  1. you could try that and also make sure you have the latest bios on that motherboard to to make sure it can recognize the new processor correctly.
  2. Create a reg file and put this into it. It will create an outlook 2003 icon on your desktop. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\{00020D75-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]
  3. I do not know if there is a fix, but if you change your mail to Outlook 2003 you can create PST files and they have no 2GB limit, I think there is no limit on those.
  4. Yes it is better, I run 2 1GB sticks in Dual Channel, and it rocks!
  5. I too would use partition magic, it has never let me down yet.
  6. try renameing that file in question and then try to go to safe mode again and let me know what happens
  7. If I understand correctly, you can put this drive in your computer and format it to your hearst content right. Then format the drive using fat32 for now and make the drive bootable. Once it is formated copy the I386 folder from the windows xp cd to the hard drive in a folder called i386. Install the hard drive back on the laptop and then when you turn it on it should boot up to a black screen with a command prompt on it like C:> Then type cd\i386 then try to run the winnt.exe that may start the setup to install xp from the drive you are currently on. Can you not change your bios to boot from CD first, that would be easier, as you could boot from a bootable xp cd too and then run setup that way.
  8. probably a weak resistor or capacitor in that psu, just buy a new one.
  9. could be a virus do a free online scan at one of these sites. Trend Houscall Symantec Mcafee Trojan Scan Bitdefender to name a few.
  10. The new drives I buy do not have the software you are talking about, but it sounds promising. With the ghost that I use you do not need to even format the drive or anything, as long as your motherboard and bios sees the drive so will ghost, you do a disk to disk copy and thats that, the new drive will be a full drive too, not just he size of the copied drive. @ ToasterMax, I replied to your PM
  11. forget all that cross conect cable and network stuff. Install the 300gb drive to your exsisting computer as a slave drive, then use Norton Ghost to clone the 20gb drive to the 300gb drive and once it is done, remove the 20gb drive and make the 200gb drive the master. And you are done. I use ghost ver 8.0. Once you boot with the ghost disk, you will do these steps: Local Disk to Disk Seleck the first 20gb disk as the original and the 300gb as the destination. PM me and I can get you a boot disk.
  12. Update your AV, and spyware software, restart computer in safe mode and do full scans with both programs. Also get a hold of a program called WinSpy and that program can help you find out what processes are being used to run certain programs.
  13. Have you tried to verify that you unchecked "Use Cached Exchange Mode" when you set up your exchange on Outlook under email accounts?
  14. have you tried adding the reg file in a login script?
  15. you could try and rename your bat file to a *.vbs file to see if it works, you could also try and convert the bat file to an *.com or *.exe file. Another solution which I use because I have alot of bat files that run at night, I use a program called Schedule Wizard, which allows me to schedule bat files. Do a search on google.com for the web page.
  16. GDISK is part of norton ghost just to make it easier for you to find
  17. I do not think so, you can alway reboot later after the running program gets done and you can afford a reboot.
  18. you have to go into the interface and change it there, although I think you have to leave the default user and you can only change the password. That is as far as I know, but if there is another way, I willing to learn.
  19. You may be able to try a program called BadCopy Pro from HERE and see if it can recover the data, if not try to format the Flash Memory Stick. If it is happening on several computers, more than likely the fat table got messed up. EDIT: I usually keep a copy of everything that is on my Memory Stick, because if static or something cause it to be unreadable, I can just format it and recopy the stuff back onto it.
  20. Below is an artical from Microsoft on How to start the System Restore tool at a command prompt in Windows XP. This will allow you to go back to a different time before you installed something that make your system act wierd. Depending if you have System Restore on, depends if you will be able to do the system restore. System Restore Hope this helps you. EDIT: to the board.
  21. I believe you can do that with Group Policies
