  1. All I get when trying to launch this is EnableBlur.exe has stopped working.
  2. Define 'good'. Works here on x86 http://www.startisback.com/StartIsBackPlus_setupBETA.exe I updated my x64 8.1 VM to 10 and already had it installed but it didn't work, I could open the settings panel but no start menu. OK just tested the version you posted and it is working on X64 pretty good, what have you noticed so far that doesn't work aside from some of the additional options for the charms bar and hot corners?
  3. Nope working fine here with all the latest updates installed
  4. Yes you can change the user picture by adding the bitmap image using a resource hacker like Restorator, just make sure you are using a proper 32bit bitmap image and name it 7013, you can also add the bitmaps for other dpi settings, image 7014, 7015 and 7016
  5. That is a problem with the theme, not ONE, I am the original author of that theme HUD Launch for Windows 7 but I have not released the ported theme on Windows 8 so this is an unsupported port, this is not a problems with my Windows 8 themes, they all work perfectly now with this new update, thanks Tihiy
  6. I hate to ask, since I know it'd (probably) be more work than it's worth, but could you backport this to 7 (or at least just the ShellStyle.dll UIFILE loading)? ONE on 8/8.1 is amazing, but I'm stuck using 7 since 8/8.1 performs poorly with games on my early-2011 laptop. I'm confused. If the purpose of ONE is to make Win8.x explorer like the Win7 explorer, and you are "stuck using 7", ie you are already using Win7 explorer, then why would you need ONE backported to Win7? Cheers and Regards The greatest part of OldNewExplorer is it's ability to alter all system dll UI Files from within the shellstyle.dll, this means you can completely change UI elements when selecting a custom theme from the personalization menu, at the moment on windows 7 this can only be achieved by patching individual system files and those changes can be undone at any time after a windows update, not to mention that these changes to system files would have to be performed every time you wanted to change your theme and can lead to serious problems resulting in users needing to reinstall windows.
  7. Not sure when this problem started but I don't have the more results link displayed any longer under the search results, can any one else confirm this? Sorry ignore this post I found out why, I had deselected search public folders, it works fine now.
  8. I hate to admit it but I am converted to Windows 8.1 and I feel very comfortable with it after a little bit of tweaking, namely, OldNewExplorer, StartIsBack and Aero Glass, I still love Windows 7 and and 8 doesn't bring anything new that I really care about, modern apps are a bit of fun but I rarely visit the modern apps start screen, I think the only real improvements for me would be slightly better boot times, less RAM usage and I guess it feels a little quicker.
  9. Fully agree, it would be awesome to have this for 7, I would much prefer users never needing to modify system files for the sake of modifying a UI file.
  10. If that's how the new start menu will look then I think I will stick with SIB+, I have learned to like the best of both worlds, the modern interface and programs have their place and can be fun, but at the end of the day when there is real work to be done you want to remove it from view and use a real desktop experience that only SIB can provide, this mix of live tiles on the start menu looks terrible and cluttered and the idea of windowed modern apps seems to just defeat the purpose of the original goal to have a fully immersive experience, personally I was really starting enjoy 8.1 just as it is with aero glass, SIB and OldNewExplorer, for me this was the best we were ever going to get from windows 8.
  11. So you mean it is expected to not be able to open the start menu other then pressing the windows key, if this is expected then why when using a custom start button are you able to have the start button enabled to open the start menu and in the far left you can still access the default start button to open the start screen, I would expect the same behavior if selecting the default start button image, also I notice that when it is enabled that way you can not click the start button a second time to return t the desktop, you have to move the mouse off the start button and then move it back again to click it a second time.
  12. found a bug, when using the default start button and using "enable bottom-left screen corner (start screen button)" the start menu button is disabled and only the start screen button is active
  13. Hi Tihiy, I have a little problem that has bugged me for a long time now and wondered if there was anything you can do to fix it, when there is a pending windows update there is a little shield icon that appears on the shutdown button in the start menu, now in Windows 8 this shield was treated like an overlay and did not displace any content in the shutdown button but in SIB+ the icon displaces the content and this causes issues with some of my themes and and pushes the logofff button out of the start menu, is there any chance you could take it back to being just an overlay as it was in Windows 8, it would be greatly appreciated.
