  1. I have this problem on both XP and "7" all my htm/html files got this icon asociated with them on XP theres IE6 and Firefox 20 on "7" theres Opera 11 and QtWeb i tried removing all browsers them installing them and use their "make this default browser" then i tried dis-asociate with 1st and give it to 2nd via "Open with/always" nothing helps, how to fix this
  2. What for? I'd recon either to screw someone at home or to install unsupported software OP: problem is that most programs check version via Kernel and not registry, so cheating is a no go
  3. I'd say malware those links have nothing todo with ebay
  4. IE will stay IE
  5. and vista doesn't ?
  6. removing ribbon is best feature one could make
  7. Why is this automatically assumed that an OS will be outdated in 3 to 4 years? for the same purpose why cpu's, gpu's and other s*** gets out of support after 2-3 years a capitalism new OS = new software, ditch old OS, automaticaly forces user to buy new OS for new version of software, new drivers hence new hardware etc etc... money money money
  8. its not about rebellion, OS just runs fine as it is so no problem there except those fonts MagicAndre1981, thanks for link
  9. there will be win9 and 10 and so on otherwise they'd lose their revenue as these minor .1 .2 updates are free not to mention that you can't forever upgrade same OS, winblows 8 will be outdated in 3-4 years
  10. question is... why use IE at all
  11. nope, I only have 7 SP1 with no updates later link to this fonts ?
  12. Last days on Mars even if its another zombile-like flick it was quite well made
  13. I'm surprised nobody reported this to them or how THEY didn't even realized it
  14. when I try to install vcredist 2012 update 4 (x86) no letters appear, like its ment for chinese people check this out: http://i40.tinypic.com/2e0v8zt.png while installing vcredist 2013 shows normal font/letters so what's wrong with this one ? i dled it from http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/6/B/16B06F60-3B20-4FF2-B699-5E9B7962F9AE/VSU4/vcredist_x86.exe
  15. you'd have far less trouble finding free ISO mounting app (there are few doing good job, and not only ISO but other images as well) than installing win8 and finding bunch of hacks and apps that restore win7 functionality
  16. Wolverine (2013) movie is terrible even if you are huge x-man fan end comes to giant mecha ninja fight vs wolverine
  17. thanks Ponch, will do !
  18. both true, not to mention (yes I witnessed it) that many business companies force use IE for online transaction (not other browsers) and most only call for IE 8 coz of XP on another note, even if I dislike Vista and absolutely hate IE, but what google does with their support drop is stupid clear example are versions 10 and 11 of Opera, they both run youtube/flash (newest) without problem at least on other sites but google simply blocked them on purpose crapping messages like "upgrade your browser, try google Chrome instead" anyhows IE will always be worst since it gets only 1 upgrade per year and that is... just open wound with salt on it
  19. no offense, but optimized browsers like QtWeb prove that I don't and not only that, it just proves how dev's today don't give a rats arse about optimizations most go "with the flow", expecting that everyone runs latest and best XP on 1 GB runs just fine, any game and/or app runs just fine (naturally not bloated ones) try adding only 3 plugins to chrome/iron, on very start you will have each plugin to eat exactly the same RAM as the original browser process, for what ? - do they run 3 more browser instances ? shouldn't plugin be a plugin ?!! - a small side process with low consuption ! why does plugin that only adds a button to toolbar eat 100 MB RAM ? did people missed period when such small irrelevant things supposed to take few kb or 1 MB at most ?
  20. problem with these is that they are all outdated thats why I opened this thread +add, I tried Midori and QupZilla, both webkit too and "lightweaight" Midori was unable to even install but portable one worked, but it wasn't stable at all while QupZilla even if advertised to be light, was same eating hog as normal chrome and even crashed to me (on that site #1) after 10 tabs opened
  21. someone once recommended hushmail to me it uses standard classic mail UI and not web-app as most today force its free BUT downside is your acc gets removed if you don't sign in for 30 days (which to me is BS)
  22. Okay, I had a need to open topic like this, how will it end up... we'll see long story short, I'm disgusted how these-day "modern" browsers eat RAM memory just for the sakes of it I have 2 putters, older one runs XP with 1 GB RAM, other has win7 with 3 GB RAM so I tried various (main) browsers excluding IE, to see results for this basic test i took (this is not ad), this page: http://www.onemillionpicture.com/photo-albums.html mind you when you open every picture in new tab, pictures are SMALL (res) !!! - Firefox (new) on very start takes over 100 MB for no reason, when I opened 20 tabs, 800 MB was eaten - so I put SRware Iron (chrome), same pages, same amount of tabs (same links), even worse result, it hogged down PC to hell, no scrolling down was possible, mem usage over 800 MB *Opera 18/19 I won't comment since its dog crap and I don't even consider that thing a browser anymore - but since I am old Opera user, I tried the SAME links/pics/tabs on Opera 11.52, and behold the miracle it only ate 360 MB RAM ------------------------------------------------ now, I am not here to promote old Opera, I am here to simply show and tell how "modern" browsers eat memory for no reason providing nothing in defense but we can't simply revert to old ones, since many pages are either blocking them or they don't support CSS 3/HTML 5 to which people are transitioning now in web (tho slowly but it will come) and honestly I am p***ed off, I use old Opera 11.52 for daily browsing and Iron on pages like youtube where Opera is blocked or fails to load properly so I googled on quick and found for now something called QtWeb, in short it is extra SMALL (not even 9MB installed) it has SMALL memory footprint I made same test like with other browsers here, same tabs/links, little guy ate only ~140 MB RAM (it is webkit based too) again this isn't advertising of neither browsers or pages, but I'd rather see what could others here recommend as ALTERNATIVE to garbage that is hyped, and under this garbage I consider Chrome, Firefox, Opera, IE (all new) are there any other browsers that utilise new web while not hogging down PC's ?
  23. YT started to suck again - it wasn't enough that 90% clips you upload got deleted because of copyright, right ? I mean... what isn't copyrighted today ? and its absurd to even use video hosting service to upload videos right ? - it wasn't enough that they started content filtering by country I mean... there are some top secret videos there that terrorists might use ! - it wasn't enough that they ditched YT to become YOUR personal place, but THEIRS with THEIR forced content and look no ! there has to be more features ! now you can't comment and/or read comments made for you without having your own piece of sh*t google+ account that nobody wants ... they simply stripped everything user wants OUT I see no reason anymore to have registered acc there
  24. ISP controls that, not some reg entries you can eventually search for patched tcpip.sys that gives you more open ports, but this is mostly good only for p2p dl speed
  25. that is ridiculous by itself OS doesn't magically check every second or minute or hour what is fragmented or not granted in win7 they tried to do it like that but failed miserably and NTFS by itself doesn't reserve space to prevent fragmenting but dumps pieces on 1st available place(s) then why ask here, go get it
