I'm hoping to contribute expanding KernelEx one day (But I honestly have no idea how to code). I downloaded the Hex editor and Dependency Walker linked on Jumper's kernelex project page. So far I'm figuring out how to use this thing, could I remove parts of the code that prevent the program from installing on Windows 9x? Doing a little experiment with NanoBrowser and Sleipnir 3, so far these two are the only web browsers I've found without any missing dependencies that give errors in the program. I'm extremely new to this hex editor stuff and have no idea what grey means. Both refuse to open because of my windows version. I also downloaded Microsoft's SDK for Win 9x as well (Never really used C++ before...)

How to install Windows 98SE or ME on Dell Latitude D600
FantasyAcquiesce replied to FantasyAcquiesce's topic in Windows 9x/ME
I checked now, the instructions you originally gave me from microsoft works! Turns out I was using the wrong commands I wanna thank whoever contributed to this "project" The unsupported Dell Latitude D600 models can now unofficially run Windows 98 properly! This topic can also help those trying to get older models to work as well. The D Latitude Series' compatibility with is hit and miss with choosing models I can confirm Windows 98SE is indeed possible on the D505 http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=15907 Other compatible models include (According to here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dell_Latitude#D-Family) D400 -Intel 855PM Chipset, Intel UMA integrated (Intel(R) Extreme Graphics 2 driver), Broadcom 5705M Gigabit Integrated Controller, Dell 1450 miniPCI Wireless Card (Broadcom BCM4306 802.11 a/b/g Wireless Card), AC'97 (Soft Audio) D410 - Intel 915GM Chipset D500 - Intel 855GM Chipset D505 - Intel 855GME Chipset *D610 - Intel 915PM Chipset model only! ATI Mobility Radeon X300! Broadcom 57xx Gigabit Controller, Intel PRO 2200 (802.11b/g) or Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG or Dell 1370, SigmaTel C-Major STAC 9751 (AC97) (Same audio as the Dell 600 I believe!) D800 - Intel 855PM, nVidia GeForce4 440 Go, SIGMATEL STAC 9750 (The driver used on the D600 and D610 may or may not work!) D810 - Intel 915PM, Nvidia FX1400 Models require the unofficial video card, other models come with ATI discrete X300 video card (supported on 98!), Sigmatel STAC 975X (The same audio driver for the D600 probably works), wireless can be a Dell Wireless Card 1350/1450/1370/1470 (A.K.A Broadcom) or Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG, same ethernet as D600! Incompatible D510 - Intel 915GM Chipset, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900...(No Windows 9x drivers for that...) Chipset: INF Update Utility for 848, 865, 875, 910, 915, 925 Chipset-Based Intel Desktop Boards https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/14713 810/815/820/830/852/855 Chipset families, as well as the Intel® 840/860/E8870 Chipsets. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/8177/INF-Update-Utility-Zip-Format?product=27672 I'm not sure if there are drivers for the 945 family chipset after searching online. I found these two that claim to hold support for Windows 98, but these are untested! The latitude models with the 945 chipset are not included 945PM http://download.cnet.com/Intel-Chipset-945PM-8-1-1-1010-zip/3000-2122_4-162336.html 945GM http://download.cnet.com/Mobile-Intel-R-945GM-Express-Chipset-Family-Display-Drivers/3000-2098_4-98144.htl One last thing I need to solve: Getting sound to work on DOS! -
I've tried it myself and I find it mediocre personally. It will get the job done and all, but if you browse this website there will be glitches everywhere. I'm sure its a lot better than any browser for Windows 95 though I appreciate the fact that someone on the internet is making an effort to improve web browsing on legacy OSes!

