So i have updated to SP3 3.5.2 and its fixed, so it means that Windows 98 has from design broken not stable framerate? I dont remember that from old times, but i never had highend hardware. What is know biggest save ammount of Ram? Make sense install KernelEX too (from gaming stability point of view).

Hello, im have know nice Unraid Win98 SE machine with Geforce 7950GT passthrough and 1 core from Core i7 5960X 512 MB very cheap USB sound card - could be source of issue but its all paches instaled even official update 2007 CPU i its powerful enough, problem is that i have in every game which i have tested (Quake 3,Unreal Tournament 99 etc) short freeze every 20-30s, i had similar issue with Windows 98 physical machine. Question is how to debug it, its this simply Windows 98 architecture issue or how to fix? In other Virtualized OS on same HW, i have such issue even in much more demanding games like Skyrim.

Hello, im looking for ultimate Unraid retro gaming usb soundcard with Win98 support. Would be nice, if such card would be available in some EU store, US shipping price are usualy mad and i dont have any friend in USA/Canada for passthrough.

Small update, you dont need USB to Lan adapter, its possible just edit machine XML to use virtual Realterk 8139 and for it, Windows 98SE driver exist.

Hello, i have HW related freezes with new Z97 MB - last bios, when dics or partitions are detected - its during HWinfo start detection - HDD device is removed from system and shutdown after is broken and i have to use button on power supply, reset is not working at all. Second place where is this happening is when i use backup utility which scanning partitions - R-Drive image - i got complete freeze - during analyzing partitions tasks, its worked of previous board. Other thing is that drive is GPT and is avalaible in Safetly remove dialog as SCSI device - its Sata AHCI, when i connect other HDD or SSD they are in this dialog avalaible. Crystal disk info dont see this drive at all. MB is Intel chipset 9 -Intel+Asmedia controllers i used last Asrock Z97 Extreme 4 /3.1 Zdrivers and i have tried last Fernando drivers, its same. problematic HDD is on Asmedia controller(2015 driver). Do you have idea, how to debug it, were could be problem? I have installed Intel rapid storage utility in tray, with previous MB i havent, i could be a different i dont know why, but its even to have any Exit or Kill button.

Hello, at the start i just wanted to try install XP on X99 MB for retro gaming on multiboot system, but i ended with 920 MB of available RAM and i was unable to fix it, but i expected that is some XP 32 missing driver bug, but i now i have installed Win 7 32 bit supported OS and its the same, i have installed 2x8 GB of RAM and expected at least 2500 MB of RAM and i cant even ram some games because of not enough memory error(s). On same HW Win 7 64bit and Linux 64 working well - 16 GB Ram available. It looks like some MSI Bios issue that some memory range on board is too huge and ignoring possibility of supported 32 bit OS! Its not issue of additional components, i have only 1 additional card - GPU and have tried 3 - different cards is still same - Geforce 1030, Geforce 220 and ATI Radeon 1300 Pro + 2 SATA - SSD + HDD discs, even BIOS is lastest. Info about same issue in XP part of forum: I have checked all Bios setting but i dont see anything what how possibly fix it and i havent already tried it. Board specs details: https://msi.com/Motherboard/X99S-SLI-PLUS.html#hero-specification I wonder if i can fix it, by buy MB from other vendor - Asus, Gigabyte etc? Could someone try to install XP, just for RAM check, from YUMI USB flash - its just 10 minute thing... only you need switch Sata controllers to IDE mode or to some compatibility mod.

Windows 2000 Professional on the X99 Platform
ruthan replied to bluebolt's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Hmm, 1.5 GB in Win 2000 is still better than 920 MB in WinXP SP3 32bit with my MSI X99 setup, i have tried 2 gpus - ATI and Nvidia (old ones). -
XP Pro 32bit on X99 with 16GB of Ram, only 912MB of RAM available, why?
ruthan replied to ruthan's topic in Windows XP
I googled, i looks like problem with memory range for some device, is too huge, but i dont know how to change it. Other people had same problem. When i boot in Linux 64bit i see all 16 GB of RAM. I also tested Win 7 64bit - all ok and other fully image of WinXP 32 image transfer - same problem - cca 920 MB RAM. I know that XP is not supported, but this board is XP 32 bit unfriendly i dont know if other X99 could be better (more that 1 GB of RAM). https://superuser.com/questions/89997/windows-only-sees-768-mb-ram-out-of-4-gb https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/978610/the-usable-memory-may-be-less-than-the-installed-memory-on-windows-7-b Similar problem of other user here with Asrock board and X99 and Windows 2000 - 1.5 GB of Ram, from 4 GB: Here you can see, that memory address range for one BUS PCI is huge. I dont know maybe is because i disable lost of integrated devices for smoother install, i checked bios, there is no setting which could affect this. Update i just checked Win 7 64bit device manager memory range for this device is same - it could be Bios design flaw - nobody care about 32 OS usage, i wonder if Windows 7 32 or Windows 10 32bit would have more RAM available? Update: I have tried 3 GPus and Windows 7 32 bit - its the same. -
Hello, i have this X99 MB -MSI X99S SLI PLUS with Windows XP SP3 32bit + Geforce 7950 GT PCI-E - all updates and 2x 8GB (3000 Mhz, Dual Channel) of DDR4 Memory, Aida64 see - 2 stick In Windows i see only 912 MB of available of RAM, im used to 3.* GB or 2.9 or something like that what could be wrong? Part of cd image was some Firadisk driver i have such device in device manager. Im using IDE mode of Sata devices and some null drivers for unknow devices - but problem with RAM was right after installation. How to fix it? BTW im still looking for Intel 218-V driver for XP, sound and GPU acceleration is working so, if i fix RAM problem and LAN driver - XP for retro gaming could be great with this board.
-
Can someone pleas share that Windows 2000 / XP 32bit - Intel 218-V driver?

Seaching for Intel 210-219 LAN XP / 2003 32 / 64 bit driver

Device ID 15A1. I have tried driver e1d above, i was able to install it, but it was not working - exclamation mark, after reboot - Start could not be started. I have invested a lot of time so not networking without some coding (i dont know if just some inf editation could be enough) -
Windows 98 SE dont change boot option to safe mode after crash
ruthan replied to ruthan's topic in Windows 9x/ME
Hmm, this is not solution.. i still got error windows not finish loading error and default boot option after that is still 3. -
Ok, thanks it is working. Only installation process was a bit, complicated - when i point Device manager to driver folder, i got endless searching for driver dialog, which have to be killer, after that, in Device manager for new device with Exclamation mark, but was now possible to use Have to a disk option and point driver searcher directly to *.inf file. I have Asmedia and Intel Sata controller and im using Paragon GPT driver, so i have to switch between IDE and AHCI mod in Bios and install Asmedia Sata driver in safe mode and after that i could switch to back from IDE to AHCI.

Great to know, was using 25 years config.sys, but i never though that msdos.sys is same sort of beast. -

Hello, im trying to remove driver - ASATAFLT.sys which i can see in autoruns, it has Asus signature, is from old board, i now have other MSI board, i have tried disable device in autoruns or delete all registry entries, there is not some related installed software, but everytime when i disable it, im getting boot bluescreen. How to fix it and properly remove it? If you need more information, i would provide them.
