  1. Go back To Internet Explorer 6 Un-install Internet explorer 7.0 first, then install this set-up, you should go back to internet explorer 6, then never again hit the update http://rapidshare.com/files/24941395/ie6setup.exe I had problems with seven also, I'm glad that I save files to disk before installing, I have a back up copy to run incase of a problem
  2. I use Computer Associates ETrust Internet Security Suite. When I bought my computer, I bought it online from a popular vendor (i configured the system and they built it), only the hardware was installed and I manually installed the things I wanted. The Suite includes a firewall, anti-virus protection and real-time email protection. It shuts down windows firewall and uses its own. When I first installed it, it would ask me for permissions to run the programs that you would normally not see. But after the learning mode process of the software, it is virtually carefree computing. One problem I have seen so far with this and compatibility is that Internet Explorer 7 comes with anti-virus and phishing detection, something that has a conflict with my protection system, so I just havent upgraded my explorer. besides, I have netscape and also firefox, so I can choose any to do what I want , when I want. Overall rating on this product, I would give it a ten, it detected malware in my mail as an attachement, when the mail server didnt even pick uip on it. the address of the where the malware came from is secur@megaman.com And the filename is Update_KB765_x86.exe
  3. I wrote a file on an older computer, I saved it to floppy, and no longer have the older computer, I put the floppy in the drive and I saved the .doc file on the hard drive, but all I have to view it is wordpad. How can I recover this file?
  4. Im Old but not as old as in Computer years, Turnover of operating system is like dog and cat years. I remember when Computers were thought of to be really expensive and only rich people and business' were able to get them. One of the first were the Tandy from Radio Shack and the Commodore 64. I think now you can see how old I am. YOU had to write your own codes to make them work. Software, what's that...... Well, the reason why I joined this forum was because I want to get into deep thought about computers and gain all the knowledge a site like this has to offer. I know all the people here enjoy ripping things apart and putting them back together again, So do I. I just want to learn from the best. That means, all of you who are dedicated to keeping the knowledge flowing, that means all of you on these forums. I just want to close by giving thanks to all of you who answer everyones whoas and I want to thank each of you in advance, because I am going to be asking alot of questions. I might not always thank everyone when I should thats why I am thanking you all now. Keep on teching, talk to you soon, bye
