You must have all the Windows Vista updates for installing extended kernel, and then install Windows Server 2008 SHA2 updates.

People who tried Windows 11 know that the shell is clearer, and there are some interesting changes. My question is what Windows 11-s changes can be ported to Windows 10. For example, will be possible to get Windows 11-s explorer, start menu and tray in Windows 10? I answer that because Windows 10 will have a long life like XP or 7, unless Microsoft change the requirements.

Where can I find backported version of Adobe Air 3.1.0.4880?
Sergiaws replied to Sergiaws's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
I-m prety sure that it-s possible to install the normal Adobe Air on Windows2000 Extended Kernel. But I just wanted to do an experiment with an application which requires that Adobe Air on a localized Win2K VM. And you know that it-s difficult to localize Kernel EX. So if it still possible to find that backported Adobe Air, I-ll use it. If not, I-ll create a new VM. -

I have the standard version here, but it requires XP or newer. I asked here because I wanted Bwc's version. -
What about Windows Vista's Explorer.exe? It should be similar to Windows XP's explorer.exe, but Windows Vista is closer to newer Windows versions.

That's not my computer, is my friend who wanted to install an old OS. I have Vista with extended kernel on a 2013 computer. I searched the info about the hardware and provided Hardware Ids of some drivers. He has that computer since 2019, and I can't answer your questions because I don't have that computer infront of me.
-
In that case, what about Windows 7? He just want to install an old Windows together with 10. And for my case, if I buy a new computer, what about installing Vista? Any new hardware supporting it?

I prefer extended Kernel with local redirection.

I think dissabling page file is a good idea for people who has more than 8gb, or they have a modern computer with a good processor, 8+gb of ram and a good processor. But I read that it don't make a significant difference.

As far as I know Windows 7 can trim SSD's. A good thing would be to include a trim utility on Windows 10 installation media, so you can open there the command line and there the Windows 10's trim utility. I'm wondering if something like that would be possible.

I discovered that the program has an option *Windows 7 Aug 2018(. It at least have some updates like IE 11 and .net 4.7, but it have some disadvantages, such as only English US versions. The size of the iso image is 5.5gb. See this article. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/what-is-windows-7-august-2018/1c1ab495-1a9d-4b31-a8fe-757a10be8e50#:~:text="The Aug 2018 Win7 downloads,KB3125574 rollup update are included."

It don't use that Digital River mirror, it's not an old program. It even can download a Windows 8.1 iso or even 10.

I once wanted to try to download a Windows 7 iso, but the page dissapeared! There is a program called Windows iso downloader, but it gives an error if you try to download Windows 7!

There's an important thing to consider, Windows Vista can't Trim SSD's as it does Windows 7/8/10. SSD tweaker configure the system for the SSD, but it can't Trim. I found in a forum a program called ssdtool but I don't know if it really can trim the ssd. So what programs can trim any SSD? ssdtool.zip

I have the same question.

Thanks! I managed to install Bluetooth finally, now my headphones work as they worked with Windows 8.1 and 10. It is easy to configure a bluetooth device.
-
I want to use my bluetooth headphones on Vista, but it don't install the driver. I tried other Windows versions and there it works properly. Windows 8.1 and 10 install it automatically, so there Bluetooth works. I tried Driverscloud, and it offered me a driver. But it don't provide a download link for that bluetooth driver (Toshiba RT Bluetooth radio). Searching the hardware ID, it seems to be Realtec Bluetooth 4.0 which Windows 8.1 and 10 installs automatically. Searching in the Microsoft update catalog, I found a cab file but it's for Windows 8 and there's another for 8.1. If I try to install that inf file Windows gives an error telling that it's not compatible. Tryed again with Device Manager, but it can't find the driver. The hardware id are the following USB\VID_0930&PID_021D&REV_0200 USB\VID_0930&PID_021D Here is also the cab which I used. 20612203_158b8d1e71627626d606a95c07d6275a26c91bdf.cab

You can also try to use vanilla Windows Vista dlls and create a file with the extension .exe.local

Discord and Windows XP
Sergiaws replied to NojusK's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
For XP users I would recommend MiniBrowser (there is a tread about browsers for XP). There is a new version which have much better performance. Don't know if MiniBrowser works in Windows 2000. -
Discord and Windows XP
Sergiaws replied to NojusK's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
I use Windows Vista with extended kernel. Discord works very well on modern chromium browsers. I usually use there Brave (Chromium 91) or Ungoogled Chromium (Chromium 89). -
