seems like there is a process running in the background that windows is having problems shutting down, run adaware, spybot, and MS antispyware and see if it is spyware causing your problems. Also when it freezes like that can you press Ctrl, Alt, Del and see what is not responding. Look for any suspicius services running in the Process tab.

I have some dell servers and they have raid 5 on them, I did a ghost image with ghostcast server edition 8.0.0.984 and was able to restore to a raid drive just fine.

Friend of mine did something similar, it was just much easier to format and redo his computer, I did this and installed all updates and the computer was up and running in about 1 1/2 hours.

Windows will not do anything to the other partition automatically, you would have to go to disk management and format the partition yourself. Then in that same disk management utility you can use it to change the drive letters if you like. You can not do this from the setup screens as far as I know.

I would download Microsoft Anti Spyware Tool and run update it and then run a full scan of my computer. I like it better than spybot and adaware as it tends to find more stuff than the other two. Maybe there is still some stuff in your computer messing up your IE. This tool also lets you reset your browser to its default settings.

He is right, I have heard that you can install it on one desktop and one laptop. You can call M$ and tell them you need an activation for the laptop one and they should give you one without charging.

This happens when you upgrade your OS from either win98, ME, 2000, xp home to the winxp pro version. It is normal, you will need the office cd so that it can grab some files it needs to replace in order to work. No way around that.

you can try running Norton Disk Doctor on it Version 2005 I think is the latest.

I think that My Briefcase does that automatically.
