  1. Should've been more clear I patch uxtheme from my admin account but when changing to my lua it then crashes on logon. Anyway found another patch that works.
  2. This works fine for my admin account but my limited user account crashes explorer and spits out and error message - 0xc0000022. If I make the account admin it then works fine but revert it back and it crashes again.
  3. I have to say I'm one of those who did a new unattanded disk every month and was continuously testing new disks but now I've moved over to imaging the hard disk. I do the following once a month after patch day: 1. Roll back to last base image of Windows XP and Office 2003 2. Update XP with autopacther and then go to Microsoft update for anything else 3. Create new base image 4. Reinstall programs Takes about 30 mins in all.
  4. foobar2000 Mpui uTorrent Firefox 7zip Foxit PDF reader Notepad2 Office 2003 Nero 6 XnView MS Virtual CD Infact this is all I ever have installed on my computer.
  5. Lite-On WN5401A driver under LIT folder appears to be missing.
  6. Isn't that on the Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products & Web Sites list.
  7. I get that problem but only when I leave the cd in the CD-writer drive. If I stick it into the normal DVD drive it's perfectly happy. Don't ask me why but that works for me.
  8. I use FreeDownloadManager but I do wish they'd change the name. It also intergrates with Firefox nicely.
  9. have you tried this on WinXP? Yes it does work in xp but I couldn't get it to display the floating window but you could hide and show things from the menu anyway. Also I haven't tried to do it unattended. I think it is possible though.
  10. Limited user account, alternative browser (I use Firefox), Kill bits (spywareblaster and blocklist from spywareguide), IESpyad and maybe a host file too. You can then scan with any combination of Ad-aware, Spybot, MS antispyware or HijackThis but you won't find anything.
  11. Started of with a batch file and didn't really like the look. So moved to runonceex then multiple runonceex. Which was a big improvement. But I now use and prefer xplode.
  12. I'd rather have the program stand alone (with a nice gui) instead of having it integated into the shell. Very usefull tool but it just clutters things up and I only rarely need it. RyanVM has a forum for his pack and it's answered there on how to remove it.

  15. Why don't you just use the zipped version and create sfx rar file. You can also add wnaspi32.dll to it.
  16. I've used Nero for years and have no complaints but i want to get my system over to as much freeware as possible. I tried CdBurnerXp Pro and deep burner but didn't care for either that much. So now I'm settled on using burnatonce. Nice and sleak gui with all the function I could need. Data cds, audio cds and image burning.
  17. As far as themes go I like the old Qute Retro one and as far as Extensions go: Ad-Block, Bookmark Backup, Dictionary Search, Download Manager Tweak, Flat Bookmark Editing, Image Zoomer, Nuke Anything, Tabbed Browser Extension, Spellbound, Paste and Go..
  18. You can do it with tweakUI or through reg tweaks. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders] "Cookies"="D:\\Windows\\Cookies\\"

  20. Firefox is designed to be light as they don't believe in bloat but still provide the ability to pick and chose plugins and theme the way it looks. I say it's a good way of doing things. I'm not going to be a Firefox bigot as I'd rather see more diverse secure browsers. At the moment only Firefox and maybe Opera meet that requirement. So I see no real resaon not to use it, well until it gets hit by spyware bigtime. I'd also like to see a coherent and knowledgeably thought out reason why not to use it.