How to install Windows 98SE or ME on Dell Latitude D600
FantasyAcquiesce replied to FantasyAcquiesce's topic in Windows 9x/ME
I tested this, now DOS works HOWEVER I get an error "File not found" "Invalid drive specification" when directly launching a dos program that automatically restarts 98se into dos mode. When I try going into another dictionary, I get the message "Bad command or file name" when I tried c:\>dir /GAMES (Folder) I simply get the message "Invalid switch -/games. I've tried doing / and \, nothing seems to be letting me enter a folder even though I can use the "dir /ad" command! -
Adobe Audition 3.0 on Windows 2000
FantasyAcquiesce replied to cc333's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
For spoofing the Windows version, try this blog.livedoor.jp/blackwingcat/archives/1925971.html WARNING: RESTORE THE ORIGINAL WINDOWS VERSION OTHERWISE WINDOWS WON'T BOOT PROPERLY!!! -
There is this as well: http://web.archive.org/web/20070407064532/http://www.boingo.com/download_windows.html. Biongo Wireless Utility supports all cards for W2K, someone really needs to include a WPA2 utility in the pinned threads.

Installing Windows 98 SE on Dell Latitude D630 with Intel GPU
FantasyAcquiesce replied to cc333's topic in Windows 9x/ME
I don't own a D620, but a D600...Since I spent so much time trying to find drivers for that model, I'm more than willing to help search What wireless card model do you have? I'm not aware if Dell had the D620 in different configurations besides sometimes including a graphics card. CNET...Not sure if this wireless card would work http://download.cnet.com/Network-Dell-Wireless-1370-WLAN-MiniPCI-Card-Wireless-1390-WLAN-MiniCard-Wireless-1395-WLAN-MiniCard/3000-2112_4-177235.html Another user (PROBLYMCH3LD) taught me that the driver of a wireless card can be modified/hacked to run on Windows 9x if its not missing any dependencies. I'm assuming if the card doesn't work, try contacting him and send him it, he maybe able to make it work. According to the Dell website, the D620 uses the same ethernet controller (or whatever you call it) as the D600. If you have Broadcom 57XX, then here it is http://support.advantech.com/support/DownloadSRDetail_New.aspx?SR_ID=1-13YAFU&Doc_Source=Download Audio is "SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio" rather than 9750 for the D600...I've managed to find an old post from 2006 on the official dell website asking for one, but the link was broken...I'll keep looking for it. Source: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3513/t/18060623 If anyone manages to find a version of the audio older than 5.10.0.4691, A01 in existence say so! This source claims to support Windows ME and 98SE, but I'm doubting it http://download.cnet.com/Audio-SIGMATEL-STAC-92XX-C-Major-HD-Audio-Driver-Version-A01/3000-2110_4-107733.html I used this driver for the D600, but I'm not sure if it would work on a D620...(Use only as a last resort, as it likely doesn't work) https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/5500/Audio-Sigmatel-AC97-Driver Since we're talking about the D620 and not the D630, you should change the title of the topic. -
How to install Windows 98SE or ME on Dell Latitude D600

Same issue here, not sure how to solve it though...Might need to ask on multiple forum sites as well. -
I don't have any useful information, but... do you know if there's a way to include support for Skylake CPU's and later pc's that refuse to accept a Windows 8.1 and earlier CD?

Hello! After being dissatisfied with Windows 9x on my Dell Latitude D600 (I love Windows 9x, but its instability bugs me >.<) I'm hoping to try NT 4.0 instead. The drivers were a billion times easier to find for NT 4.0 than Windows 98SE/ME So far I'm at the formatting part. I'm wondering if there's any way I could get NT 4.0 to go beyond a "8gb" partition. When I tried to make a partition that's 8000MB, NT forced it to be 8001MB and refuses to let me install on that partition because its "too large".

