Ok..this was fine up until today...i had no problems since my last post until tonight. watching a film, bam, bsod, no file or message, just bsod. rebooted, finsihed film, loaded up COD4, got in game, 20 secs, bam, gone again, this time kmixer.sys rebooted, then rebooted again to be on safe side. loaded COD4 again...same, bam, bsod, this time with BAD_POOL_CALLER How random can u get? goign to run memtest again, but that never picked sommit up before, so doubt it will this time. onyl other option will be to delete my raid, rebuild it, and re-install?
  7. haha! heard it b4, but still great
  8. Just finished a new design change Maleko.co.uk hope u like.
  9. non, but see many people with 2+ bars....tell them to remove them, but they never do
  10. May I disagree? I paid for a 1-year licence 12USD + VAT And about BitDefender... Did you notice its memory footprint? Bigfoot is a kiddie in comparison WOW, i thought it was £30 over here, il have to check again cos i really love it. But bitdefender? i mentioned Avira antivirus which is seriously a great product, is Avira part of bitdefender or something? or have i got the wrong end of the stick? Yeh, NOD32 is rather cheap. Cost me £27 for the inital buy (last year), then just £15 for my re-newal (1 year single user)
  11. bah, i hate BSOD's, ultimately they make no sense to anyone, best way is to just eliminate hardware/software fault, then norrow down to the specific software or hardware that causes it. With BSOD's most the time people say RAM!, not always the case.
  12. id rather have overkill, as my comp was having probs b4 (see my BSOD thread) and since i upgraded my PSU has been fine.
  13. I just got myself a new PSU, ThermalTake Toughpower, 750W, dogs conkers!
  14. nice, pm or post a link to the flash u used?
  15. ahh, those were the ones i was looking at getting, did u flash them urswelf?
  16. It would be much quicker to just use startkey + L (startkey + E is explorer & startkey + R is run) Panarchy If you have a Microsoft keyboard, it's quicker yet to use IntelliType to remap a button to lock the computer. For example, my keyboard has a log off button. I don't log off very frequently, so I just set it to lock the workstation. Win+L is good if you don't have that option. In windows 2000, that doesn't exist, so I recommend making a shortcut as mentioned above and setting it's keyboard shortcut to be Ctrl+Alt+L and then placing it on the desktop. It's only one key more than Win+L, but less work than Ctrl+Alt+Del. Get a macro keyboard and assign the keybind to a single key
  17. the only reason id wanna keep my current ata drive is cause its chipped region free, and i watch all my movies on my comp, surround sound - sounds ace, i know u can flash rom drives, but always a chance of that killing ur drive! the fact SATA drives are same price as ATA drives now makes me wanna change to them. Also, on the note of mobo connectors, we had a new server at work, no floppy connector on board, have to use USB one if needed. Fasing out old connections? maybe?
  18. As SATA DVD drives have come right down in price, was considering getting some for my PC and removing my IDE ones. My question is do they work like IDE ones when installing windows? As in they just work, cause with connecting them to the SATA controller, as with hard drives, you need the Sata drivers to see them, that the same with DVD drives? Just wanna make sure as I havent installed any yet.
  19. ah to many to mention, heres my top 5: COD4 BF2142 TF2 BF2 Red Orchestra
  20. Well, as i was going to buy a new PSU anyway, i did and just fitted it - ahve now remembered how much i hate fitting new PSU's and yes how important cable management is, but also how annoying! lol anyway, time will tell if this has any effect on it, but if it doesnt fix it i know my next step will be hard drives, cheers jcarle
  21. i'll reseat the ata cables, but i have already tested the harddrives, both come bk fine. cant be gfx, as did it before i upgraded my card, mobo - could be. Im going to buy a new PSU anyway, as ill need one for my upgrade next year i feel.
