Has anyone been able to patch the theme .dll files in 8.1 or use a custom visual style?

Don't work, every time you reload or enable and disable aero the "AppInit_DLLs" string value goes back to default DWM.dll..So you lose all the settings to your path and your back where you started..

What happens when you run this script? Admin_Checker.cmd

Does anyone have any 8.1 wallpaper that they can share??

On my Unattended installs I always use a "Autounattend.xml" file and setup the computer as the Default Administrator, under the OOBE section, that way you always have full rights and avoid the run as admin problems..I have a batch file where you can toggle your connection on/off, if you want I can post it for you..DP

Because of all the requests, I am updating my VistaSe7en Aero Theme which includes a lot of bonus software and easy installer, should have something by end of the week or first part of next week, In meantime xXiNightXx has a great Aero theme and Vista theme posted on here with the rounded corners similar to my screen shot, then you can just update the desktop icons etc. DP There is a TON of gorgeous work shown in this thread, but this is my favorite (so far)! (For the reason, just check what I have as my OS over on the left...) It seems to complete the beautiful theme xXiNightXx created. Please do post the file and instructions. Maybe you can list everything that the image that we see above involves in terms of OS tweaks? Also, would this theme work on a Windows 7 machine? Thanks very much. --JorgeA

Thanks glad you like it..It's a variation of MrGrim's theme (http://www.msfn.org/...-8/page__st__20) that I modded (part Vista and 7 calling it VistaSe7en) over a month ago for personal use, just haven't made it public as of yet..DP

Perhaps when AeroGlass goes live and a installer is created, exceptions for virus, firewall etc can be added ..but in meantime you can just copy your exception from the registry once created and add it as you install Aero Glass next time..DP

Yep the DWMhook method is a lot more work but totally worth it! Stardock just took the easy way out with WB, not worth the $10 bucks and all the daily spam mail you get with it.Thanks for doing it right Bigmuscle!..DP

Was looking for a easier way to toggle DWM Aero On and Off quickly so I wrote this little batch file, just run it from your desktop when you need a quick way to disable aero (like playing games, and for all the whinners with the popups etc.) and when done you can just rerun to turn aero back on again, It Works off *DWM directory in C drive but you can always revise the path as needed..
