My Browser Builds (Part 3)
AstroSkipper replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
One thing I forgot to mention. If you want to watch YouTube videos in VLC, you presumably have to update the file youtube.luac in VLC folder lua. Without updating, I couldn't watch streams in VLC. Here is a link: https://github.com/videolan/vlc/blob/master/share/lua/playlist/youtube.lua. You simply have to renane the file youtube.lua to youtube.luac and replace the old, already existing file. This file is updated regulary. Cheers, AstroSkipper -

The Classic Add-ons Archive is the first place in general to look for old, legacy add-ons. Of course, not all of them will work, you simply have to try. If you want to use YouTube in NM 28 itself, I recommend the extension uTube. Here is a link: https://realityripple.com/Software/XUL/uTube/ You'll have to change the minVersion in the file install.rdf to 28.10.0. With this extension, you get rid of all unnecessary crap on YouTube, showing the video only. Cheers, AstroSkipper -

Very good news for all using GitHub. The extension palefill has been updated to version 1.15. Now, GitHub is working in NM 28, presumably, in all other roytam1 releases too, as it was and should be. Cheers, AstroSkipper -

Hi @tpao12, sorry for the delay! Wasn't online the last two days! Glad that it works for you now with the help of @XPerceniol. I do have an old Pentium 4 too, truth be told, even a generation older than yours, and I play all videos in VLC with the help of the extension VLC Youtube Shortcut 0.8.3.2 to avoid the crappy YouTube site. To search for YouTube videos, I use the website Invidious. Maybe, you like it. Cheers, AstroSkipper -

Unfortunately, you didn't say which browser caused this message, and the corresponding YouTube link is still missing either, to check it in a simple way (reading from the picture is not as great as just clicking). -

I changed the topic title to specify the subject more exactly. Is that ok for you, now? I don't want to draw spambots, of course. Were there already any negative experiences before? Kind regards, AstroSkipper

Clarification: First, we need an assessment of the feasibility of this project, described in the first post of this thread. This means, there is no obligation to get involved. Therefore, I would be very happy if someone with the appropriate Python programming knowledge could take a look at the source code to give us their first assessment. Kind regards, AstroSkipper

My Browser Builds (Part 3)
AstroSkipper replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Thanks for the clarification! BTW, I didn't say it's the same issue as yours. I simply reported that NM 28 was a bit broken on GitHib either. And strange is that this is only the case when you are logged in. I use mainly the Mypal 68 browser to access GitHub, but yesterday I realized the first time that NM 28 had some problems on GitHub despite using palefill, unlike Mypal 68. I didn't notice that it was already reported here and thought it would be a good idea to do that now. The issues of all roytam1's browsers, I don't follow regulary, sorry! In that matter, you are the expert. I follow the Mypal 68 issues regulary, reporting new issues and helping as much as I can. Nobody can be everywhere! Anyway, good to know that it will be fixed soon. And, thanks for your "dirty" workaround! I am patient. I'll wait for an update of palefill, hoping it'll fix the issue. Cheers, AstroSkipper -

In New Moon 28 (palemoon-28.10.6a1.win32-git-20220618-d849524bd-uxp-43cfc69b2-xpmod), GitHub works as expected if you are not logged in, as far as I can see. But if you are logged in, the menu items of each site don't work properly. For example, calling up the GitHub site https://github.com/Feodor2/Mypal68 and clicking onto the item Code or Issues, nothing happens. You have to reload the selected sub site first to see its content. I use the addon palefill v1.14. I would say GitHub is a bit broken in NM 28 either, but not as much as it is in your case, of course. Tested in two different profiles (one of them is a new profile). In Mypal 68, there are no such problems, though. Cheers, AstroSkipper -

TLS 1.1 & 1.2 for OE 6 (XP), Key ´POSReady´ not to set to ´1´
AstroSkipper replied to visionhelp's topic in Windows XP
Very interesting! Never heard of it before. I used the POSReady hack without any problems in the past, and therefore, no need to try other methods. You're absolutely right! Posting of hacked Microsoft files publicly, are not allowed in MSFN. It's against the forum rules. Anyway, thanks for your interesting post! Cheers, AstroSkipper- 29 replies

TLS 1.1 & 1.2 for OE 6 (XP), Key ´POSReady´ not to set to ´1´
AstroSkipper replied to visionhelp's topic in Windows XP
Of course, I have personal claims but what I wrote has nothing to do with my personal claims. It's just the way member usually behave in this forum, in a polite and correct form, following the forum rules and etiquette. And they are non-negotiable! Furthermore, I gave you a lot of tips to do all that, easily and correctly. Unfotunately, this is not the truth. It's just your subjective impression. Of course! I do not have to waste my time in assisting a member who doesn't appreciate it. I already helped you a lot, and I'm about to deeply regret that. Therefore, good luck and have a nice day! No more help or comments from me. Regards, AstroSkipper- 29 replies

