Hey BM is it possible to implement your bypass theme signature as a stand alone app, I think that on it's own would be a great little tool and it also works with 8.1 and would be great for testing new themes.

I have just had a look if this update was installed on my live test machine and it's not there and I have installed all the windows updates that have been available through Windows Update, how are you guys getting your updates, I ask because I Googled that particular update http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=39544 and it says that it's meant to fix a security problem with IE8 on Windows XP SP3 which would explain why I don't have it installed on Windows 8. Sorry just expanded my search a little and I found that the update was also for Vista and Windows 8 http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39567, now I wonder why I didn't have that update though.

I was going to donate last week but he has it set in Eur and not USD.. I would prefer to pay in USD as well but I still made a 10 Euro donation a while back and I don't even use Windows 8 other then for testing on the VM, I'm still very happy with my Windows 7 setup

You do realize that exact argument was one of the arguments used by microsoft to justify the start screen... do you? ^^ Anyway, it is a positioning bug since in horizontal taskbar placement the startmenu does not overlay the taskbar. Only in vertical ones. It also looks fairly ugly from the design standpoint. edit: just look at this comparison. Personally, it looks more neat the way I'd like to have it. Since tihiy is not bound by Microsoft's code anymore, we might as well do that, unless he doesn't want to bother. @tihiy, thanks for fixing the order of the shutdown options btw :] I agree from a design standpoint but in the first post you mentioned it as a bug, which it isn't, but I think your correct, it does look much nicer along side the taskbar and if Tihiy can do that with a fair amount of ease then yeah I say go for it.

I didn't see it as a bug on Windows 7 and still don't, what would be the point in having it aligned along side the taskbar, it's not like you need to use the taskbar when you have the start menu open and nor can you anyway, can you give an example how this would be beneficial at all?

Not sure why you would have a problem with the swatches, unless you have some other registry settings from a previous version, I have tested this installer on the VM multiple times as well as a live test machine I have just set up and the installer has worked perfectly, one thing you could try I guess is to download the original files for Aero Glass and apply the Swatches registry file and see if that makes any difference. Sorry just read your post again and you said you have also used AGTweaker to modify the colors, this may be the problem if that's the case, I don't think AGTweaker should be used for anything other then setting a custom theme resource and changing the window corners to square or round, leave the personalize settings alone, pretty much all of those other settings are legacy and no longer function as expected in the latest version of Aero Glass, the colors should only be changed in your Windows Color & Appearance settings, this was the whole idea of adding the new swatches, to provide colors that are better suited to the glass effect. I think you are going to have to a bit of a search through your registry and remove any custom registry settings made by this and any other versions of AGTweaker or you will continue to have problems, this is the only problem with AGTweaker, it adds all these registry settings but there is no easy way to remove them and I think it may be best if I just completely remove AGTweaker from my installer.

Yep pretty much what you said on the first line, just wanted to make an easy way for anyone to install this to get the largest test ordinance, it's just like everyone who installed the 8.1 preview that is meant to be for IT professionals only, I am sure that 99% of the people using it are not, but at the end of the day, surely it's better to have as many people testing the RC so Big Muscle knows for sure the final version will have no major problems, just because the "non-technical" users cant understand how to add a few registry setting or understand how it works, doesn't mean they cant still provide important and constructive feedback.

Yep sure is mate, I thought it was strange that the message box sometimes didn't show for a very long period of time, anyway it has never bothered me, I did add the option in the RC3 installer to disable glass but I took it out of the RC4 installer and also though about removing AGTweaker but it served a function purpose to change the theme resource, but that is all, mainly I just wanted to create a fool proof installer so you didn't get constant people complaining that they couldn't get it to work and to get a larger test ordiance to report any problems.

It would have to be Windows 7, the explorer windows don't look like that in Windows 8, the part behind the address bar and navigation buttons can not be aero glass and also there is no up arrow next to the nav buttons.

It should but probably best to remove the old version first before using the installer, if you set it up manually before in C:\DWM the installer will move the old dwmglass.dll to the temp folder for deletion on restart and place the new one in there. but to be safe I would still recommend removing any previous versions completely including any registry entries you may have added, but really unless you need to test this build then it's probably better to just wait for Big Muscles final version he is going to release shortly.

Pretty good mate, had a little test and noticed a couple of problems, the :search programs and Files" text still doesn't show the first time you click on the start button, well it does but then it disappears a moment later, second time it will stay there though. The other is if you have a custom theme with the Taskbar height set smaller, the start menu button wont show and even hitting the windows key wont open the start menu so it is completely disabled, the Taskbar height only needs to be altered by 2 pixels to notice this problem, I testing using my Vista8ModernMix theme and the Taskbar Height was set to 29px height which is 11px smaller then default, about the same size as the small icon view in taskbar options, also tested using small icons with the same Taskbar height and it works fine using small icons. Also tested having the Taskbar show on the Start Screen and it seems to work intermittently, every 2nd time you go to the start screen it will show.

Yeah I agree, I would not want anyone to try this on a machine with anything important on it they were not prepared to loose, that's why I do all my testing on a VM, TBH I was just bored after installing 8.1 and wanted to have a play with something lol

Well I installed 8.1 and I can see a few improvements but sadly it has broken pretty much all the types of Customization we had for 8, but I did just try the latest Test 5 build on there with some semi success Most of the options are not working and some are missing, the shutdown button is gone, settings dont save the next time you open the properties, many bugs to be fixed but at least there is still hope, lets just hope BM can also find a way to bring back aero glass on 8.1 as well.

Found some more bugs in the latest version test 3. The search programs text doesn't show when you first click on the start button and the default programs also doesn't show sometimes, if you select another start menu style and apply it, then open the start menu it is not shown, click on the start menu again and it will show, this is the same as the "search programs and files" text but every time you take focus away from the start menu the text seems to be gone next time you open the start menu. I see you never mentioned this as a fix but I noticed in Test 2 the separator line in the places list wasn't shown correctly, Test 3 seems to have fixed that though. Administrative tools setting still not working though, nor is the start menu closing as expected when clicking on the start button a second time unless you click to the far left of the button for some weird reason. Another thing I noticed is one of the hover states is missing in the programs list item split button left, when you have a split button and the extended list opens the button changes states but as you move the cursor over to the arrow button (split button Right) the left side should change to a non focused state again. Oh and might as well mention this as well, on the search results the "see more results" button "clickable area" does not stretch the entire width of the start menu as it does in the native menu and as it did in the old SIB, and one other thing with that button, the image it uses there seems to be the wrong one, you are using the hot image and you should be using the hot selected image. Your using: Explorer & Shell > Explorer > ListView > ListItem > Hot Should be: Explorer & Shell > Explorer > ListView > ListItem > HotSelected Just to clarify what I mean with the more results button, if you move your cursor to the left side the button will highlight but if you move the cursor over to the right it doesn't, the button should be active no matter what side you have your cursor.
