Seaching for Intel 210-219 LAN XP / 2003 32 / 64 bit driver
ruthan replied to ruthan's topic in Windows XP
Worked for this NIC and Windows XP, or its generic experience? Update: In this package is not driver for Intel 218-V, so we still need a help. I also checked blackwing driver for Windows 2000 - its not working for me - device start error(10). -
What is best USB Soundcard for Win98/XP/Win7 x64 setup?
ruthan replied to ruthan's topic in Windows 9x/ME
Months ago i bough 1 USB soundcard on eBay for 3$ because my new soundcard cant be passthrough to old OSes no driver and its working, yeah sound quality is not great, but for some games on old OS is enough for my ears.. Its working from Win98 to Win 7 64bit with some universal USB audio driver - its probably something like SB16 or AC97 compatible soundcard. Have USB plug and play and small soundcard as device is practical and pass through of old card is problematic (new hardware works, older PCI cards not working often and you need lots of slots - i have 3 GPU with big coolers, so slots are problem). Present days MB even dont have PCI slots and PCI-E to PCI adapters is other possible source of problems. @loblo : Thanks, its great that USB Audio standard exist, on posted page is lots of devices, could you recommend me just something simple and UAC1 compatible? I would be ok with just 2 jacks out + mic, optimal is 4+ jacks for - directional audio and price <100 bucks, 150$ (for directional audio). -
I just tested Dibya PAE patch on X99 machine, its absolutely great with 920 MB - default 32 bit usable RAM from 16 GB on this MB, slow.. festival of swapping, now is pretty fast, i didnt tested a lot of compatibility, just few games but its fastest XP with installed apps, which i had, maybe expect unsupported XP64.

Update: I have removed GPU drivers - so i have Standard VGA compatible, its still freezing, is SATA related or other HW related. I have tried to reinstall all Rloew Sata patch and all Bios Sata settings, but its still the same. One more infa after few minutes of nothing is computer autorestarted - maybe it helps.

Hmm, did few rounds, im able to make normal mode boot, when i reinstall Intel 865 chipset drivers, or when i messing with Sata patch, but second reboot ends always in situation when cursor is blinking on black or boot screen freeze no ESC(during loading). Configuration is Intel 865 chipset + Core 2 Duo - Asrock Conroe865 + Geforce 6600 GT, 1 SSD - on primary Sata port + DVD drive on Sata controller - from SIL. BIOS - disc controller setttings - is Compatible Sata + IDE. I remember that in the pass i was experimenting with unofficial Nvidia 82 driver and officially not supported G7600 AGP and with PCI-E GPUs on 4core MB, know i have Unofficial driver in list of instlalled programs, but uninstallation is not working, so maybe some pieces of this driver are used instead proper official files. I not fan of fresh install, because of usually more wasted time and resurent old installation, where is are things adjusted to my needs and im quite poweruser. I really dont know if is problem in disc controller settings, or with GPU or with some software settings, some log would really help.. I really dont have good memory its few years, when i won this battle but, because of hardware failure i have to fight it again.. I already working on me AM3 Win98 machine, but i want to keep this on as backup + also made some Unraid - KVM - machine with Geforce 7950GT passthrough - its working and it has some flaws too (but it seems that is much less problematic that physical HW - i dream about X99 machine with physical WinXP, Win7,Win10 + Geforce 970 (Win7/Linux/MacOS) + Geforce 750Ti(XP) + unraid in multiboot with Windows 98 with Geforce 7950GT and XP with G750TI passthrough). its in process.

I can confirm that M5A97 R2.0 +AMD slow pseudo 8core can boot Windows 98SE, but i can tell anything about Storage (im now using IDE mode it is slow for now, maybe because of other drivers) and GPU, Audio and Lan - work in progress. I probably did mistake with Realtek LAN - 8111 is supported, but probably not all models i have 8111F. GPU - Geforce 7950 GT 512MB + unofficial drivers 82, i got strange Windows protection error - Configmg message. after drivers installation.. I also messing with Intel PCI-E 1000 CT Desktop network adapter - its seams that there are drivers, i could install them, but after reboot i got boot screen freeze, could Intel PCI-E network card work in Win98 SE? There also strange USB behavior, only in same mode i could see USB Fat32 flashdisk - even in USB3 port(Asmedia) and keyboard through USB to PS2 adapter is working, even in save mode. WHat is not working and working in my other Win98 machines is USB audion soundcard, here is detected as USB complex device, not soundcard, i dont know if i need a driver? I almost forgot how Win98 drivers hell looks like:)

Hello, i just need to resurrect my old physical HW installation of WIn98 SE, my board died, i used some board with VIA Core 2 chipset, now i have back my Intel 865 chipset. In safe mode is now booting fine, all devices are recognized no exlamation mark, but when i reboot i got freeze, during boot after keyb message.. When i remove all system devices i can boot into normal Windows 98 mod. I have i additional problem, when i start New hardware wizard, i got some INF file is broken message and new HW is not recognized, even HW tree is empty. How to fix it? What i can try?

