  1. Really? Thats it? No modifying txtsetup.sif or dosnet.inf? Interesting...
  2. Which one do you mean? I am almost sure there is a simply GPO that does this...
  3. Any problems running games? Direct3d or OpenGL?
  4. I would also like to say Thanks to all that replied. This is something I will be looking into as well!
  5. So any type of Remote Access is completely out of the question? I use remote desktop but not in the conventional way... I have OpenSSH for Windows installed on my box, and hence, only the SSH port is open. So what I do is I ssh into my box, and then Portforward a localport (Say port 3000 on my laptop) to my ssh box port 3389 (the Remote Desktop Port), then run remote desktop using "localhost:3000" as the server. Essentially, all the remote desktop packets are "tunneled" through the AES encrypted SSH tunnel...
  6. IS this update an update that is not flagged a critical update? Do users have to download this outside of Mircrosoft/Windows Update?
  7. Wow. This tools looks insane! Will definately check it out...
  8. I was going to ask this same question. I want to prevent the WGA tray pop-up...no particular reason of course...
  9. Are your kids under the GUEST account or with Guest privelages? You should be able to make them ordinary Users or Power Users and it should work. ALSO, on your account, mess with something called Set Program Access and Defaults. Usually on the startmenu but can also be found in Add/Remove Programs in the control panel.
  10. No problem! My pleasure!
  11. There is an excellent comparison here. That is an older project. Thibor's is the most current version. Thanks. I will look into it in more detail.
  12. look at the presetup.cmd file inside the I386 folder. Check what TAGFILE the script is looking for to figure out what drive the "\OEM\BIN\WatchDriverSigningPolicy.exe" is When you get the above error, it simply means it didn't find the drive (i.e. it couldn't find the tag it was looking for).
  13. RogueSpear is correct. I also doubt the Realtek drivers will work. It looks like it may be a limitation with the SoundMax audio onboard...
  14. I don't exactly remember which of the ones below solve your problem, but if you don't have any of the ones listed below, add them in and try... [unattended] Unattendmode = FullUnattended OemPreinstall = Yes UnattendSwitch = Yes **EDIT: Confirmed that it is the UnattendSwitch = Yes UnattendSwitch Specifies whether Setup skips Windows Welcome or Mini-Setup when preinstalling Windows XP Home Edition or Windows XP Professional using the CD boot method. Syntax UnattendSwitch = Yes | No Values Yes Instructs Setup to skip Windows Welcome. No Instructs Setup not to skip Windows Welcome. Default Value No Example UnattendSwitch = Yes
  15. Well, what steps have you taken so far? I know that if you are installing from a network share, the $OEM$ folder must be INSIDE the I386 folder...WHEREAS if you were installing from a CDROM, it must be OUTSIDE the I386 folder...this may solve your problem...post back!
  16. Is this an error specifically caused when using your update packs with a RIS installation? Do you have links pointing to the people you are referring to? The reason I ask is because I will soon be implementing RIS on my network and I wish to use your update packs and I want to be aware of any hicups I might run into...
  17. You are correct. Perhaps they come in a standalone card as well?
  18. Were you also losing synch with your monitor during install? Also, I don't seem to have a presetup.cmd in my install. Can I just add my monitor drivers to the install and add the path to OemPnPDriversPath? Sorry, I was assuming you were using BTS Driverpacks. No I didn't have Sync issues. I was only suggesting this method incase that MIGHT be the reason why you were having issues. Yes I believe the OemPnPDriversPath should do the trick as well.
  19. What I did was create my own Monitor DP and edited the presetup.cmd appropriately. That way I do get my monitors to show up correctly in Device Manger rather than "Plug and Play Monitor."
  20. I believe this is the best client to use: http://www.wirelesssecuritycorp.com/wsc/pu...WPAAssistant.do It is more specific to WPA and other encryption but it will also work for basic wireless needs. Post back and let me know what you think. It is free, the link is way at the bottom to download it. http://www.wirelesssecuritycorp.com/wsc/public/Downloads.do
  21. Wow. Absolutely awesome. You should write a guide...*hint* *hint*
  22. Well, it depends on how you define support. By a factory, default installation, there are no decoders for DVD Video OR Audio installed. You have to use a third party CODEC. I use Nvidia Purevideo Decoder. This, however, is not the issue.
  23. How long is "a long time."?? I am in a very similar situation. Right now, I have 4 WD320's in RAID 0 which I obviously want to change to RAID 5 (or 6?). How long (estimated) does it take to rebuild incase 1 drive fails?
  24. Wow. Quite a story. The source of your solution is going to be finding out why you get DEVICE CANNOT START CODE 10 when you have the AGP Video Card as a primary and the PCI Video Card as secondary. This may have to do with your Motherboard BIOS and / or drivers for the PCI card. What approaches have you taken regarding drivers and bios?
  25. Just out of curiousity, I have a WRT54G and have come across the modding scence for this router but have often been scared about flashing my firmware. What exactly does Thibor's firmware do (i.e. Why do people use it / How is it better than Linksys's). I am simply asking because I simply do not know if it offers any advantages for me, though I am very curious!
