As promised, here is the string of my current user-agent for the variable general.useragent.override.addons.palemoon.org in the most recent version of New Moon 28 from 2022-08-24: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:68.0) Gecko/20100101 Goanna/4.8 Firefox/68.0 PaleMoon/29.4.1 You see, less recent than @VistaLover's one. But I tested it again, and it still works fine here.

You're absolutely right! Windows XP itself doesn't have the latest security features. It is an old, unsupported OS for years, but still my main and beloved operating system. Therefore, the user of such OSes has to be careful and wise. Using a browser which lacks of security updates and bug fixes since June of 2018, is not recommended and certainly not wise. The lack of the most recent TLS protocol and its ciphers is not really a problem, you can use the brand new TLS 1.3 proxy I recently released as a program package. And, using such an old browser should be no problem when sharing data via Firefox Sync or surfing trusted, secure websites. But generally, it should be replaced by a lot of more secure alternatives like, for example, New Moon, Serpent or Mypal 68. Therefore and unfortunately, my original statement is reasonable and correct. Maybe, the word "totally" can be ignored or be replaced (already done!). Anyway, each to their own, of course!

Thanks a lot for this unbelievable nice reply, @D.Draker! Yes, I am a Frisian! But it would never have been enough for a general, you have to be of a different breed. Nevertheless, I feel very honoured and am definitely very pleased that you have read some of my posts. I have just drunk a cup of East Frisian tea. By the way, the Frisian dialect is "plattdeutsch" and doesn't sound so nice to many Germans. I've always spoken pure "hochdeutsch" for family reasons, and today, too. Hello @tigerindigo! You need a language pack for New Moon/Pale Moon 28.10.x. The German one works for me with the most recent version of New Moon 28 without any issues. Same here in Germany. Mina is the first name of a female. But in Egypt, it is vice versa! Right! Or, you can also use the TLS 1.3 proxy locally. The TLS 1.3 proxy and thus also my program package makes it possible to establish connections to servers or generally to the Internet via the TLS 1.3 protocol (and all other TLS protocols which was already done with previous releases) in Windows XP even independently of browsers, which was not possible before. You can test my program package with the old Firefox ESR 52.9.0. Here is a link, you still have to choose your language: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/52.9.0esr/win32/ And, in any case, with the Internet Explorer 8, too. Some email programs and others also need such a proxy nowadays. This article will be updated when time is available. My program package ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3 is fully documented inside its archive.

Hello @SC7601! That's correct! I would be very pleased if I got feedback from users who can test my program package in a real installation (no VM) of Windows XP on a period-correct hardware. BTW, my Windows XP computer is equipped with a Pentium 4 2.8 GHz Northwood single core CPU and only 1.5 GB SD-RAM. No SSD, no SATA but IDE hard disks, and the graphic card is NVIDIA 6200 AGP 4x. You see, we both are running Windows XP on a Pentium 4. You do not need to use old Chrome browsers. In the MSFN forum, we have a lot of browsers compatible with Windows XP and quite recent to surf the web nowadays. Hello @feodor2! As promised before, I checked the profile folder and the already updated extensions in my installation of Mypal 68. The file addonStartup.json.lz4 exists in the main folder of my profile and doesn't have to be deleted when updating extensions. Therefore, I can't confirm your statement, unfortunately or fortunately, it's up to you. I don't exactly know what you mean by the 1st page. The first page of the Add-ons Manager or the first page of an extension on Mozilla Firefox Add-ons website? Anyway, I already installed several extensions from the first page of an extension on Mozilla Firefox Add-ons website without any problems if the extension was really compatible with Mypal 68. Furthermore, I updated some extensions via the first page of the Add-ons Manager by using the menu item "Install add-on from file" without deleting anything before. So what is the issue? Browsers like Chrome, Firefox, and unfortunately, Mypal 68, too, all of them have a lot of problems in their memory management. Nowadays, the developers do not matter at all how much memory is used by their programs, unfortunately. New computers are equipped with a huge amount of RAM. For running those browsers on my old, slow, and beloved computer, I have to do a lot to reduce RAM consumption because a RAM extension was and is not possible due to its motherboard layout. I am a logically thinking person , and I don't believe anything at all due to my mathematical, technical, scientific, and philological background. Trial and error is the main principle! What you called pejoratively "snake oil", helps me a lot in very special situations, but not in general. I am not a friend of such common and rather meaningless statements. Truth be told, most of all memory manager I tested in the past are crap and don't do anything reasonable at all. But, there are exceptions. On my computer, low on RAM, I can perfectly observe how programs behave and what they do if the system runs out of free RAM. Mypal 68 in combination with Firemin Portable 6.3.1.5105 works much better than without it. The browser behaves more fluently while loading websites. Its memory consumption and releasing of occupied RAM can be improved in this way, "but cannot work miracles" which you forgot to quote from me (That, I don't like, either. Full quotation or nothing, but no selecting in one sentence!). Here is the full quotation of my statement: And, just to complete it, I do have another "snake oil" for you which is able to work system-wide in Windows. It's the program CleanMem Pro. Many years ago, I bought a license for it. A free version is available, too. Here is the link: https://www.pcwintech.com/cleanmem. I only use this on my old Windows XP computer. But you have to configure it very carefully! Anyway, all these measures and many others I don't want to list here lead to an improvement in regard to the RAM consumption in my system. IsRelative=0 means using absolute paths as, for example, D:\Eigene Dateien\Mypal\Mypal68\Profiles\Test in my case. IsRelative=1 means relative paths in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\*\Application Data\Mypal68\Profiles as, for example, Profiles/qxykmjt0.private in your case. You can't mix the two! That wouldn't work!

Thanks for your reply! Why do you talk about Serpent? The file installs.ini with this install ID I observed only in Mypal 68's folder located in C:\Documents and Settings\*\Application Data\Mypal68\.

Cool! Snake oil! Everywhere the same discussions! Superfluous and leading to nothing! In my system, Firemin Portable 6.3.1.5105 helps me a lot in reducing Mypal 68's RAM consumption. Chrome browsers in Windows XP, I only use very rarely because they are the worst RAM consumer ever. IMHO, Mypal 68 in single process mode, managed by Firemin in the background, behaves much better than without it, most particularly in a slow system which is low on RAM like mine. No more and no less! Roytam1's browsers do not need Firemin. They are much less RAM consuming than Chrome browsers or Mypal 68. Sorry, but that's the truth! And one thing is clear, no pictures about RAM consumption from me! I do not waste my time with nonsense! I have more important things to do! No one is forced to use this tool, and everyone can make their own experiences. Firemin is Open Source and therefore at no costs. I just wanted to help and nothing more. I provided a download link of a version which was requested by a user and wasn't available in the internet anymore. Take it or leave it! Anyway, you could investigate it in detail, of course!
