I was going to suggest that it used Vista Beta's frame that still exists in that location if it didn't. Otherwise I could modify WSB to not remove the frame on save. Alternatively look for an image in: Start Menu > Panels > Basic > Places List > Panels > User Pane which would be the equivalent location to that old Vista property. Also, is there a way to purchase SIB+ as a gift for someone else? I think it would be great if you could just use a png in the user pane location, 32 bit bitmaps are a pain in the a** tbh but it's up to Tihiy what location he uses, if not then yeah if WSB could keep them there when testing or saving, especially for complete themes, that would be nice too.

Yes, it reads 32-bit PARGB BITMAPs, not msstyles parts. I'm confused, you say yes then say not msstyles parts. Yes it is in the msstyles, you need to open the msstyles with Restorator and add the bitmap images after you save it with WSB, if you save it again in WSB the bitmaps are removed again, the bitmap images are named as they are in explorer.exe, would be better if the userframes could be added to the msstyles part Vista Legacy > Start Menu > Basic > UserPicture and use that instead.

OK changed the extended list hovers to the same as the programs list and sent the final version to Tihiy, thanks for the feedback guys, appreciate it.

Do you mean the recently installed hover or do you mean the hover on the extended places list?

That's a shame, I tested with blur deviation set to 0 and the artifacts don't apear but the more blur deviation after 7 the stronger the artifacts in these non blured areas.

I tried a couple of new variations, not much noticable, one has a slightly less blue program list button and less shadow on the user picture frame the 3rd style has desaturated buttons with a slight gradient effect and the user picture frame is desaturated with more highlighted edges and a slight drop shadow, all the styles also had a slight tweak to the search/shutdown area with a lightened border on the box. http://www.mediafire.com/download/ge7ftyi5y5zig79/Aero%208.zip

I'm noticing artifacts with this latest version on the taskbar and start menu where Aero Glass is no longer meant to be active. If I force Aero Glass with Tihiy's SIB+ options then these artifacts are no longer transparent, seems there is a problem with these unglassed areas.

It's just unusal. I see you've tailored color to the gray like default SearchBox does. That makes bottom part of menu 'light' but some other elements seem to remain heavy. I'm just nitpicking ofc.Yes you are correct, I decided that it was a better approach as the grey text is used in the default msstyles that this was a more unified look for the default style, the whole look of the default msstyles has very little bold lines, everything is lighter and the old style looked a bit out of place to me.

Group policy has been updated. Seems a bit too white-ish for me. What others think? Not sure why you think it's too whitish, I didn't change the overall style, it's got just as much white as the old one aside from the places list button and shutdown/logoff buttons, I made those a little lighter.

It works fine, just add a text color to the following Start Menu > Panels > Aero > Top > Programs List > Controls > More Programs Tab Start Menu > Panels > Aero > Top > Programs List > Controls > More Programs Tab > Hot

Congratulations Tyhiy, you have done a tremendous job, I was wondering if it wasn't too late for you to update the start menu style I did for you, I have an updated version of it I released a while ago but it's part of a full msstyles, if you like I can update the lite msstyles you did and email it too you.

Thanks for the update BM, bit sad to see swatches and bypass theme signature gone, I did test using the AppInit_DLLs registry value and the swatches still work but the images don't change, the names and colors were still correct though (would be nice if you can get this working again), as for the other changes well I guess UXstyle is fine with me, I donated to help support that project anyway so might as well use it. Still have taskbar and start menu blur with SIB so no problems there, evrything else still seems to be working fine, caption text glow, aero glass reflection and custom theme atlas all loading and working perfectly. I can see why you have had to remove these things to remove the need for the AppInit_DLLs registry value and to open up a wider usage base without having to alter their systems and reduce security, this was the only way forward I think, so anyway congratulations on getting this far, you have done an amazing job and for me Windows 8 would have remained a complete failure without the likes of Tihiy and yourself.

Something I have just noticed, not sure if it was always this way in SIB+ but there is a hot tracking color property in the start menu so when you hover over an iten the text could change color, this used to work in the old SIB on windows 8 but now it only uses the text color property and hot tracking is ignored, is there a chance we could have that aded back again?

You nee to give it time to load into memory, I have seen this myself somtimes as well, seems sometimes it doesn't always load into memory straight away, I think maybe it's not a schedualed task at startup and requires the iniation to be evoked from first time usage.

That's all good, but I need to be sure all existing styles would work fine. Do you know where can I find a lot of msstyles? Edit: OK, i've tested all styles i could find on deviantArt and those which handled DPI changing survived new scaling algorithm. That's good to hear, I did test a couple I had downloaded as well and they worked fine, it was just my HUD ones mainly I was having the problems with but I have figured out a way to make them work well with the new scaling, one thing I found a bit strange was the extended places list though, with my new HUD themes I had the default panel size the same for extended so it remained the same size but now with the new dpi scaling the extended list still grows, not sure why that is but I managed to find a working solution for that as well.

Are you sure it's not a compat breaker? I'll test more styles if they work OK with new scaling. HUD Evo doesn't work well with either scaling from what I've seen. Yeah I'm pretty happy with it, I am actually in the process of adding different dpi images for 96 120 and 144 and so far I am having lots of joy with it, now I figured out how the content margins affect the dpi scaling I have an even better result.

Updated RC2: not using new scaling for full msstyles. New scaling method scales content rectangle [ ((rectangle-margins)*scale)+margins ] OK I tested it again now with matching margins and I can see how it was meant to work, the way you had it was perfect, sorry for the trouble, you can change it back again.

Thanks for the update Tyhiy, wish you had released this fix for the dpi a bit earlier, been working on my themes the last few days and finally had them working with all the dpi settings but now they are all messed up again lol oh well lets see if I can sort them out again. Edit: Looking at the new dpi scaling I am finding it impossible to fix on some of my themes now, this is because you have changed the scaling for the open box and log off and also the more programs but it does not match the scaling of the open box and logoff, could you please do the same scaling to the more programs as well so it scales exactly the same as the open box?

What is your screen resolution and what reflection image did you use?
