Hi Jumper, I have tested SM 2.6.1. but it is slower than 2.0.14 and I can unfortunately not tolerate the history/bookmark issue. Back then I also tried 2.9.1 with your suggestions but it hang after a few seconds and I noticed that bookmarks did not show up either so I did not wanted to bother you with it. Sorry that I did not replied back then. Also sorry, for my somewhat bad English but what I would like to say is that it may be possible to change the source code for SeaMonkey 2.1. so that history/bookmarks may be working even compiled with the new gecko engine. I mean they surely did not wasted any thoughts on Win98SE back then. Or is that to unlikely ??

Hi Ironman14, a few weeks ago Jumper wrote that SeaMonkey 2.6.1 is the latest version that would work with Kex 4.5.2. But maybe I misunderstood him. However, do you think it would be possible if you might get in touch with the developers of FF/Seamonkey and ask what was changed between Seamonkey 2.0.14. and 2.1 - same with FF. Maybe the bookmark/history problem is not soooo hard to fix ?

Hi Jumper, I just repeated the process and VLC started after I have UPX'ed (in alphabetical order) the plugin folder: video output. Unfortunately I think that doesn't help much because after that there is only one plugin left - visualisation - containing only three dll's. I also made a quick test by upx'ing only video_chroma, video_filter and video_output but that didn't worked. So it may indeed be necessary to process all plugin dll's.

Simply amazing - thanks Loblo !!!!! DougB, vlc works here too. But did you also received an 'error' message from UPX on some of the dll's ?? Just to make sure that I did everything 'completely' right.

I think EVR-Sync offers more options to adjust the frame rates of the source material and the monitor !! When I start mpc-hc on my system it always complains that the directX from June 2010 is not installed. So I downloaded it but after changing the comp-mode of the setup.exe and the setup.dlls to winXP it still does not install because some cabs are considered trustunworthy, or something like that. So I thought about your method to individually install the dll's in question. I opened the d3dx9_43 cab and within there is an inf for 'Chicago' but the are no entries for Win98SE or ME in it. Maybe you have an idea how to get these files installed ?

@ Loblo & Jumper, could you look into fully registering d3dx9_43.dll ? Or is it maybe possible to install directx 9.29 ? Thx, MiKl

This would be cool but I would also suggest that an update of KernelEx would be preferable because it might help running (much) more programs in one step !! Including more up-to-date browsers, etc. Updating from SeaMonkey 2.0.14 to 2.6.1 would make me very happy. Maybe you could ask Xeno how to fix the history/bookmark problem ? Or supporting apps compiled with new gcc's like VLC 2.1.3 ?

There may be no new files to add to the service pack any more but I think you could now work on Kext !! With your great care for details you and Jumper may find ways to make (modern) apps work.

Hi Loblo and Jumper ! System 1: Intel P4 (SSE3), ICH5, Nvidia GeForce 6600. But only EVR is working. Both EVR CP and EVR Snyc. crashes MediaPlayerClassic Home-Cinema (1.5.0.2827) ---> After deinstalling MPC-HC and installing 1.5.1.2903 EVR CP is working ! EVR Sync, crashed the whole OS right now. System 2: AMD Athlon 2400+, VIA KT400A, Nvidia GeForce 6200. Here both EVR and EVR CP work but only with MPC-HC 1.5.0.2827 !! 1.5.1.2903 crashes the OS. @ Jumper. Unfortunately I did not find evr.dll 6.0.6001.17014. Could you please upload it ?

No problem, Drugwash !! I would love to update Seamonkey from 2.0.14 to 2.6.1 but the missing bookmarks, history, etc. are driving me crazy. Maybe you can contact Jumper and ask him if he might be interested to take over ?

I think I found a way with the above mpc-hc without installing/using external filters. Please test: - Audio renderer: Default DirectSound Device (Other renderers might work too) - Load the flac file - Right click -> filters -> ffdshow audio decoder -> click Properties - There is an option called 're-sample'. Activate it and set it to 96kHz. But, of course, recent versions of ffdshow may allow even higher re-samplings.

Same here - but only on my Intel-chipset/Envy24 soundcard PC !! Still no sound on the VIA-chipset/VIA-Realtek-AC97 system. This may be because the latest AC97-driver (A4.06) does not work there (yellow exclamation mark) !! Follow up: The workaround that Nomen mentioned below - keeping 2.0.8. installed but playing the file with 2.1.1. portable works !!

Indeed no sound with VLC 2.1.1 (portable) !! MediaPlayerClassic Home Cinema (1.5.1.2903) plays the file but sound is very bad - sounds almost like a mono recording from the 1930s !! So it may indeed be something more 98se related than a player 'issue'.

No audio problems with float32 enabled on my systems but I do not like 2.1.0 at all. As soon as I experimented a little bit with codecs and settings that version always crashed - even on XP !! I didn't even count how many crash reports were sent. So I kept the browser plug-in and went back to 2.0.8. Hopefully the next build will be better.

usbccgp.sys 5.1.2600.6437 seem to working perfectly here at my KT4AV. Will test ICH5 system later today !! Follow up. Also O.K. on my ICH5 PC. Thanks !!