  14. adding glow behind text in jumplist will also add glow in the second column of start menu, can you do something about it? This works exactly the same in Windows 7, there is no separate property to where glow can be added without effecting the other.
  15. You don't have to install every update available, if that was the case then MS wouldn't give you the option to be notified and select the updates you want installed in the first place, you can still install all the other rollups, security patches and so on without the need for this "feature pack" that just changes the features I liked anyway, some people I know never install Windows updates and none of them have ever had any problems with their PC's, if it does come to a point where my OS is broken because I haven't installed this update then yeah I might consider it essential, but at the end of the day this is MY PC and I will use it the way I want and if you think that's "stupid" well that's your problem.
  16. I have noticed all those changes and I don't care for any of them. 1. I have StartIsBack, don't need power on the start screen. 2. I hate this new implementation, I thought it was great just being able to right click on multiple pinned apps and then choose your action from the bar that appeared at the bottom, I can still do that by pressing space bar first but right click context menu is useless to me. 3. The new bar at the top just gets in the way, with the close threshold tweaks from Winaero http://winaero.com/comment.php?comment.news.218 it was very easy and intuitive using the mouse to pull apps down to close or sideways to split screens. 4. Never something I wanted, I prefer to have them hidden to the left and out of sight when on the desktop, who wants those ugly icons on the taskbar, first thing I did after the update on my VM was disable it. 5. I have a context menu link to the control panel on the desktop already so don't need it. 6. I have StartIsBack which already does a better job of this and has been one of the included features since it first appeared. 7, The only thing that I am missing and not bothered one bit and could never see myself using anyway. "There are plenty more under the hood changes as well like smaller system requirements, better memory management, etc." I have a plenty powerful Rig with 16GB of RAM, unless your upgrading some old outdated XP machine then who gives a crap about some miniscule improvement in memory management. So, yeah. I will Go ahead and "skip" it, the rest of you can move on with eating your MS diarrhea thinking your making your OS faster, more reliable, and secure. As for "Unless you've actually used it, stay silent" everyone is entitled to their opinion and this is mine so live with it.
  17. Yes, and it never will. I will not fix it. That's unfortunate, because once update 1 is released officially it will be essentially a requirement to have installed I don't think there is much new or exciting about this update, I am considering skipping it tbh, the only new thing it does worth mentioning is add the ability to pin store apps to the taskbar, doesn't seem a big deal to me as I hardly ever use them and if I have opened apps I am fine with then being listed on the left hand side out of sight. The only other big change with this update is updated support for Ultra HD monitors and I don't see myself being able to afford one of those for a few years yet.
  18. Lol nah It's not off topic, I noticed it too. Looks like Microsoft messed around with certain system resources again.... god it grinds my gears when they mess with the coding while updating their Windows OS. However, Aero Glass Alpha 1 somehow works in Update 1. Add a fill color to Lists, Menus, & Tabs > Menu > PopUpBackground and make sure you an Opaque image in Lists, Menus, & Tabs > Menu > PopUpItem and the context menu will work.
  19. I decided to give this leaked Windows update a try and see what results I could get, I wondered if any of the early aero glass builds may still work, especially the ones that were meant to download new MS symbols if a Windows update broke compatibility, sadly none of the early builds that required symbols worked or even attempted to download any symbols, so maybe they are not available yet, who knows, anyway I did find one version that did work and it was the first Alpha build, although this build does contain allot of artifacts but if you are not patient enough to wait for an updated version and still want to have glass then it may be one to consider.
  20. Has anyone else noticed when using the option to "enable glass on navigation bar" when you close a window the navigation buttons and address bar disappear just before the window closes? @Tihiy I was just wondering why all of the dll UI files that I add to my shellstyle.dll work aside from the gameux.dll UI files, is there a chance this can be fixed or is it something outside the scope of normal explorer that is stopping those changes from taking effect?
  21. the only new feature is the caption text color so don't think it's worth updating for that.