Hi @visionhelp. you should reconsider how to post or act in MSFN. Multiple posting of the same content is frowned upon and not allowed under the forum rules. The same applies to opening a thread that already exists thematically. Beside that, your posts are difficult to understand, unfortunately. This is an English speaking forum. It's not easy for people who are not proficient in the English language to write comments. For this reason, I recommend to use Google translator only. Write in short, clear German sentences and let Google translate them! Clear, short German sentences will lead to understandable English ones. I say this due to the circumstance that I always have to guess what you actually want to say while reading your replies. Here are some tips how to post and to act in MSFN forum: MSFN Forum Rules: Read carefully the rules: https://msfn.org/board/guidelines/ MSFN Forum Etiquette: Read carefully this post: https://msfn.org/board/topic/39016-msfn-forum-etiquette/?do=findComment&comment=222267 Quotations: A quotation can be done by marking a text of a post and clicking "Quote". Or you can use the quoting button in a post of a member, left down below. Here is a quotation of a sentence in your previous post: Mentions: To talk to or to mention a member, you have to "mention" this person by typing @ and the member's name in the commenting editor. For example, if you want to mention me, type @AstroSkipper. Here is the result: @AstroSkipper Quoting or mentioning leads to a notification sent to the member you want to talk to or mention. Only in these cases does another member notice that you want to speak to them. Upvoting or Liking: Liking means you simply like the content of a member's post. Upvoting means you agree to the content of a member's post. You do not have to like or to upvote contents but it's a form of rating and respect to good contents or the efforts of a member. Upvoting or Liking can be done in a member's post, in the right corner down below. Kind regards, AstroSkipper- 29 replies

Of course! Here, you can post all questions or requests relating to enabling of TLS 1.1 and 1.2 in Windows XP. Actually, you shouldn't have opened a new thread for such requests. But everything associated with ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu 3V1, is off-topic here, and should have been posted in my thread "ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use". It's not as complicated as it seems to be. Cheers, AstroSkipper

TLS 1.1 & 1.2 for OE 6 (XP), Key ´POSReady´ not to set to ´1´
AstroSkipper replied to visionhelp's topic in Windows XP
Read the FAQ on the homepage of Offline Windows Password & Registry Editor: http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/faq.html In your BIOS settings, you have to set booting from USB or external medium. The name of this option may vary, depending on your motherboard. I prefer booting fron CD/DVD. Cheers, AstroSkipper- 29 replies

AstroSkipper replied to visionhelp's topic in Windows XP
BTW, I already used Offline Windows Password & Registry Editor to reset my admin password in the past, and it's simply great. You don't want to reset your password. Therefore, it doesn't matter. And in the described case above, you have to have EFS encrypted files. The conclusion is unfounded and not comprehensible. And if you have a complete backup of your system partition, you have nothing to lose. Therefore, follow the instructions! Or leave it! PS: The process of deleting or editing the registry key from outside, will last just a few minutes. Creating a fresh image of your system partition, will need the most time. AstroSkipper replied to visionhelp's topic in Windows XP
You're welcome! If the key is deleted completely from outside, you should have no problems to apply the POSReady hack in Windows itself. But you can try, instead of deleting the registry entry, to edit it to your needs, i.e., setting the value to 1. If something goes wrong, you'll be glad to have a backup to restore the possibly damaged system partition. You'll never know what will happen when modifying Windows from outside. AstroSkipper replied to visionhelp's topic in Windows XP
You're welcome! No, it's an offline registry editor either. I don't use this kind of tools. A lot of them are crap. But I think it's not able to do this or to do this successfully. Here is the instruction how to use Offline Windows Password & Registry Editor: Boot Offline Windows Password & Registry Editor. Mount the partition with your windows installation, select the full option, change to the regkey and delete it. Then exit the program and write the changes back to disk. Boot back to Windows and the regkey is gone. Cheers, AstroSkipper- 29 replies

A registry key which is already in use can't be deleted in Windows itself. You have to do that from outside. Use, for example, the tool Offline Windows Password & Registry Editor: http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/ I recommed to perform a backup of your system partition, first! TLS 1.1 & 1.2 for OE 6 (XP), Key ´POSReady´ not to set to ´1´
AstroSkipper replied to visionhelp's topic in Windows XP
The corresponding key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\PosReady seems to already exist. Check this key by using Regedit or any other registry editor! If this registry hack was already performed, the entry should look like as following: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\PosReady] "Installed"=dword:00000001 If you had applied this hack the first time, this registry key couldn't have been in use at all 'cause it weren't still there. Therefore, I think the hack has already been applied. Simply said: a nonexistent key cannot be in use. Cheers, AstroSkipper- 29 replies
