  1. Just wanted to share an easy way to set the blur amount with a vb script, enjoy Const HKEY_CURRENT_USER = &H80000001strComputer = "." Set oReg=GetObject("winmgmts:{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\" & _ strComputer & "\root\default:StdRegProv") strKeyPath = "SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM"strValueName = "BlurDeviation"oReg.GetDWORDValue HKEY_CURRENT_USER,strKeyPath,strValueName,dwValueWscript.Echo "Current Blur Amount: " & dwValue strKeyPath = "SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM"oReg.CreateKey HKEY_CURRENT_USER,strKeyPathstrValueName = "BlurDeviation"dwValue = InputBox("Set Blur amount 10-30 Set 0 to Disable Blur", "")oReg.SetDWORDValue HKEY_CURRENT_USER,strKeyPath,strValueName,dwValueBlurDeviation.vbs.zip
  2. Well it's possible I guess, never had a problem on the VM but maybe it could also be a bad driver that needs updating for 8.1 I never seen that type of BSOD before so I Googled it and found some info.
  3. Thanks for the update BM, this was a feature I really wanted as well from the very start, to have a way of turning Blur off, although I still wouldn't mind having a way to turn off the colorization as well, not that I have checked out this update yet so maybe that's already the case with the blur turned off, thanks for the update anyway mate, I will donate another 12 euro just for this
  4. OK thanks for letting me know guys, good to see it's working on 8 and 8.1
  5. I don't confirm this. Are you using non-standard skin or other theming / shell enhancement programs? But I thought you will remake those themes with the search box? Wasn't it removed to get rid of glass? Some of them I will remake and have already done one a couple of days ago that I thought the search bar looked ok with but tbh I have come to like not seeing it there and I think most of my start menus look much better without them, plus you still get a search menu even if you cant see the bar there, you can still open the start menu and start to type and it will still search, or Ctrl+V to paste something if you need, so I have never missed it anyway. Please if you can anyway, just think of us themers and giving us a bit more of a wow experience with our creativity, you already have hands down the best start menu Windows has ever seen, especially for all of us who like to show our creativity to share with others, plus the start menu was the only thing really that Stardock ever had over us msstyles designers, just amount of flexibility they had there with being able to create a menu with any sort of shape they wanted and even have it fully animated was pretty impressive. Plus I will make it worth your while, I will happily donate $50 if you throw in a few extra nice features for us
  6. It won't be changed. Why is that critical? It's not critical but I thought you were going to work on it after you got everything else working, well that's what you led me to believe anyway, mostly I just wanted it so I could port all my Windows 7 and 8 themes that have the search box removed, I didn't think it was a big ask nor did I think it would effect any of the themes that would have the search box, all themes have that default pane size set so it's not like it will break anything by enabling it the way it should be. Here is an example of one of my start menus with the open box removed and how it looks on SIB+
  7. Updateed to v1.6 New safety options to check the shell32.dll has still got the Digital Signature in Properties and if not you can restore the shell32.dll instead of rebooting and getting a blue screen. Patching success rate is also 100% better now. Tested on Windows 8.1 Pro x64 with Media Center. Download form Mediafire here http://www.mediafire.com/download/r5q7vdp85ka59yg/Shell32_Patch_Setup_v1.6.exe
  8. Still no love for me getting that default pane size working on the open box
  9. It may or may not work at all on any version, best to set up a VM and test it, I still don't have a 100% success rate at applying this patch, it only works when the digital signature is not removed from the shell32.dll and this doesn't seem to always work, to be honest I am not sure how it manages to keep the digital signature at all, but on 8.1 this is required or it will blue screen.
  10. Sorry to hear that, what build are you using?
  11. I have it installed on the RTM build 9600 Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center x64
  12. Shell32 Details Pane Mod for Windows 8.1 Simple installer to bring back the Details Pane, it contains 4 Respatcher files that will patch your shell32.dll UI files to bring back the Windows 7 style Details pane at the bottom, it also has options to have the details pane at the top, also know as Topshell and it can put the Folderband at the bottom. Note: To view the Folder band you will need to disable the ribbon. The installer should take about 10 seconds to patch the shell32.dll and then it will ask you to do a restart to complete the changes. There is also the option to have themeable Control Panel Navigation Panes, this option requires you are using one of my themes that contains these extra images in the msstyles. This mod has now become obsolete please use OldNewExplorer instead, it's much safer and doesn't alter any system files http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/170375-oldnewexplorer-make-your-81-explorer-work-like-win78-one/ Very Important!! Always Create a Backup or System Restore before making changes to System Files. This is still an experimental mod and you use it at your own risk, please do not complain to me if it does not work or causes damage to your Operating System
  13. Yeah, nothing. If it was an upgrade install then try removing it and then installing it again, I had the same problem after I did a upgrade install on the 8.1 RTM leaked install.wim I managed to get the wim to install with many problems then just refreshed it again when the untouched ISO's were released, I don't know if it will help at all though, maybe even try Revo Uninstaller and make sure everything is removed and try again, also not sure if it makes any difference but I always select the install for everyone option.
  14. I noticed that if you use the installer there is no symsrv.yes file, is this file still needed, you have included it with the manual install files? Also I noticed the dwmglass.dll size is different to the original ones you gave to donators, the new one is 708KB and the old one was 700KB are you sure there is no difference we need to care about?
  15. Of course, you are right. It is even better to use version 0.1. It is same - just recompiled. Only installer has changed to apply some ideas from testers (and I hope I didn't forget for anything :-)) OK that's good, not tested the new installer yet but in the old one I thought it might be a problem uninstalling if the user is using the theme signature bypass, on my installer I have it restore the default theme before it asks for a restart, does your installer do this now as well?
  16. Glad the wait is over, is there any changes from the installer given to testers, do we need to download it again?
  17. No issues here mate, all works perfectly fine as far as I can see aside from the issue I have already mentioned with the default pane sizes for search and log off,
  18. I sent my Machine code for my VM and a physical machine and got activation codes for both, I also PM'd BM and asked if it would be OK to use the final version on my sisters new Windows 8 PC but had no reply but I don't think he minds how many of our own machines or friends we install it on, I also expect this method of activation will not be final for the finished product as each machine code needs to be checked by BM before he sends you a activation code.
  19. Any update news on how things are going with the 8.1 implementation BM, do you intend on adding similar features as the 8 version, like bypass theme signature, rounded corners and so on?
  20. I think he is still working on completing the x86 version and probably the installer, just be patient I am sure it will not be too long, I have the final version already and I know as a donator I got it early but I don't want that to be a reason for not letting everyone receive it when it's complete although I am very grateful.
  21. How can you see blur without transparency? you can only see blur if there is transparency.
  22. Hi BM I donated 10 euro on the 11 of July (Unique Transaction ID 7FE05626J4420034Y), could you send me a gift please
  23. Nice to see all the extra options for the start menu, I am sure this will be useful for some, I think the default items should pretty much remain as they are and just leave the rest as user configurable, I am still waiting for the ability to have different default pane sizes for the log off and search areas though, have you made any progress in that area or have you decided not to change that now, there was also the default pane size for the search results window as well not being read from the msstyles.
