ya, you should definetly consider selling the 6600. a 6800gs/gt or even better, a 7800gt would help out much more. if you are worried about the money then just go sli but you will have much more performance if you get a 6800.

disconect and reconect the sata/ide cables for the hdd's. if that doesnt work then put ur old hdd in another computer to see if you can get your data back. also try installing windows on the new 40gig hdd to see if you can access the old hdd.

well just b/c its 256mb , it doesnt mean that is good. for todays games you need a minimum of a 6600gt. my 7800gt is the same price as an xbox360.

Actually, you can get a decent video card for 100$ if you live where i live. 256 mb vid card for 70-90$ 128mb vid card for 50-60$. i think he is talking about the 7800gt like what i have. it will play all games on high settings and 8xAA 4xAF 1280x1024 and somehow FEAR can even go 16xAA 4xAF for me. last week i decided to try out my xbox again and wow do those graphics suck, not to mention im playing on a 20yr old tv! lol

you can do what he said but if you dont want to switch out the hdd then you can just transfer the files over a home network, or you can buy an ethernet crossover cable.

pIII has nothing to do with it, i have it installed on my dad's pII and it runs amazing for a 350mhz cpu. try to integrate the right drivers into you xpcd.

which enthusiasts are you talking about? i would not call them enthusiasts, i would call them dumb. the real enthusiasts want a high overclock. considering that the 7800gtx doesnt even use 8x(but is it close), why would they need 16x? i would just wait until i wanted to get a card that can even run over 8x, which may be a while.

well for amd the ram doesnt matter that much, there have been tests done and the only thing that rly matters is how fast the cpu is. the test for the ram was high bandwith and loose timings vs low bandwith and tight timings. both gave vry similar results.
