Aero Glass Cofigurator For Windows 8.1
MrGRiM replied to MrGRiM's topic in Aero Glass For Windows 8+
2 New styles added and sound removed. As for the cancel button, well tbh I could not figure out how to change it from putting a value of -2147483647 I have no idea where this value comes from but that's what it does, the only way round that I could find was to have a fall back value so if nothing was entered or if you hit cancel it reverted to a default value. -
If you are having problems figuring out the rounded corners you can use my tool here http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/170384-aero-glass-cofigurator-for-windows-81/ It's the 2nd setting "Radius of Windows Corners", set it to 12 for rounded corners or 0/clear for default square corners. Thanks for the tip GRiM.. I set it to 12 and that did the trick, btw what registry setting does that use? DPNo worries, the setting is HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM RoundRectRadius

Aero Glass Cofigurator For Windows 8.1
MrGRiM replied to MrGRiM's topic in Aero Glass For Windows 8+
Updated to version 2.0 for Aero Glass RC1 with Text Glow Mode -
You have to add your own reflection image via the registry setting.
-
Awesome update BM, love the new text glow options, I like option 2 and 3 both of those work really well, tested on x64 and x86 both working great so far.
-
It's a nice theme but I hope these are just for your personal use unless you have got permission from the author to port it to Windows 8
-
Yeah it is meant for it, it works like that in Windows 7 and in Windows 8, 8.1 is the first one to stop working, it's almost as if they did it just to annoy us after finding out you brought back aero glass, here is an example of how it works using the opacity setting. And here is where you set those values, there are also separate values again for maximized windows. Windows & Caption Buttons > Aero > DWM Window > Frames > Window > Top > Active Windows & Caption Buttons > Aero > DWM Window > Frames > Window > Top > Inactive There is also the Colorization Opacity setting there to determine the amount of color will be applied for active and inactive windows.
-
OK thanks for clearing that up, one thing though, there are settings in the theme for the opacity of the glow image, this opacity can be set for active and inactive windows, I think this is why I thought the glow looked perfect at first, because I think that it's only being set at 100% and ignoring the theme value, it should be set at 80% for active and 60% for inactive windows if it was reading my theme settings. So is there a way we could have the opacity correctly applied from the theme settings or have you done it this way because the default windows 8 theme has those values set much lower? I can see the default aero theme values have been set to 50% opacity for active and 20% opacity for inactive, if that's the problem and why you are using a preset value of 100% then maybe you could make this configurable with a registry setting or otherwise let it read the correct theme opacity values.

Thanks for the Update BM, just a couple of things I have noticed so far. If you look at the image you can see after windows first starts up and the command window appears the glow on the caption looks really nice, exactly how it is meant to look. You then see the explorer window loaded after that above it, now for some reason the glow is much stronger like it is ignoring the theme settings or has rendered the glow multiple times. You then see the command prompt window again after it was minimized and restored and you can now see the glow on that window is doing the same thing. Edit: "Another thing I noticed is the blur, I have the blur set to your default, so no setting at all, and what I have noticed is the blur amount seems allot stronger then the previous build, I would say too strong, so not sure what you have done to this build but the effects seem to be on overkill." Just had a look at one of the older builds and I guess the blur looks about the same, so nothing new there, don't know why it just seemed stronger, maybe it's just Windows 8.1
-
Yeah well go find it then, stop being so demanding.

This is the one from Vista http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/163570-aero-glass-for-win81-rtm-beta-4/page-7#entry1055001 it's pretty much the same as 7 but Windows 7 blurred it a bit more.
-
Did you set the image path to the reflection image in the registry as well?
-
Multimon feedback welcomed. Nice update Tihiy, I see one in particular "Fixed: rapidly changing theme crash" I have been having that a fair amount but never thought it was SIB, so thanks for this fix

Aero Glass Cofigurator For Windows 8.1
MrGRiM replied to MrGRiM's topic in Aero Glass For Windows 8+
It is compatible with Windows 8.1 only as was stated in the thread title, it has been updated for the current BETA 4 version but will also work on all older builds, the only difference is the registry settings for the theme atlas as that setting wasn't needed on previous builds, also the reflection registry settings were not needed either as the reflection image was integrated with the DWMGlass.dllIf future changes are made to Aero Glass that will mean changes to registry values then I will then release an updated version of the configurator and specify what version it works best on. There is nothing complicated about this configurator, so please don't overcomplicate things, I am not a programer and this tool is nothing more then a simple script, as I have already mentioned, this was the first time I have even made a HTA script, I used Google to teach me how, if you want to make your own version then feel free. Main HTA scrip below -
That's not a bug with this program, it happens without using this as well, if you use the registry trick to remove those folders the same thing happens, it goes after you close the folder again anyway.

I also had explorer restart a few times recently but not sure if it's anything related to Aero Glass, here is the last error report. Aero Glass Cofigurator For Windows 8.1
MrGRiM replied to MrGRiM's topic in Aero Glass For Windows 8+
If you want to know what the settings do then have a look at the official guide where I got all the registry settings from http://glass8.berlios.de/guide.html As for having a slider, I have specified the values range and the recommended values, as far as I know HTA scripts don't support having a slider, I am not sure on that though, this was the first time I have ever made one, I just Googled everything I was trying to do, it was all just trial and error to get it where it is, it's totally Open Source though so if you want to alter it and maybe enhance it then be my guest, I mainly just made this tool for myself and thought others may find it handy. -
Aero Glass Cofigurator For Windows 8.1
MrGRiM replied to MrGRiM's topic in Aero Glass For Windows 8+
Stop being so childish, how old are you 12? Please give an example of my tool causing anyone a problem, this is just a simple UI to set registry settings, all the values also have a clear button to remove any of the added values, it's the safest option I have seen anywhere and the easiest to use. -

BlurDeviation DWORD Standard deviation for Gaussian blur, default = 30 (which means σ = 3.0) Value 0 results in non-blurred transparency. http://glass8.berlios.de/guide.html Here is a tool I made to set up Aero Glass instead of having to create Registry Settings manually. http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/170384-aero-glass-cofigurator-for-windows-81/

Themers, A Question: How to Darken the Scroll Bar Thumbs?
MrGRiM replied to NoelC's topic in Visual Styles
The thumb button for aero is part of the msstyles and is not a color property, they are images, if you want to change the color then you will need to edit the images, the only problem is that it will then remove the signature on the aero theme. To save you the problem I made one with darker thumb buttons, it was not as easy as I thought but I did it without damaging the original Theme Atlas, this means you can still use your custom Theme Atlas with Aero Glass. To use this theme you will need to enable the theme signature bypass on aero glass. http://www.mediafire.com/download/0yyxuubwjbgv6of/Aero2.zip -
Same here, I would report something if I had something to report, rock solid for me so far, only problem I see is the glow on the caption text, not an issue for me as most of my themes don't use it anyway.
