  1. As stated in about internet explorer: Well, I guess I'm going to be locked up for quite some time. I've been bad ... a very bad boy EDIT: But to tell you the truth, I really thought I had IE gone on my system - I worked hard to rid myself of it without messing everything up. Nowhere can I call up IE, but its a bit disturbing on how I managed to call up that archaic version on my computer. Run... %windir%\explorer.exe https://msn.com So it goes to show it's never "truly" gone 2ndEDIT: Ok, so let me explain myself a bit. This morning I decided that I really needed a search shortcut for my 'quick launch'. I've already created a 'file explorer' (as you can see) which is really just nothing at all lol (takes you to my computer). So; I searched online and found a site and discovered "%windir%\explorer.exe search-ms:", and much to my surprise when IE came up, I was like ... huh?!? ... so I just messed around and changed it as above. I created that icon and pinned it just for the heck of it.
  2. Edited: Remember, don't take life so seriously; enjoy life :)
  3. That is a 'tongue twister' indeed - say that 3 times fast Seriously (because I'm always very serious .. my face cracks if I try to smile) I'm ok but wonder if somebody "bumps" a thread what that would/will do?
  4. I enabled it today and I see no degradation in speed - I notice no difference so thanks for the advice and hope that is an additional layer of protection, at least I think/hope my hardware is compatible. I downloaded process hacker. I'm rockin' a Dell Optiplex 745 - ACPI Multiprocessor PC. To be honest, this bios hasn't EVER been updated (yeah ... I like to live on the edge Lol) I'm married to this PC so hopefully we'll both grow old gracefully together (I think the computer is doing better than I, though)
  5. Do you guys think turning on (enabling) "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" would help in preventing our malwarebytes installation from being compromised? I normally only protect "essential windows programs and services" - or is there another way to protect our installation from being tampered with. Thank you in advance. EDIT: Such as, protecting the folders: C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\MBAMService
  6. Hope everything went alright with your 2nd shot - I get my 2nd at the end of the month.
  7. Oh, I hope you don't think I was mocking you @VistaEX only kidding with you as I think you possess this innocent quality that I find refreshing! I'm just trying to say, enjoy the experience and don't take life too serious or you're wind up jaded and grouchy like me! That pic really is like looking in the mirror ... I tell ya ... worry too much; and you'll look like that 20 year from now
  8. OH good, I see you're back to VIsta ... don't make me send him (mr. blobfish) after you :D :D :D
  9. I've only used it a few times (live Ubuntu DVD mostly) and while I was able to surf the web, hardly anything else worked lol .. but that was (maybe) 2015ish. I find this to be a bit disturbing to read abut the future of windows ... ugh https://dev.to/bellons91/will-windows-and-linux-be-merged-in-the-future-2pjb https://www.zdnet.com/article/linux-based-windows-makes-perfect-sense/ So here's to the future everyone. On 2nd thought, when I give up this old Chevrolet Chevette here (hehe) it might be time to hook up my rotary phone and use an abacus as my main OS Regardless, hope you are at least learning something (and enjoying) trying out all those Operating systems :)
  10. Well.. FWIW: Malwarebytes 3 is still receiving package updates daily (I update it every day), though, it doesn't receive application or component updates any longer. The latest version I am running, is: Application v3.5.1.2522 - Component Package v1.0.365 ... so that is as good as its gonna get; sadly. I'm certainly not saying its extraordinary, but another option nonetheless EDIT: Ha, apparently that definition update was from 4 hours ago as it just now updated to package version: 1.0.20920 Another thing, although the regular scan may be sufficient, I would select "scan" -> "custom scan" -> "configure scan" and select everything (including the kitchen sink) if you have the time to wait.
  11. So this week I'm going to sit down (its just easier than trying to do it standing) and go through to see what is (and isn't) valid to New Moon 28 and Serpent 52 - as Roy has some settings already where they should be and I trust him completely; then, I shall cough up a legitimate prefs.js here. Honestly, I don't even really need a user.js - I only have a handful of prefs that I like to personalize (some are not in agreement with arkenfox) and I can do that in the native "about:config". I'll start out with fresh profiles as my profiles are getting a bit 'long in the tooth' anyway. Enjoy your Sunday everyone EDIT: Such as.. I'm relatively certain this pref on my computer is not applicable. user_pref("reversecowgirl_enabled", 1)
  12. My next step will also be Vista - I wouldn't use 8 or 10. I'm not even sure where to go from there, perhaps I would just use linux, but we're not there yet. Good luck!!
  13. mwahahaha ... Isn't he cute and cuddly? The Blobfish needs love too, ya know https://authorrisingtide.wordpress.com/2020/08/31/creation-in-and-of-itself-is-a-miracle-but-boy-it-can-sure-be-ugly/ I'll admit; sometimes when I log in its hard to keep breakfast down, so time for a change again. Sorry guys, back to regularly scheduled programing.
  14. Welcome to MSFN - hope you find the forum helpful :)
  15. You cool cucumbers; you ... my internet is so slow I can make a pot of coffee while waiting for a page to load :)
  16. Pretty much everything I say (utter gibberish) fades into the distance anyway - people hope they will soon forget it
  17. Again, thank you @VistaLover for your research. You got it, I picked that up from this user.js on the net. I (just now) toggled it to "False" and then reset it and now its empty Lol. For now, I"ll just reset those 3 to their defaults. This is what is stated in arkenfox. So I will need to read through it better as I've likely many invalid prefs and I am using 52.9.0. Best wishes to you as well
  18. We're also doing great in other areas; as well :) The only thing I'm showing is weak encryption strength ?
  19. Good to know - page wouldn't load on both tests with both Serpent and New Moon :)
  20. Haaa ... you also made me laugh, we all need to not take life so seriously - here is what you missed VEX :D
  21. I'm not sure if its making any difference; but I have these prefs set to the following: user_pref("javascript.options.asmjs", false); user_pref("javascript.options.baselinejit", false); user_pref("javascript.options.discardSystemSource", true); user_pref("javascript.options.ion", false); user_pref("javascript.options.jit_trustedprincipals", true); user_pref("javascript.options.strict", true); user_pref("javascript.options.wasm", false); user_pref("javascript.options.wasm_baselinejit", true);
