  1. dunno if this was posted but here are updated things in new update 1 for 8.1 clearly shows the failure of MS and win by users Metro apps are now acting like normal apps, can be minimized to taskbar, maximized and they even get title bar like any normal windowed app Taskbar now pops out even in "metro mode" (when you hover down) Metro Title bar popus out when you hover up and what was known metro apps can be pinned to taskbar as ordinary apps could
  2. 6.1 has modified shell 6.0 doesn't have anything of it unless you port it over from broken build 6469
  3. not all, maybe some win7 is newer OS with new components thus some new API calls within dll's, and Vista wouldn't be able to call(use) them as Vista doesn't have them you'd probably end up with bunch of error messages popping out or even crashing of some good amount of things dunno if platform update helps but IMO it wouldn't go as easy you'd probably had to open each ported dll with Dependency Walker, see what API calls it asks and which Vista can't find then patch them so they don't use those calls at all or bypass it somehow (this is where asm and disassembly comes to play)
  4. hi & welcome
  5. fbcdn.net seems to be profile exchange/tracking site/server/data I also considered blocking akamaihd.net, as seems many blogs and tardish sites like facebook/twitter use this too then again both MS and Apple use its services for some type of movie streaming (this is from wiki) dunno should I block it or not ...
  6. I never did, it still plants itself on startup
  7. facebook avatars are affected too via gravatar at least here
  8. if you block these 2 fbcdn.net www.gravatar.com forum main page won't display half of user avatars ain't it funny how you guys/gals are interconected with s***ty services ?
  9. sorry to be party crasher but ignore thurrot's babeling and check wzors blog every now and then http://wzascok.livejournal.com/as thurrot takes infos from him anyway you get purty pictures too
  10. perfect ! thanks alot !
  11. the autorun is hardcoded even if you manually remove it, on next app run it will re-insert itself (real time scanner doesn't matter here, this is its service)
  12. I'd like my mouse by pressing the wheel to activate flip3d but obviously it needs some sort of mapper, and my mouse is old so no driver would allow it anyone know any program to do it ?
  13. I have it disabled its not problem as problem, more like annoyance and classic winOS distrust as when I see such cloning, always kicks in either a malware or some process that is digging where shouldn't
  14. ok time to bump finally found what is causing this, and this is affected by ALL win7 systems out there if you have a browser with DL manager (and all of them do now), or if you use torrent client, or anything simmiliar and if you right click on your download/file being downloaded, and do "Open Folder" or "Open Path" it will open the folder of file you clicked on and with that new instance of explorer.exe
  15. problem with portables is you can't update them
  16. small resource taker ?
  17. MBAM is more generic than specific its not bad to use both I just hate how MBAM plants itself into startup for no reason and you can't remove the **** thing
  18. ahahah I just love this http://www.theverge.com/2014/1/30/5362156/windows-8-1-update-1-boot-to-desktop-by-default ehehehe they can't decide anymore should this be OS for touch or classic ah the blessed irony
  19. with great joy I am writing that another Qt based browser has spawned it is as Light as Qtweb, but this one is made to mimic classic Opera UI its name is Otter Browser, check it out, its in early alpha and is much better than QtWeb already
  20. this makes no sense at all vista uses quick launch toolbar, which can be easily reinstated in "7" too which again contains same shortcut as vista as for right button on "7", nobody is forcing you to use it, beside it is barely noticable under glass and basic theme (btw I use one from quicklaunch as its easier to reach from center of screen than going all the way to the right) lets not forget how vista follows clunky taskbar and its idiotic grouping just like xp had comparing that of that from "7" is total crap, I'd take iconized "superbar" any time and another thing that vista fails at is UI of File Manager, just check that folder tree on the left everything is stiffed one below the other, so squished its not only annoying but ugly as hell at least "7" provides divided groups where user can easily see what is and what's not
  21. seems like Update 1 will allow pinning of metrocrap apps to taskbar http://www.winbeta.org/news/modern-apps-can-be-pinned-taskbar-latest-windows-81-update-1-builds is it just me or this move + "threshold" which will bring windoved metrocrap apps to desktop is admitting metro was failure from beginning ?
  22. I love this crap from their "desktop blog" lulz... 60 releases of garbage and 4 major releases of nonsense
  23. - don't use Java, its a nesting place for viruses
  24. hehe fair enough but comment still stands as in having major "known" exploits unpatched I know I always loved XP SP1, because it was so light while for some reason SP2 was system hog but later when all those viruses like sasser and others started to annoy I just had to get the fixes, and things like this no AV or firewall CAN FIX nor prevent as these are backdoor exploits on system level