I wasnt successfull (SB0570) with this driver too, its shame because Unraid can passthrough this card, i have some of SB Live 24 Gold and this one is cant be pass throught.

ruthan replied to bluebolt's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Yeah i saw this thread but, where is actual version, its from first post, or is somewhere else, whole long threads are complicated, there is some info about bugs and some fixes in developement.. A i dont know history, so i dont know, if 1 post was reupdated with last patch version or not. Second question is how to install it, there is not any info / readme, only pack of exe and sys files etc.. -

Could you link pleas actual version of that pae patch? -
So i have updated to SP3 3.5.2 and its fixed, so it means that Windows 98 has from design broken not stable framerate? I dont remember that from old times, but i never had highend hardware. What is know biggest save ammount of Ram? Make sense install KernelEX too (from gaming stability point of view).

Hello, im have know nice Unraid Win98 SE machine with Geforce 7950GT passthrough and 1 core from Core i7 5960X 512 MB very cheap USB sound card - could be source of issue but its all paches instaled even official update 2007 CPU i its powerful enough, problem is that i have in every game which i have tested (Quake 3,Unreal Tournament 99 etc) short freeze every 20-30s, i had similar issue with Windows 98 physical machine. Question is how to debug it, its this simply Windows 98 architecture issue or how to fix? In other Virtualized OS on same HW, i have such issue even in much more demanding games like Skyrim.

Hello, im looking for ultimate Unraid retro gaming usb soundcard with Win98 support. Would be nice, if such card would be available in some EU store, US shipping price are usualy mad and i dont have any friend in USA/Canada for passthrough.

Small update, you dont need USB to Lan adapter, its possible just edit machine XML to use virtual Realterk 8139 and for it, Windows 98SE driver exist.

Hello, i have HW related freezes with new Z97 MB - last bios, when dics or partitions are detected - its during HWinfo start detection - HDD device is removed from system and shutdown after is broken and i have to use button on power supply, reset is not working at all. Second place where is this happening is when i use backup utility which scanning partitions - R-Drive image - i got complete freeze - during analyzing partitions tasks, its worked of previous board. Other thing is that drive is GPT and is avalaible in Safetly remove dialog as SCSI device - its Sata AHCI, when i connect other HDD or SSD they are in this dialog avalaible. Crystal disk info dont see this drive at all. MB is Intel chipset 9 -Intel+Asmedia controllers i used last Asrock Z97 Extreme 4 /3.1 Zdrivers and i have tried last Fernando drivers, its same. problematic HDD is on Asmedia controller(2015 driver). Do you have idea, how to debug it, were could be problem? I have installed Intel rapid storage utility in tray, with previous MB i havent, i could be a different i dont know why, but its even to have any Exit or Kill button.

Hello, at the start i just wanted to try install XP on X99 MB for retro gaming on multiboot system, but i ended with 920 MB of available RAM and i was unable to fix it, but i expected that is some XP 32 missing driver bug, but i now i have installed Win 7 32 bit supported OS and its the same, i have installed 2x8 GB of RAM and expected at least 2500 MB of RAM and i cant even ram some games because of not enough memory error(s). On same HW Win 7 64bit and Linux 64 working well - 16 GB Ram available. It looks like some MSI Bios issue that some memory range on board is too huge and ignoring possibility of supported 32 bit OS! Its not issue of additional components, i have only 1 additional card - GPU and have tried 3 - different cards is still same - Geforce 1030, Geforce 220 and ATI Radeon 1300 Pro + 2 SATA - SSD + HDD discs, even BIOS is lastest. Info about same issue in XP part of forum: I have checked all Bios setting but i dont see anything what how possibly fix it and i havent already tried it. Board specs details: https://msi.com/Motherboard/X99S-SLI-PLUS.html#hero-specification I wonder if i can fix it, by buy MB from other vendor - Asus, Gigabyte etc? Could someone try to install XP, just for RAM check, from YUMI USB flash - its just 10 minute thing... only you need switch Sata controllers to IDE mode or to some compatibility mod.

Hmm, 1.5 GB in Win 2000 is still better than 920 MB in WinXP SP3 32bit with my MSI X99 setup, i have tried 2 gpus - ATI and Nvidia (old ones).
