Thanks for the heads up. I here that there are quite some improvements in performance if you have the X1xxx series of graphics cards. Also related news: the 512 mb got shipped cause a few people on a few forums have got them already. I cant wait to see comparos between ATI and Nvidias top of the line offerings. Also seems like the ATI R520 is only an interim card and that the R580 a new higher performance card is going to be released somewhere in March.

The 6 mbps stuff that is advertised is in bits most of the times. 1 byte = 8 bits. So to get the actual speed of the download, roughly try dividing 6 mbits by 8 which should result in 750 kb/sec if my math is not incorrect. I thinks thats how it is.

Zxian is right. I have an ages old Linksys wireless b setup, including router and a switch and it must be at least 5-6 years old...(yuck). We have a 3 mbps SBC DSL line. While I can download at over 300 kb most of the time, it is a slight bit faster with a direct connection. I think the hardware we have is not very efficient. So we are thinking of upgrading in a bit to the 802.11n standard once it comes out. Basically my point is G should suit your needs and beyond.

Exactly. Everytime I download and install drivers it is just with the .inf files. I hate the stupid Installshield stuff for drivers.

RealVNC and I didnt know much about the XP Remote desktop dealiyo till my girlfriend showed it to me that she was using it at work...and it was sweet. Also Citrix is really cool...on the very high end but there is absolutely no lag at all!

Exactly. 6.6 all the way! I dont think I will ever need to upgrade from that version. Oh and I found out that 6.6 Nero has a antivirus setup built into it. Iguess it scans the files before it burns them onto cds. How effective is that anyone know?

I dont like Classic at all. I think this Blue theme that MS launched is pretty nice. I wish it was a bit more customizable though.

Actually SamiJam I think you are defragging excessively unless you are doing a lot of file IO intensive tasks. At shutdown I have the option enabled where it cleans out the page file. But thats it. I have the defrag set whenever my computer is on but idle and the screensaver turns on it will defrag. That way I am not spending extra time watching hard drives defrag. Just a matter of convenience I guess. And you can get bootvis if you want to boot your computer faster or just use the Hibernate function.

Be careful to back up all your info from your disk! Disk crashes are nasty!

So there is no way to fix it? I know that is happening to me as well. I think maybe turning off the theme service before loading up the Energy theme would have helped...dunno. I have that happen to me in certain Windows apps. Kind of bothersome so if someone has a cure it would be appreciated.

Well from your screenshots it looks like your theme service could be turned of......maybe that is why they are not showing up properly?
