  1. They have a purpose in allowing for the user to easily check if the file downloaded properly https://awau.moe/2TeqNyC.png
  2. Would help making a custom updated ISO much easier
  3. I've enabled both site and email notifications for everything, and I'm still hearing random notification sounds from the website, and can't find what's causing it.
  4. I think it's a BIOS issue. I stumbled upon some old messages of me trying this in the past, but with a Ryzen 7 1700, HDD, and the same exact board, like right after I got it, and I had the exact same issues. I had assumed the 1700 was bad in some way, because of issues I had in the past with it, so I thought the Vista issues were from the CPU. (The board I used with the 1700 was what was bad) This leads me to believe it's a BIOS issue because @greenhillmaniac was able to get Vista working fine on a first gen Ryzen CPU. I posted about a custom BIOS request on Win-Raid, but didn't think about posting about me posting that here, as this doesn't have a BIOS area, but after a chat with someone, I decided to post it here, since it's related to getting Vista on my computer. https://www.win-raid.com/t7009f54-Request-BIOS-to-fix-issues-with-my-X-Gaming-Pro-Carbon-and-Windows-Vista.html
  5. That was a faulty AMD driver I tried installing, it's not a issue I'm worried about
  6. I searched the thread, and it's the first time a driver like this was linked https://drivers.softpedia.com/get/GRAPHICS-BOARD/NVIDIA/NVIDIA-GeForce-iCafe-Graphics-Driver-36891-64-bit.shtml
  7. Actually, try this instead https://drivers.softpedia.com/get/GRAPHICS-BOARD/NVIDIA/NVIDIA-GeForce-iCafe-Graphics-Driver-36891-64-bit.shtml
  8. Try modding these drivers to have 1060 support https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/103909/en-us
  9. About the 372.70 drivers Does anyone have a video of this, or know how much it effects the cards? Are there any older drivers that could work better?
  10. On my Vista laptop, I have things like the device manager and UAC prompts error out, but usually trying again fixes it. I sometimes have programs not install, and file copies like never happen.
  11. There are drivers that you can get from a archived download on Intel's site, but XPDM is too different from WDDM I guess. I haven't gotten them working
  12. Same with my 4720HQ laptop (With no GPU drivers HD 4600 is too new). I only had to redo one batch of updates though. I don't have the slow boots, but my (neglected) 3770k second PC does have a slow boot up time, and both are Intel systems with AHCI SATA 3 SSDs, so idk what causes that. I say neglected, because I could test games and such with the x64 kernel on my secondary PC, as the HD 6870 is still fairly decent, but I'm lazy, and want Vista on my main PC, so I don't have to deal with two keyboards and three mice. (I use two mice with my PC, one with an insane DPI, and the other is a PS/2 ball mouse for when I need fine control over the pointer, and have no USB drivers) I found a modded BIOS, so I'll eventually try Vista again. I have HPET disabled, a option that doesn't exist on the stock MSI BIOS for some reason. I'll also try disabling SATA hotswap if I have issues, something I should have tried earlier, but didn't think about. Maybe you could use your knowledge of Vista dlls to find out what causes the service issue, and fix it. You might be able to find a fix for my Ryzen issues too, if I don't.
  13. How is Vista running on the Kaby Lake hardware? Or do you not have Vista on it?
  14. You could just stub them, and see if applications will play well with the stubs
  15. The GPIO was an unrelated issue, I'm talking about everything else
  16. Could you give me your current x86 extensions? I have a collection of older Steam clients, and I'd like to try them with the extensions
  17. I'm using custom XHCI drivers, but the crashes happen without any non-included drivers
  18. I think it might be the Chromium bits causing issues. The new library is basically a webview. I can try running a Oct 2nd copy of Steam, if you do find out how to make Steam use the Windows 7 Chromium files on Vista
  19. I'd use DeepDark if I was able to bring Aero Glass to the theme as well. What I currently use is a modified version of the Simple White X theme that I've modded to be super compact, then used extensions to make more compact. I'd try it in Vista, but I just can't get Vista stable
