  2. First of all, Welcome to the board! Befor you post plz you the search option, this topic has been discused in the past. The less double posting we have the better, this will keep the board fast. Thankx :beer -drew
  3. Man...only in the uk!
  4. I have seen similar situations. Try delting the modem in device manager and rebooting. Once it finds it update it with the most current xp driver or if the manufacturer lacks the xp driver, try 2000. :beer -drew
  5. I would try the website of the maker, they might have an update to the driver, or a fix of some sort...by the way, what type of modem is it anyway? -drew
  6. I never really liked Yahoo mail. They do scan your mail for viri but its a bit slow on a dial up and lacks alot of cool ablities such as www.onebox.com With an account you get voice mail, fax, email, and addressbook which can be used from the internet or a phone...Its nice you can send and recive emails obver the phone and with it you dont have to carry around an address book, if you want to add a contact or look at a saved number...no prob. try it out i have used it for a while now :beer -drew
  7. I have had this happen on a few seperate occations. One particular time i was upgrading a cpu, when i went to start it up, i got nothing. i fiddled around with all the hardware, made sure everything was seated correctly, but still got nothing. i swtiched pci cards around and once again made sure thigs were tightly in order...and it started up, to this day i have no idea why it happened :WTF?: On another occation, i was helping a friend set up a system, and once we got all the part togeather, it wouldent start. we tryed everything..no go. We took the mobo back, and the guy said it had been fried, most likely by static shock, he advised us to wear anti-static wrist guards when install or touching computer parts. Im not sure what the deal is with your system, it sounds to me that you fried it. Did you bild it on carpet, did you use antistatic guard? try poping the new hardware in another system and make sure each piece of hardware is not causing the problem, if each one is working then you know that somthing is wrong with the mobo or the power suply. goodluck :beer -drew
  8. The Samsung SyncMaster is one of the few exceptions. I wouldnet mind one at home, they got alot of neat xtras..like picture in picture(so you can watch tv and use the computer). Unfortunitly the price is WAY too high. You can get a CRT with equal or better quatily for alot cheeper. The majority of the decently priced LCDs are crapy and arnt worth the xtra dough. -drew
  9. Amazed?!? LCD flat screes are of a much lower quality then standard Crt moniters. My girlfriend and her room mate both have them, the viewing angle suck, color depth is weak and most cant go past 1024x768 plus the dpi is bad. I would love to have that extra room on my desk and the low radiation but the quailty is too poor for gaming and grafix work. :beer -drew
  10. Thats strange, all you changed was the CPU? Well i would try the Amd upgrade on windows upadate. try this link: http://corporate.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp just search for the driver :beer -drew
  11. Im wondering if the copy of Xp is retail or what. If its off the net try to get another copy or burn another one. It sounds like some corrupt files or somthing of that nature. :beer -drew
  12. forget the IDE contrller. Micro is right...find the right drivers for you vid card, try some older versions of the detonator. :beer -drew
  13. Not a prob "newtoxp"...thats why we are all here. :beer -drew
  14. Another thing make sure and use the windows update. i know that the sb live has issues so you should upgrade all your drivers. as well as the bios of your mobo http://www.giga-byte.com/support/support.htm -drew:D
  15. Try this matt..http://www.giga-byte.com/support/support.htm it says the drivers for the controller is included on the Xp cd, but just try it out and see what happenes. If it doesent work try contacting gigabyte and asking when they will releace a new driver. Im not totally sure that this is the problem, so give me a detaild descrption of what happenes.Ie when, what part of the install, errors, problems etc. -drew
  16. Matt, Its not the Hard drive...its a hard drive controller. this is most likely a on-board, but it still is onsidered a stand alone pice of hardware. Look through your mobo mauel and find the name brand of mobo or hard drive controller. pS - include info on you system in the next post -drew
  17. I bet its because you have a hard drive controller that needs a driver.Go to the manufactures web site and find the xp or newest 200 driver put it on a disk and in the Xp setup, it will ask you if you have any raid or hard drive controllers, press f6 and insert the disk when asked. this will solve the problem. If im wrong, plese give more info on your system and errors. -drew
  18. The reason it wont work with on cd driver is because the driver is mostlikely for 98, while you are runing Xp which a very different OS. Your best bet is to find the most updated driver on the manufactures website. good luck! -drew
  19. Crazy...i thought a water cooled system was a bit over board, but plazma....thats just f***ing insane!:WTF?: -drew
  20. Thankx for all the help chris! YOU ROCK! success in all that you do. -drew
  21. Happy B-day bro! It must kick a** to be 21...now you can... ahh never mind. make sure to get lots of good presants for your girl  -drew
  22. Man! the warez scene is sooo great! i have gotten many games and apps befor they are ever releaced. Im many cases i have beatin games befor they were ever releaced to the public:D -drew
  23. When i was planing on using the water cooling kit www.cpufx.com was very nice and apparently it seems to still be a very nice site still...look it over -drew
  24. This use to happen to me when my system was overclocked too much. If your Comp is OCed then bumb it down a few notches and it will most likely work fine. Im using the same drivers and i havent noticed anything like this...so im not sure as to what is going on. -drew
