  1. that cd you got from your friend is probably not an original, there are extra folders in there and also some files missing as well. Here is a list of my CD: Directory of E:\ 09/02/2004 07:18 AM <DIR> CHECKIT 09/02/2004 07:18 AM <DIR> FASTSAFEA 09/02/2004 07:18 AM <DIR> FASTSAFEW 09/02/2004 07:18 AM <DIR> GOBACK 09/02/2004 07:18 AM <DIR> MANUAL 09/02/2004 07:18 AM <DIR> NAV 09/02/2004 07:18 AM <DIR> NCS 09/02/2004 07:18 AM <DIR> NPM 09/02/2004 07:18 AM <DIR> NSW 09/02/2004 07:18 AM <DIR> NU 09/02/2004 07:18 AM <DIR> SUPPORT 09/02/2004 07:18 AM <DIR> VIRUSDEF 09/01/2004 06:50 PM 369 AUTORUN.INF 09/02/2004 07:18 AM 2,048 BOOTCAT.BIN 09/02/2004 07:19 AM 2,931,712 BOOTIMG.BIN 08/13/2004 02:16 PM 132,216 CCGSE.DLL 08/13/2004 02:23 PM 240,760 CCL30.DLL 08/13/2004 02:17 PM 145,016 CCSCAN.DLL 08/13/2004 07:06 AM 709,728 DEFUTDCD.DLL 04/22/2004 11:22 AM 42,112 ECMLDR32.DLL 03/18/2003 02:14 PM 499,712 MSVCP71.DLL 02/20/2003 10:42 PM 348,160 MSVCR71.DLL 09/01/2004 07:03 PM 492,680 NCDSTART.EXE 09/01/2004 07:03 PM 1,262,736 NSWSETUP.EXE 08/30/2004 12:34 PM 197,760 PROBEGSE.DLL 09/01/2004 06:50 PM 2,395 README.TXT 14 File(s) 7,007,404 bytes 13 Dir(s) 0 bytes free Think you need to find the original ISO to download. EDIT: Put the directory in order for easier viewing.
  2. 1. Make sure you close all your programs and save your work before you click on shutdown. 2. You are using a trial version or have not activated your windows. If you are using a downloaded copy of windows, go to google and search for ways to change your product key to one that works. We can not discuss how to crack your windows to work.
  3. I have always had great luck with Partition Magic, weather it is creating, deleting, or merging partitions. When you have a drive that has more than two partitions though, you have to make sure that you merge them in the correct order or you may encounter problems. Trick is to make sure you save to the rescue disk so that you can always undo changes if something goes wrong. I am glad for you that you were able to get your data back. I was going to suggest booting to dos and then running a program called NTFSPRO to access your partitions. I have done this in the past with great success. Anyway I am glad you got your stuff working again. As far as other software that does what Partition Magic does, I am not sure which ones do it, but I would tend to rely on what I know works for me, the key being ME, and that would be PM.
  4. it probably would not cause a problem, especially if you are going to reinstall it afterwards. You should try office 2003 instead. Also make sure you backup your registry before you go deleting stuff from it.
  5. have you tried a different keyboard
  6. try reinstalling the nav
  7. normally they will place something in the registry that you have to go and search for. Then you can find the folder where they were installed and delete them. There are also some uninstaller programs that you could use, cant think of the names right now though.
  8. RUNAS (Windows 2000/XP) Execute a program under a different user account. syntax RUNAS [/profile] [/env] [/netonly] /user: program key /profile Option to load the user's profile (registry) /env Use current environment instead of user's. /netonly Use if the credentials specified are for RAS only. /user Username in form USER@DOMAIN or DOMAIN\USER (USER@DOMAIN is not compatible with /netonly) program The command to execute Examples: runas /profile /user:mymachine\administrator CMD runas /profile /env /user:SCOT_DOMAIN\administrator NOTEPAD runas /env /user:user@domain.microsoft.com "NOTEPAD \"my file.txt\"" NOTE: Enter user's password only when prompted. Found on Google
  9. you could try XPicon Ver3 to make your windows 98 and windows 2k look like windows XP.
  10. why not just install only the critical updates from the Windows Update site, you can select only those, But to answer your question I do not have the link.
  11. are you playing them with the same player. Try playing them in VideoLan
  12. if they are logging into the domain, just do not give them admin rights on the domain and on the workstation, make them a simple user. Also do not allow them to be power users.
  13. yes do the scandisk and tell it to do a surface scan too.
  14. First thing I would do is update my antivirus and update my adware and run full scans to make sure I do not have any virus or spyware running on my computer, then I would do a defrag of my drives. That may help.
  15. got to get the english version, there are no translators.
  16. Go to File then Import and Export Then select Export to a file Then choose Comma Separated Values (Windows) Then Select your Calender and click Next Then give it a name and location to export to Then verify that there is a check mark on the Export and click Finish. To import after you have reinstalled do the oppisite, Import from a file. Also you may just have auto achieve on and they are in a file called archieve.pst. Do a search on your hard drive for any *.pst files and see if you find one.
  17. that would be a nice thing, I too would like to know if it can, but I think it can not.
  18. just do a search for *.pst files on your computer and back those files up.
  19. I second that
  20. Telling him not to type in caps does not seem to help him any, I would try and extract a new copy of savrt.sys file from the original cd first and see if that helps, if you have another working computer there, see if they have the same file and copy it from that machine too.
  21. I do the same, but I never copy the sub folders. Have not had a use for them, the sub folders are for use when upgrading an install i believe.
  22. it is not because of the FAT32, I get this on some coputers when I try and Install windows xp on them. What I do is remove all PCI cards from the computer, then I install windows xp, and then after the computer is up and running, power down, install one pci card, turn on the computer, install the drivers or let windows install them, then do the same with the other cards. Seems to work for me most of the time.
  23. been waiting on this, thanks for the info
  24. you could use Stinger from McAfee, it detects a lot of worms and trojans
