As jaclaz says you must install the older OS first when you install multiple Windows versions for multiboot, so much I know.

maybe %temp%\system\upd.exe switches (e.g. %temp%\system\upd.exe /s=1 /o=2 /u=u or whatever syntax the WinRAR commands require)? You save it as a .bat or .cmd file and add its path to HKLM/Software/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run registry key.

Perhaps their manufacturers didn't have old CPUs in mind.

Yes but the VM's kernel memory must be protected too (that's why VMware, VirtualBox etc. are releasing patches or patched versions - and you must patch the guest OS too of course).

I'm on Windows 8, thanks for pointing to the utility anyways!

TeamViewer is the classic one (I haven't personally used it or any other program of this kind but I have seen others using it).

It doesn't seem probable that the stick's size make the difference, are you sure that the drivers installing mechanism is the same between the two sticks?

The first think to check is your mouse, can you check what happens with another one?

For XP SP3 even 20 GBs are more than enough.

I don't say that I trust Google but at least they don't spy at you in front of your eyes.

For Windows 8 I just use 60 GB for the OS partition and the basic programs and it still has plenty of free space. I have the rest of my stuff on other partitions. I think this is the best practice, especially when it comes to imaging the OS partition for backup purposes.

For color management there is a very helpful utility (for me at least), QuickGama. You can find it here: https://quickgamma.de

Never believe it. Microsoft tries to mimic Google in the user side of managing the data it collects but until they give up the "telemetry" stuff I can take an oath that they are just fooling their clients (after spying them first).

Defragmentation of FAT/FAT32 drives is inherently slow, much more if they are so large. If you want (much) better performance convert the disk to NTFS (you can do it with the "convert" command).

Sorry if I caused confusion, I'm here to answer your questions. Link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17621/internet-explorer-downloads If you select Windows 8/8.1 it says that there is no IE 11 for Windows 8, if you select Windows 7 you can download IE 11 for Windows 7. File: EIE11_EL-GR_WOL_WIN764.EXE (the greek version), version 11.0.0.7, size 57,2 MB. Here I must make a confession. Until now I haven't installed IE 11 (I preferred to stay with IE 10 for the moment). I have started the installation to check If it installs but I haven't finished it. Today I did a complete installation to check what happens. It installs alright (at least so it says), reaches the point where it says "You have installed Internet Explorer 11. You must restart your computer etc.", I restart and I still have IE 10! I haven't seen anything like that before. I submit the contents of the IE11_main.log file in Windows folder: I tried several times and this is always the output. If anybody can understand what goes on and tell me too it will be appreciated!

HarryTri replied to rcrrich's topic in Windows 10
As far as I know if there are spaces in a command line then you must use initials. Try "echo 64 bit system" (with the initials).- 9 replies

If you go to the Microsoft's page for Internet Explorer downloads you will see that there is stated that there is no IE 11 for Windows 8. This is not quite true since some time ago there was an IE 11 version for Windows 8. I have downloaded it at the time and in fact it is the IE 11.0.0.7 version for Windows 7. If you go to that page and choose to download the IE 11 for Windows 7 you will get the same file which you can normally install and use on Windows 8.

If you have a look into the WinSxS folder (at least on Windows 8 that I have) you will see names beginning with "amd64-" instead of "x64-". The fact is that AMD was the first to release processors of the x64 type (the Intel Itanium - IA 64 - was released before them but it is another thing) and the "amd64" terminology remained in some extend.

Are you sure that this is all? If yes, then you shouldn't... When you know that someone spies you then just don't trust him. Do what you can to prevent him from spying you but never be sure that this is all.

I don't know how many are informed about the KRACK vulnerability of WPA/WPA2. Have a look here: https://www.cnet.com/how-to/krack-affects-everyone-heres-what-to-do-now/ Microsoft October security patches for Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 are addressing this issue. For Windows 8 I used the Windows 8 embedded October security patch (which must be the same for the Windows Server 2012 one, at least they are reported to have the same size in the Microsoft Update Catalog).

Maybe out of topic but I think that the PCs' connection we are talking about is more accurately described as "ad hoc" connection.

Is there any way to play YouTube offline (.exo) on Windows without Android?
HarryTri replied to Dibya's topic in Windows XP
In the Adobe Flash Player era YouTube's videos were FLV ones. Does anyone know what they are now (in their original form)? I have the impression that they are MP4 but I'm not sure at all. -