How to install Windows 98SE or ME on Dell Latitude D600
FantasyAcquiesce replied to FantasyAcquiesce's topic in Windows 9x/ME
Thank you for the information! Added these links to the description! Does anyone have a VM to test this on? http://drivers.brothersoft.com/modem/conexant/ If this downloader is legitimate, this maybe the driver for the modem! It says it supports ME! I'm unsure how many different API's ME has from 98 (Heck, someone mentioned only some 98 drivers work on me, but it didn't seem that way in my experience) or if that has anything to do with compatibility issues. -
Samsung Galaxy i747 Wifi forced off???
FantasyAcquiesce replied to FantasyAcquiesce's topic in Android
Welp, I found help on another site. If anyone's Samsung Galaxy S3's wifi and audio stop working because of upgrading the bootlauncher, go here http://androidforums.com/threads/samsung-galaxy-s3-i747-wifi-wont-turn-on.1085760/#post-7420685 -
Hi MSFN! I messed around with my old, slow phone (with no warranty left) by rooting it with iRoot, then proceeded to remove system applications that bloated up the phone, then installed clockworkmod recovery. After countless failed attempts of trying to upgrade to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, I upgraded the bootloader then I noticed the wifi won't turn on. I tried resetting the phone, but the removed system apps and wifi did not come back. I tried airplane mode, but the phone got stuck on it, with the icon still appearing after reboot while the options said it was off. I tried using a backup from when the wifi did work with no luck, I kept getting pestered with a message that a certain process wasn't working. After fighting with the phone I tried going into odin download mode then flashed the i747 stock rom. This fixed the errors, but now my phone is missing system apps and the wifi still REFUSES to turn on. Any tips?

How to install Windows 98SE or ME on Dell Latitude D600
FantasyAcquiesce replied to FantasyAcquiesce's topic in Windows 9x/ME
To fix the CD or DVD Drive, go to system, resources, uncheck the default configuration, then click the very bottom option of the resources, go down one so it doesn't conflict, then the cd or dvd drive should work and be recognized by Windows after installing software for the Storage Controller (However, it still has an explanation mark afterwards) -
Anyone still using Windows XP as main OS?
FantasyAcquiesce replied to Stefan43's topic in Windows XP
Windows XP is the latest version of Windows that works quickly on my laptop with a Intel Core Duo 2 T7200. Anything newer makes the laptop rather slow, while its still usable Windows 7 w/ all updates caused a very high framerate drop on the game of Minecraft compared to XP considering the laptop isn't even meant for that. Plus I highly doubt Windows XP support in general will evaporate even half as fast as Windows 2000 and 9x.- 78 replies

Not sure if this counts (more like hardware): A mouse I bought at daiso japan claimed to be compatible with ME, 2000, XP, Vista, and 7. I actually tested this and it did work on my ME, yet strangely would not work on 98SE on the same laptop unless I plugged in my ancient usb hub with built in drivers first than the mouse, but the mouse itself couldn't be plugged in alone. Windows ME in general has better plug n' play support than 98SE quite a bit even after installing the universal usb driver for 98SE (Not sure about the instability or not since I found both equally as unstable). While they both suffer from the same issue of keeping anything in the usb port during boot that causes hanging, ME is superior with the price being no DOS (although it can be patched).

A few sketches I made

Finally figured out the jagged lines were due to VERY low dpi... Do you have any idea how to change dpi in Manga Studio in a drawing? -
Sounds like a variety of issues I had with XP on an unsupported laptop that could only run 7 or later and forced bad specs on the user. For your WIFI issue, try this Not sure why it does this: WPA2 doesn't seem to work on unsupported XP laptops despite the wireless adapter being compatible with XP, odd enough the WPA2 works on Vista and later. You need to install Biongo Wireless in order to re-enable WPA2

I feel your pain :l I like Windows 7, but I actually like Vista more than it. Windows 7 is straight up bloated compared to XP (Sometimes Vista!). Unfortunately sometimes we're forced to use it because of programs companies forcefully block XP :l My school used really bad tiny computers which were pretty slow even with XP, once they "upgraded" to 7 all the computers could barely be used for typing.

Not really sure about drivers themselves, but you could always try Snappy Driver Installer or Driverpack Solution, or maybe even Freecd.cn-easy driver as a last resort. (All of these are free automatic offline driver installers! Helped me a lot! Can be run from a flash drive!!!) Not sure if this is relevant: My Dell Latitude D600's official audio driver would not properly install, neither would the official video driver. Sometimes Snappy Driver Installer worked, but usually the drivers would fail to install oddly. I tried " free cn easy driver v3.0", a discontinued offline driver installer and it worked! There might be a good chance one of these could help your issue if official drivers are giving you an issue.

I believe Waterfox supports XP x64 Its a branched off version of Firefox. When the main version of a web browser doesn't support XP, usually its best to look for branched off versions if you hope for legacy support.
