  1. About 3 weeks ago I got a 240GB Kingston A400 SSD and when I checked something in HDSentinel I saw that my drive is at 97% health already and 80% performance with 1.07TB written My old chinese no name 120GB SSD is still at 100% life and 100% performance after 3 years and about 15TB written and ran only windows 10 I think I will return it and get something else that has a dram cache too
  2. The latest I think it's 372.70 but I'm using 372.54 with a gtx 1060 3gb and got it from the manufacturers website (asus) Didn't have enough time to play a lot of games but in minecraft and euro truck simulator 2 there are no problems (I don't think these games use directx so that's why they work well) There are known issues with directx games in terms of performance Also what motherboard are you using?
  3. @Dixel I understand that you will never ever use software made by KGB and that's your opinion Even if I switch to another AV, isn't something wrong with that dll that made kaspersky crash? Maybe there are programs that won't work with the modifications added by the new dll. Who knows? You could just respond to my topic where I asked what's the best AV for vista with the extended kernel and not make a whole war here How did you get it running? I couldn't make it work and I really want to use chrome instead of firefox
  4. my motherboard does not have windows vista drivers but the windows 7 ones work well
  5. have you tried installing them "unmodded"?
  6. Kaspersky Free 18.0.0.405
  7. ok... after 2 restarts (because of the sidebar bug) kaspesky crashes WMP is still not working, but how can I make the x64 one the default ? edit: I got the dll from the "x86 files" folder, is this the correct one, isn't it?
  8. I guess I should put it in the system32 folder, right?
  9. Does anybody else's windows media player behave weirdly? Mine doesn't want to play any mp3 file but mp4 videos work just fine (I have the k lite mega pack codecs installed) Also the sidebar sometimes won't start but after a restart it's back again and I have this annoying white thing around the calendar gadget which disappears if I switch it to display just the day (this alters after restarts like if I switch it to display the day, now it's fine but after a restart it will have the white thing around and so on)
  10. yes I didn't test any other versions tho
  11. It kinda works but I get a "gldriverquery.exe has stopped working" error. Is it normal? Also was anyone able to get cs:go working? I get "Loader call failed" error
  12. I don't know if this is the best option but I went with Kaspersky Free 18.0.0.405. The issue with it is that I couldn't install it in a vm but on my real pc it works just fine
  13. Thats great! Im going to try it to install office 2010 updates
  14. never heard of it, i'll take a look I think it would be the best option but does the realtime protection work after the trial ends? I was thinking last night about it. I remember seeing people using really old versions like 7.x or so. I know it still receives definition updates but what are the main differences between 7.x and latest supported?
  15. What's "the best" anti-virus program that is compatible with windows vista including the extended kernel in your opinion and why? (Free and paid options, preferably free ofc )
  16. I had a huge problem with version 16 after enabling aero in windows vista. dwm.exe was using a lot of ram and it kept raising and raising until it just crashed because it ran out of ram I use 15.5.7 and I don't have this problem anymore + I don't need to manually download the correct version of vmware tools (I mean it downloads the correct ones) https://my.vmware.com/en/web/vmware/downloads/details?downloadGroup=PLAYER-1557&productId=800&rPId=47861
  17. it's not that bad... yet you can get x79 motherboards and xeons with lots of cores / high frequencies, 64gb of ram or maybe even more (?) they aren't cheap but you need to pay high prices for the best possible performance
  18. thats why we are here to test his kernel and see if it does the job or not
  19. you're almost 14 years late my friend
  20. I said they "work best" not that they don't work at all You can call it the beginning of the vista era since beta 1 (2005) and 2 (2006) were released and you obviously know the final name I don't want to be rude or to insult you but there's something I don't like about you and I don't know how to describe it
  21. very unstable As I said in a previous post, they work best on IDE HDDs and motherboards from the win xp era, not the 2005-2006-2007 vista era as many people think it would work.
  22. I don't know if this has something to do with the HDD's interface but I know from my own experience that longhorn works best on IDE HDDs
  23. I have an asus x540lj with an i3 4005u and 920m from nvidia I wish I could install windows vista but the keyboard (this one is weird because the enter key and arrows somehow works)and trackpad and usb ports don't work because I don't have the drivers.. is it possible to install vista on this thing?
  24. i can't find any listing for 16gb modules a ddr3 module can go up to 16gb theoretically but i've never seen one a ddr4 module can go up to 64gb but again i've never seen one so i think manufacturers don't go to the limit if you know what i mean
