[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes\DefaultColors] delete that whole key (defualtcolors) and it will work fine after that.
-
He is not making it easy because he doesn't want you to use it if you are not a advanced users and if you are not going to report problems and he doesn't want people to use it unless it's for testing purposes only. If you want it easy then wait for the final product with installer.

Q.2. Yes add it if you want to add the values for the custom color swatches, or not, that's your choice. Q.3. Check your registry setting Blur Deviation, it's meant to be BlurDeviation without the space. Q.4. Yes the slider in the personalization menu controls the Color intensity and transparency. Q.5. If you want to have a theme similar to the Windows 7 one then you are best off using a complete custom theme, not just one that will change the explorer frames, here are a couple you could try, http://www.deviantart.com/art/Aero-8-Glow-364494879 by me or this one http://www.deviantart.com/art/Aero-8-350491112 by xXiNightXx

Edit: I am an id***, sorry BM, you are right I installed the wrong one, I made it into a installer and I had it in the same folder as 1.2 and installed that one by mistake, sorry for wasting your time.

a) symbols downloading does not work for explorer stuff (shell32/themecpl) B) Win8.1 version does not install explorer stuff, so you installed anything but not "Aero Glass for Win8.1" Well I have no idea what your trying to tell me, I know that symbols is to make dwm work I was just letting you know the error messages I kept getting, there were a couple of others as well, but at the end of the day the first alpha runs great so I would expect the 2nd alpha to run even better with the required symbols, I just don't see why the this version would have problems with anything I installed, not even sure if that's what your implying though, are you trying to say that there is nothing wrong with this version and it's my setup that's the problem?
-
Sorry mate, doesn't work at all for me, tells me the shell32.dll and themecpl.dll are not compatible and asks me if I want to retry downloading the symbols but it's still no good, just keeps on trying and restarting DWM till it logs off again and starts all over again, uninstalled it now And yes I do have a license and it did download the symbols but they just don't work.

Glad you like it guys, just updated it a bit, I had the default values wrong on the icon spacing and I changed the registry values to the same ones you see in the drop down and what they would be in the old advanced appearance settings.
-
As we all know MS decided we didn't need the advanced appearance settings any longer, but I think I am not the only one when I say FU Microsoft we want it back. So anyway I have been having a little play today and tried to make something to bring a few of those basic settings back, I will keep working on this and maybe add some tabs to it for setting window colors and maybe font size as well. If anyone else wants to add their own bit of code feel free, I am only a noob with any of this stuff, I just used Google allot and figured it out from there. Well I know it doesn't look like much and it probably could have been done a much better way but it works and will do for now. After you apply the changes you will need to log off to take effect, sorry I don't know any way to refresh it other then that. Advanced Appearance Settings.zip

I don't think it can be fixed in the image. Look at the screenshot I made with a rainbow debug overlay (ranging from red on the left to purple on the right in 30° hue increments). In the themeatlas.png it covers an area of 10x8 pixels but only the inner 8x8 pixels are actually used, which is why the red and purple columns aren't visible. You'll notice that the light blue column (hue 210°) is repeated three times by the theme. The problem is that the release preview theme has a two pixels border, a dark outer border with a light inner border. The RTM theme uses a one pixel border while the adjacent inner part is used for filling the window. The borders of normal windows are thin enough that no repetition of the light blue column occurs but the command shell windows show the anomaly of having thicker borders, thus causing the inner border column to be repeated. There is a problem with the System Metrics on Windows 8 and 8.1, I think since MS removed the advanced appearance settings they must have broken it, the system metrics now do not change when a different theme is selected with different Metrics, they are no longer read from the msstyles or from the values in the .theme file, there is one way to force them to update though and that is with the use of Windows Style Builder, this is for creating msstyles themes and when testing a new theme the new metrics are written to the registry and when you stop testing the metrics from the previous theme are written to the registry, doing this fixed the problems with the frames and they displayed correctly. Here are all the system metrics, you can edit the registry yourself or just use the reg file provided, a log off is required to see the changes. If you are using Uxstyle or UltraUxtheme Patcher then you would have been able to use custom themes as well, unless you have enabled it in Aero Glass and your are not using one of the other methods then that would explain it.

I noticed the same thing and also noticed on his site that he never mentioned being able to increase the opacity.

Does Bypass theme signature ned to be set in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM:BypassThemeSignature or is it possible to set it in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM:BypassThemeSignature?

Still working on my Aero Glass Blur Tweaker app but having some problems trying to get the registry setting to change to enable and disable Aero Glass, everything else works good though. Not sure if anyone knows why I am getting this message, I tried it on Windows 7 and it works fine, it's got me stumped. here is a bit of my code, I tried with VB Script as well as Java but it doesn't want to work on Windows 8, I commented out the VB to try the java. Thanks BM, added the new features to my Settings tool, shame the new reflection image is set in the dwmglass.dll and cant be changed in the msstyles, but it's still nice that the option is there to have it New Settings tool
-
Added some more options as well as the new v1.2 additional features.
-
Here is a new version I am working on, everything works so far
-
Yeah well that's why I mentioned that if your going to use another folder, i still use DWM as I found thats the only folder that AGTweaker seems to work in, but I have made a installer anyway that will put everything in the correct folder, I was thinking of maybe adding a few extra options to it though for custom theme resource and bypass theme signature.

Try using the tabs on top option, my bet would be this is a problem with Firefox, maybe even try launching it in compatibility mode for Windows 7, not sure if that would make any difference though but maybe worth a shot, might try it myself.

Aero Glass Tweaker GUI for Win8 v1.3.2
MrGRiM replied to ORelio's topic in Aero Glass For Windows 8+
Sort of all the more reason to update it really, there are still allot of people who will use it anyway and the best thing would be if there was a version that worked only with the correct registry settings, I know allot of people who think that AGTweaker is Aero Glass, most people out there using BM's work don't even know he made it and this has nothing to do with making Aero Glass work lol Besides it still has a couple of useful functions, one being a way to disable glass and being able to set a custom theme resource, I am not sure if these people realize but it still works fine with the latest version of Aero Glass anyway, all that needs to be done is remove all the old settings that are no longer valid. -
Awesome progress mate, Blur Deviation settings work fine, some strange effects when closing a window though, I have my desktop icons at the top of the screen and for some reason when I close the explorer windows I see a ghost image of them at the top of the explorer windows even though the icons and window are no where near each other. Anyway great progress, here is a screen to enjoy P.S. just wanted to add that Theme Signature bypass works as well
-
Nice work mate, the search box acts as it should now, one bug that still bothers me though is the button size on the places list if you change the font size, on the old SIB and on Windows 7 if you change the places list font size the button size still remains the same, on SIB+ though it makes the button smaller, the icon text size in system metrics also seems to have an effect on the size of the button.

OK here is a better vb script that also prompts you to restart explorer to take effect Updated to make the script run as admin and also included a context menu shortcut reg file.
