the simply way for me is not to know what hotfixes are installed . i need to know what arent installed . i use wpi as separate CD . today , they are 24 critical hotfixes . 1. 20 of them after install (i use svcpack.inf and WPI for newcomers) make an kbxxxxxx.log in %WinDrive%\ (c:\windows) 2. KB893803 , the v2 , make an kb893802v2.log, same folder . 3. 873374 , GDI+ , i use registry way from Incroyable HULK post . can be run milion times , no problem. 4. KB893066 , the v2 use the same KB893066.log like old v1 , shame to MS. if the log does not exist you can say isnt installed , if exist ? is v1 is v2 ? same folder c:\windows\KB893066.log 5. same boolean with malicious kb890830, one file , monthly appended by the new version . if dont exist isnt installed . if exists is v1.1 or v1.5 ? different folder and filename : C:\WINDOWS\Debug\mrt.log also can be run milion times , no problem.

cmd1[pn]=['%ProgramFiles%\\aaa\\bbb.exe'] with that , no matter in what drive is windows installed . recommanded . double backslashes , if you edit manually config.js

yes , buy a good one , like i said .it need a pair of memories only for dual chanell . not your case. so , the best is to buy the capacity you need in one piece replacing old memory . DDR333..400..500 are just faster memories . will work ok on your 266MHz mobo , except the case you want to keep the old memory(ies) , case when nobody can predict how can understand eacheather the old and new memories.

there 2 maybe 3 generations after your mobo who dont know nothing about dual channel. so , forget that . just buy good memories . dual channel means , if you have 2 banks with 1 or 2 slots each (2 or 4 slots, generally with different colors per banks , never three slots ) if you put two memories , one in each bank , IF the mobo knew , at the same time , the processor can write in one memory and read from other . no 2 reads no 2 writes same time. this help programs with many arithmetic calculations. dual channell kit : some vendors (maybe manufacturers ) said that you have supplimentary reasons to buy them products . if you have an 486 PC , same thing is recommended , if you need to put 2 memories , is good to be identical . so ... just extra money for others.

@kelsenellenelvian in the installation window appear a not translated message translate into romanian but i am not sure if it is correct the english sentencebecause i think that WPI is now setting up ... not windows . of course that because i use a separate WPI CD. @kel is possible to make a custom width for this installation window ? i wish that a little wider .

this is the easy way for the WPI funs.i download the file , i install it with parameters of course after installing of installer 3.1 v2 (was already installed)all ok . no request from v6 to install anything . i think the way is ok for all computers with windows xp already installed. the file above is named WindowsUpdateAgent20-x86.exe and contain over 20 languages , viewable with winrar . i am thinking about deleting 19 from them !? can be bother this the launcher ?

many programs including XP have a lot of problems with diacritics (special chars) , especially with them in pathes . so , i try to dont use them . is the best way . you can solve now a problem with XP , after that you might solve with winrar...so on.

@argon007KB885884 is just a contextual update , only for the Office XP funs . so not everybody need it .

i am a big fun of this program . so , i can help testing it ... another thing about WPI 3.5.0 . i use a lot fileexist and getOSver for my programs and i use no column break in categories set to yes . if i have a group A with 10 programs , and the next group B is sent to next column or next page , then , if i hide by my boolean 9 programs from the first group A, so group A will have only one listed program , then the second group B is also sent to the next column or page , and i have a column with a single program in group A. it seems like always are counted all program to appear , not counted just the programs who must appear conform boolean .

solved . with a deleted key . my APPlication folder is a subfolder of above Programs folderand is deleted too. i aplly the tweak and after restart the sort is ok.

as a last task of WPI , i just create "%AllUsersProfile%\Start Menu\APPlications"and "%UserProfile%\Start Menu\APPlications" as folders and after that , my_WPI_cleanup.cmd move the existing links , already created from their applications , uA installed , from the two Start Menu folders in Start Menu\APPlications so this is simple . the re-order in \APPlications is just what i want . i tested once with delete the registry key named StartMenuOrder and dont work then .

below you can see how look my start menu after my uA_XP_CD(nLite+BTS+WMP10) plus WPI_CD(all silent or uA) . of course , the quick launch is still enabled manually , but really i dont care anymore about that , i spent too much time for nothing . so , my_WPI_cleanup.cmd move all the links of my apps in the APPlications folder . my problem is if it is possible to rearrange the content of APPlications subMenu of course unattended , as a my_WPI_cleanup.cmd included tweak ?

i posted here my romanian template . and then , in the next version i had it . ask nicely and you will get it . till then , you can modify an existing language option , and will work . read there , are only 4 pages.

no . i cant help you here. i use WPI only as a separate_CD for now is not in my intentions to include it in my uA_XP_CD . i refresh my uA_XP once a month , after MS_patch_day, and my WPI_CD once a week . so , for me , the single difference between WPI included in uA_XP_CD or not is just an extra eject to the optical drive , on the other hand i have more space , i can use WPI_CD on more computers even with XP installed, testing it more times , more up to date stuff there .... , i can use an application without silent/uA switces and i can use colors ... this is a joke , of course . i am sure that are more advantages vs. one minor : an eject_CD but this is just an opinion . if i miss some other reasons , you can share them...

BUT at the last installation , i rearranged the apps order in my WPI_CD and PowerDVD was installed after BSplayer and WInAMP , and WMP10. and THIS PopwerDVD take ALL_POSSIBLE_EXTENSIONS for him. register all . i dont try yet to open .gif or. bmp with PopwerDVD, but i think that can handle that even a .dbf. i love powerDVD for DVD only , not music , not .avi's, not database files . i use for that MS Access 2000. i love winamp for music , not for DVDs... an so on... this is the reason for my winamp_file_registrations need.

i want to share you this : if progB is dependent by something like and progA exclude progBIF condition is false (OS=2003, for ex.) so progB is not show up , is in fact hidden then you get an error . probably progA have not what to be excluded !? at least in WPI 3.5.0 . i still dont use yet 3.5.1 because the getOSver dont work there ! not with XP or wxp or WXP and i use it a lot.

@vakhal take the advice from @djbe . is the best way . i start in january and i have now 25 word pages in my config.js. you can find around some samples of config's , but not always will be good samples : some guys make their own sfx packs , so some time you will not have same sources . start to use the wizard and then you wil be able to edit manually the config.js good luck
